宇佐見 蓮子@C94
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpdoBwezFVA Before posting, please watch the 8 minute video first. This video should show you how bad the mobile gaming world is at the moment. Done? Good. So, IAPs. They're horrible and everyone knows that, and I expect most of you guys here to know better and never buy them. TBH this would be fine if it stayed in mobile gaming, where games are expected to be of low quality. BUT, it's not staying in the mobile world of dreadfullness. Gran Turismo 6, of all things is one of the big-budget games adopting this fiendish practice. Fucking Gran Turismo has microtransactions. Is this how bad the industry has gotten to? Is Greed over Gameplay now a standard practice for game developers now? *sigh* YCM, I need your help. If you wanna try and make a difference, go to the iOS store/Google Play Store and just... just give a review of Dungeon Keeper. Take the piss out of it, give it 1 star ratings and scare people off from buying it. EA will see that they're being dumbassess and hopefully, hopefully, they'll stop putting shit in our mouth and force us to pay money to eat it. Lonk
...and people say that Nintendo made a bad business decision with dropping EA from their 3rd Party support... Seriously, fornicate microtransactions. If a person gets a game, then they shouldn't have to pay extra just to play the game. Having to pay to play a game is a sin according to the bible for gamers. Fornicate EA for liking microtransactions, and fornicate everyone else who is jumping on the microtransaction boat just to pinch everyone else's pennies. What's worse is that the practice is acceptable, if not controversal, because they always say that it is "optional" to use. Well, almost everyone will give into the desire if it is there long enough. So not, it isn't "optional" to use. It will always be a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off.
Airride
I'm okay with microtransactions if it's something like TF2 or Spiral Knights, wherein you can pay to advance yourself more easily and quickly, but not paying is a viable option, since all the things you want/need can be found/traded for with other players, and if you grind levels/play a lot to find what you want, then you GET BETTER AT THE GAME (And in the case of SK, actually IMPROVE YOUR GEAR GRADUALLY, and you get more money, materials, etc.) With shit like this, where it's more or less "pay to actually play the damn game", it's just fucking stupid. Tentacruel
It works if you want it to work, like with LoL or something, but 99% of the time the game is built from the ground up to try to get you to spend money the integrity of the game has been compromised. Soooo, yeah.
mido9
God bless dota 2. More like all of valve, really. On the bright side, at least EA will get the golden poo for the third year running, eh? Edit: Also I cant help but feel that these sorts of "give us munny" games (all the bravest, candy crush, etc) are going to cause the next 1983 for phones, and this is their ET. Cin
I made the mistake of spending money in game, Crystal Saga on Kongregate. Where you needed certain items to upgrade your wings, mount and pet, and even then those items couldn't guarantee an upgrade, commonly they were found in dungeon which you often needed more than 1 person to complete, and then only if you were within 5 levels of the main boss in the dungeon. Meaning they often sniped them, then charged 1 gold (or 100 silver which is only easy to get when you have quests which you only have a couple before you need to level a different way). Nowadays I only resort to spending on Dragonfable and with the Dragon Amulet/Doom Knight/Elemental Trinket packages, I have more than enough of in game currency for about £60 since 2011. Given during War I literally live on there for 8 hours a day (that is all my computer time), I feel that was a fair deal. I've probably spent several hundred hours on there and with the updates it's not as if is stagnant and because the team share some information about their own lives, such as ingame quest for 2 of the staff members getting engaged and more for the couple of weddings (the design notes showed us the set up for Artix's wedding) you feel involved so I don't mind spending a little bit of money sometimes. I've seen games my Mum plays on her Tablet asking for real money to get premium in game currency that you otherwise get very slowly. It's annoying and wholly unnecessary. Sometimes I believe the companies themselves don't do enough to remind you that you in fact spending real money and don't make it difficult. I mean some of them can store your card details. .Rai
Relevant issue. Extra Credits deal with the issue well here. Microtransactions should be implemented (most of the time). It's just greed that is preventing companies from actually implementing them in a fair way.
xDPxWizard
Buying Level 90's on WOW or actually getting a rare (Blue) or Legendary (Orange) item on Diablo III PC or buying Crates on TF2 is fine by me, but when you have to buy shit to fill up an ENERGY METER pisses me off.
