I do not understand what the viking apocalypse has to do with Yugi's magicians. It was far enough of a stretch to say those colored guys with modern-magician hats/cylinders/doves/Houdini-like acts were Egyptian.

Also, interesting how that killed Ra, but apparently Obelisk's effect couldn't.

I think its stated in the anime that Obelisk wouldn't dare stand up to its superior.

Yeah but it still should have had a better chance at it.

Obelisk broke through a Mirror Force in the anime. Yet Ra couldn't deal with this.

Was Mirror Force also being respectful of Obelisk?

So...my birthday is the end of the world? That's unfortunate.

This card is just weird, since somehow it could kill Ra. And that cost/restriction is just...WTF?

well tbh it could have the effect to ignore Ra's immunities in anime though. A simple mass destruction would be just weird with that cost/restriction.

Yeah...I distinctly recall Yugi saying "every monster on your Field will be crushed, including Ra".

But considering how BS Ra was with its immunities to stuff, I still have no idea HOW it killed Ra. It actually looked more like it banished Ra, rather than destroy it.

I think it might be something Superpolymerization-esqe, with a clause stating "regardless of your opponent's card's effects." That's the only way I could justify such a ludicrous cost.

I have a torrent of the entire series, and I just rewatched this card's episode. Allow me to post proper lore, including balance.

Activate only while you control 2 or more Level 6 or higher Spellcaster-type monsters. Banish all monsters from your hand, Deck and Graveyard. Banish all monsters your opponent controls, ignoring all other card effects. This card's activation and effect cannot be negated.

Called it.

Also I think the reason it requires 2 Level 6 Spellcasters (or 2 of the Dark Magician Archtype) is that Loki in Norse mythology was a mage (if memory serves me) and that it was him that jumpstarted Ragnarok.

Wait... February 22nd is your birthday... Mommy, is that you?

OT: As a kid I thought this did so much more and was so much more worth it

Now I see how over the fucking top it was for no real reason.

It was basically A terrible standin for what Magical Dimension did in the manga.

Yu-Gi-Oh R!; Tenma mentioned that the God Cycle have a hierarchy triangle of sorts. With Ra at the top. Because of this, Ra would not be able to be bested by the effects of Slifer or Obelisk, and in addition, Devil's Eraser and Devil's Dreadroot. Also making Avatar on the same-level as Ra. This theory defended Avatar from Slifer's second mouth effect.

Idk how much people care about that manga, but there ya go.

Also oddly, Tenma countered the summon of Ra with a trap-card, and I thought for sure the Gods couldn't have their summoned negated.

The Gods are inconsistent as heck in the anime and manga.

About the picture:

Let's see, horse with 8 legs is Loki's son. The rider must be Odin. The one with the hammer must be Thor. The tree must be Yggdrasil. The wolf and serpent I have no idea what they are, but thought they'd be there since 5Ds kinda referenced those.

That'd leave the character holding 2 swords that looks like a girl to be Loki...... hmmm.

Who's that giant human?

That giant human really looks like Ymir, (the king of the Ice Giants). I don't know.

Also, that human using 2 swords.. looks a lot like Sif.

The wolf is most likely Fenrir as I don't think there is any other wolfs in Norse Mythology, if I'm wrong, someone correct me please., and the Seprent is Jormundardr. Actually on second thought, that serpent might be Eitr. Its poison would fit perfectly with this, as its poison is so potent, not even Odin is immune to it, and the legends state that Eitrs poison is directly linked with Ragnarok.

The wolf and serpent are Fenrir and Jörmungandr, know your Norse myths. The giant is one of the Jötnar (giants), the sworn enemies of the Aesir. More spesifically, it could be Surtr, the ruler of the fire giants who are prophecized to set fire to the world at Ragnarök.
