So finally the hope-giver turns on himself? 'God's writhing in his heaven -- while the world still spins --'

A wretch of salivation. His nature sans merci be pride. Overweening, soul-consuming, unrepentant, unreflective, self-destructive, all-benighting pride.

'Pride, O pride, thy prize!'

 • Protection probably going to be changed to "Face-up cards you control cannot be destroyed by card effects"
 • Might be changed to 2 Level 6 "Light" monsters, not that it matters for Hieractics
 • Last 2 effects will probably both require 1 material to activate

I could be wrong, but that's how I see the nerf. On another note, I'm far from surprised. When Hope Ray was released so early, I already knew atleast 2 or 3 more Evo/Upgrades would follow. Like how it gives RUM AF purpose, I think it's the one used the least after Numeron Fall. Even with my nerf I definately see this in OTKs with ZW

You sure? Utopia's Japanese name, the part that the supports usually target, is "Hope" so I figured anything with/related to "Utopia", the english version, would be one and the same.

"Utopia" is "Kibou ou Hope" in Japanese.  "Beyond the Hope" doesn't include the entire "Kibou ou Hope" string of text, so it can't or shouldn't have "Utopia" in its name for consistency.  You'll find that they'll have a similar problem with CXyz Barian, since it has "Kibou ou" in its name, which is literally translated to "King of Wishes".

Of course, this could have all been avoided if they bothered to preserve Hope's proper name, but eh.

I dunno, I'm willing to bet money that this card will count as a Utopia monster because of the translations. All monsters designated to "Hope" have been called Utopia and this card is considerated the final form, so I can't see this card not being a Utopia monster.

And here I thought the final form of Utopia would be
SjuRBDn.jpg

5 Level 12 LIGHT Warrior-type Monsters

Must be Xyz Summoned, and cannot be Summoned by other ways. You can also Xyz Summon this card using 1 face-up Rank 7 "Utopia" monster you control equipped with 3 or more "ZW-" cards you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) The Xyz Summon of this card cannot be negated. Equip any "ZW-" cards sent to the Graveyard when this card is Xyz Summoned to this card. Cannot be destroyed by battle with "Number" monsters, or by the effects of "Number" monsters When this card attacks a "Number C" monster; destroy that card immediately without applying damage calculation. Neither player can Set monsters or Special Summon except Xyz Summon. This card cannot attack directly. Negate and destroy any card or effect that would negate this card's effects. Once per turn: you can detach all non-"Utopia" Xyz Materials from this card; banish all cards in both players' hands and Graveyards. Banish this face-up card if there is no "Utopia" card attached as Xyz Material. This card gains the effects of any "Utopia" cards attached to it as Xyz Material.
You thought the final form would be an evil mechanical dragon that channels the power of hell with the personality of the Joker backing it up?

Wait, you mean that image isn't fanart hyperbolizing Utopia?

Nope it's fricking Chaos Breaker Dragon from Cardfight Vanguard.

OT: as far the english name for this card, Eutopia could work, but it probably not in the direction Konami will go for, maybe Neo Utopia or Beyond Utopia, I can guess it would be 2+ words for this guy.

According to the wikia, the Utopia archetype is, in Japan, the Kibou ou Hopu archetype. As such, neither this nor Worm Hope are part of the Utopia archetype.

As for the card itself, I imagine it will be released something like this. Probably a lot more buffed.

2 Level 6 monsters
Each player can only use the (3) effect of "Number 39: Beyond the Hope" once per duel.
(1) Cards you control are unaffected by your opponent's card effects.
(2) During your End Phase: shuffle this card into the Extra Deck.
(3) If this card is shuffled into your Extra Deck by (2) : you can target 1 "Number 39: Utopia" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it, and if you do, you gain life points equal to half its ATK.
While this card has "Number 39: Utopia" as an Xyz Material, this card gains the following effect.
• (4) If this card attacks the opponent's monster, that monster's ATK becomes 0 during damage calculation only.

Or at least that's my understanding of Japan's new format for card effects.

2 Level 6 monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned: Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it's ATK becomes 0. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and target 1 "Utopia" monster in your Graveyard; banish 1 Xyz Monster you control, Special Summon it and you gain 1250 Life Points.

Apparently the Master Guide 4 effect is something like that. Btw, it's also treated as a Utopia monster so have fun with that.
