JLtheking2
So I've drafted out and planned to design a bunch of MLP-themed cardsets during my spare time, and created my first set using our helpful card maker :) List of cardsets in the works: Forces Of Chaos Royal Wedding Cutie Mark Crusaders Muffin Mayhem! Princess Coronation
The portal to Equestria Opens! Get ready to experience Yu-Gi-Oh! like you’ve never done before as you fight along your Equestrian friends against the looming forces of darkness. Gather the Elements of Harmony and use their combined power to overcome all odds! This set (and my upcoming Structure Deck specifically designed around the Mane 6) focuses on equipping the Mane 6 with the Element of Harmony Equip Spells. The mane 6 themselves are decent monsters: Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle work as beatsticks plus supporting effects; the other 3 have unique effects but will need protection. The elements themselves are okay-ish Equip cards on their own, but can utilise extra powerful effects when equipped to the right monster. The set also comes with many supporting Spells and Traps which help to make the searching for the right card to fulfill the bearer-element combos easier, while more or less maintaining card advantage. The final endgame punch is of course - Twilight's combo which requires field advantage and a good setup. EOH-001 Bearer Of Harmony - Twilight Sparkle She can help to retrieve elements or other handy Spell Cards, in exchange for some time lag for the. Think of it as she's hiding in her library researching :) EOH-002 Bearer Of Harmony - Rainbow Dash Best Pony ish good beatstick with high endurance :3 EOH-003 Bearer Of Harmony - Fluttershy Pretty broken effect, if it wasn't for the fact that she and her new friend will get cobbled immediately the next turn without protection. (Just like the show!) She's meant to be a powerful combo card, and not too different from a Monster version of Brain Control with limitations. EOH-004 Bearer Of Harmony - Rarity You can trade off card advantage to gain Life Points (aka feel good!). EOH-005 Bearer Of Harmony - Pinkie Pie She makes a monster more squishy for another monster to follow up for the kill by annoying the heck out of them :) EOH-006 Bearer Of Harmony - Applejack Beatstick. What else can I say? EOH-007 Element Of Harmony - Magic Basically, the more elements you have on the field, the more powerful the abilities she can use (or she can reuse lower cost abilities multiple times). You can save up these Spell Counters for the final game-ending effect (or use other Spell Counter-supporting cards from the original game; yes, Twily and her element is very splashable!) which will do massive damage to the opponent the bigger his setup is. The cards are not destroyed, so you don't gain card advantage but that's the tradeoff. As the opponent, you can avoid losing via the harmony strike by playing conservatively once you see this element hit the field. EOH-008 Element Of Harmony - Loyalty Makes her a good cleanup crew for recruiters. Also, the "Loyalty" effect is there just for lulz. And useful to counter an upcoming important card in the next set! EOH-009 Element Of Harmony - Kindness Fluttershy can now control more powerful monsters, and can protect herself and her friends. EOH-010 Element Of Harmony - Generosity Now you can gain card advantage too! Also works as a self replacing card if you get a bad draw. EOH-011 Element Of Harmony - Laughter Now little miss annoying will become a giant annoyance as the effect lasts through the opponent's turn and target more monsters. EOH-012 Element Of Harmony - Honesty Robbin' Goblin++ EOH-013 Harmony Medallion ROTA for Elements. This is what makes the deck tick. EOH-014 Harmony Pedestal Protects your precious card advantage! EOH-015 Book of Harmony Warrior Returning Alive for Elements. Ssshhhh I'm still creative I swear!! EOH-016 Harmony Bookkeeping Recycles destroyed elements / elements you don't want / elements you equipped to the wrong monster during a moment of desperation, at the cost of -1 card advantage. Speed exchanged for versatility. EOH-017 Harmony Burst I created this because I love the idea of the Mane 6 doing a final stand, even when all their comrades have fallen (Inspired by Backs To The Wall for 6SAM). This causes different effects for different Bearer-element combos: Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy's effects are decent for desperate stalling scenarios; Applejack and Rarity deal with card advantage which is great to give you one last try before you are almost guaranteed to lose the next turn; Rainbow Dash will clear the opponent's field for you in a jiffy; Twilight Sparkle will instantly call a Harmony strike which will likely win you the lategame. So it's broken for that 1 combo. But it's not guaranteed! Any form of monster or trap removal will foul this combo from the very start, not to mention negating harmony burst will leave you with 100 LP. So if you are losing in card advantage, this combo is unreliable. Also you need to mill through your Bearers of harmony for it to even work. But all in all I like combos, and a deck around this and "Eclipse of the Sun and Moon - Harmony Amalgamate" might be a cool idea. EOH-018 Tree of Harmony So elements DO grow on trees! EOH-019 Beam of Tranquil Harmony A nice themed 1-for-1 destruction. It shouldn't be hard to get a combo going especially with all the support cards. EOH-020 Beam of Potent Harmony This generally means a good >1000 burn with 1 card. EOH-021 Call of the Bearer This is what makes the deck tick. In the opposite direction. EOH-022 Princess Celestia - Envoy Of The Sun Bam first Synchro of the set. She's a God, so will be unaffected by cards like in the anime. And since all she does is banish ponies to the moon I figured the effect is fitting ^_^. EOH-023 Princess Luna - Envoy Of The Moon She's the Princess of the Moon. So Book of Moon as an effect. GEDDIT? HAHAHA EOH-024 Eclipse of the Sun and Moon - Harmony Amalgamate One can even create a whole deck around this card by milling. Hmmm. EOH-025 Bonds of Friendship Don't we all love Special Summons? EOH-026 Elemental Magic Transporter Basically Gold Sarcophagus but with Twilight and her element. So the player can get easier access to the set's key card but giving up the element of surprise. EOH-027 Defence Stare A fun card that gives Fluttershy a unique Defensive role in the deck. EOH-028 Spike, the Number One Assistant EOH-029 Assistant Call NEW CARDS (more background ponies incoming!!): EOH-030 Bon Bon EOH-031 Lyra Heartstrings Works well with Bon Bon. Who knew? EOH-032 Minuette
Note: As you can probably see, I haven't exactly caught up with the YGO times yet, so I'm unsure how Xyz summoning will play out in a real duel. So I decided to just stick with my Synchros for my Princesses. Please comment! Hahaha!
JLtheking2
The next pack is out! And man is it awesome (at least I think it is).
The prophecy of Nightmare Moon’s return comes fulfilled! Forces of light and darkness do battle! Summon your Minions of Shadow and Darkness and dominate the field under the cover of the Eternal Night! This pack focuses on Bringing out Nightmare Moon to the field as quickly as possible using Emblem of the Night (which you should run 3 copies of) and the use of other themed banishing cards. Eternal Night will slowly but steadily bulk up all your DARK monsters. Many monsters from the Season 1 Premiere make an appearance and provide you with a wide arsenal of beatsticks to fill your field. In addition, a new type of monster I created: "Shadow" monsters, are monsters with powerful effects but are instantly banished during the day (aka the Field Card is destroyed). Thus, cards like "Field Barrier" will be useful in keeping these powerful monsters out without NMM's help. When NMM IS on the field, some nomi Spells can be used which are devastating. There are lots of custom DARK monster support here as well :) Oh and definitely run the max number of copies allowed for Allure of Darkness. TEN-001 Nightmare Moon, the Immortal Shadow She's a nomi monster (oh no!), but can be chocked to the field easily with cards like Allure of Darkness (after the time lag - which awesomely will start causing your opponent to panic.) (Protip: she self protects against Bottomless Trap Holes hahaha) She automatically gives you +1 by tagging along with the Eternal Night Field Spell, as well as protecting it from S/T destruction, and causes opposing monsters to "bow down" to her! Her weakness is normal destruction effects like Mirror Force, contrary to the Princesses. TEN-002 Eternal Night It works on the idea that as the night drags on, it gets harder to see and your monsters can do more stuff. At first they can start exploiting weaknesses in Defense Position monsters, then it gets so dark your opponent can't even spot them (so they attack you directly instead), then you start pickpocketing their stuff, and then you can just directly finish off your opponent. Your opponent should aim to destroy this ASAP. TEN-003 Manticore Infurious, the Troubled Beast Ideally, you Special Summon it when it has 3000+ ATK power, and your opponent suicides all their monsters into it. But it is intentionally designed for Fluttershy to totally own it. Your opponent can avoid this card if they know you possess it by not overextending, or if they have a 2400+ ATK beatstick, ram it into this guy last. Yes, this is a powerful but not really broken monster version of Mirror Force. TEN-004 Steven Magnet, the Fabulous Sea Serpent Just a nice wall. TEN-005 Equus, the Horse of Shadow Behold! The Shadow monsters! They cannot be destroyed by battle (being immaterial and all) but are banished the instant their favorite Field Spell leaves the field. Remember Fires of Doomsday is a staple card in a Dark deck running tributes (as this one is). Equus acts as a very good damage dealer. TEN-007 Aquilam, the Eagle of Shadow Aquilam is interesting as he can self-revive if he is banished, and becomes a reusable tuner/tribute fodder if you run Macro Cosmos or Dimensional Fissure. Meant to open up combos for people running a Macro Moon deck (yes I came up with this name myself :P) TEN-008 Phoenicopteri, the Flamingo of Shadow Say hello to one-time-use Yata-Garasu. You are advised to tune it in Main Phase 2. TEN-009 Corvus, the Crow of Shadow Copy Plant! There is also a cool combo of using this with Nightmare Moon, so you can utilise one of her utility Spells. Oh and to ahem ritual summon a certain something. And that does it for the shadow monsters! (For now) Don't sue me for spamming shadow birds, I <3 birdies. I'll come up more shadow beatsticks later in a possible expansion pack. But for now the powerful shadow bird tuners should add a benefit for you to run more copies of this set's Field Spell. They aren't broken, because 1 chained MST will destroy your precious Shadows. But we still wouldn't want to fill up this dark deck with monsters solely depending on 1 Field Spell, do we? The follow 2 monsters help to recover/protect you from the case of your Shadows getting banished. TEN-010 Ave the Obsequious I can think of a few combos with this little guy. TEN-011 Silver Fang the Protector of Shadows Combos well with the previous guy, and the many other banishing effects present in this DARK deck. Note: you cannot summon NMM with this. TEN-012 Equo, Emissary of the Night This guy acts as the deck's primary beatstick as it speeds up counters for the Eternal Night's effect. It even works before the Spell hits the field! TEN-013 The Nightmare Prophecy Run 3 of these. TEN-014 Emblem of the Night Recycles your useless nomi monster stuck in your hand/Graveyard. TEN-015 Eclipse of the Shadows One of the endgame cards for this deck. With 8 night counters now on the field, Eternal Night gains every single effect. All your monsters now can attack directly and your opponent loses 1 card for each attack. If you choose to activate it on your opponent's turn, you also protect your monsters (they can't select your monsters as an attack target, so they attack you directly) but you may die. You also risk your opponent destroying it in MP2. However if this can easily be chained with MST or dark bribe, whereby which half your LP will be gone. TEN-016 The Headless Horse Trap Monster Woohoo! Useful for as an indestructible wall, some extra damage, or as tribute fodder. TEN-017 Beam of Ravage Darkness The nomi-Spell I was talking about. It's reusable, and that's an awesome +1 every turn. And there are plenty of cards in this set to fake past the nomi condition. TEN-018 Beam of Excruciating Darkness A nice way to finish the duel using burn. You can also potentially chain this to a variety of stuff, such as when NMM or Eternal Night is about to be destroyed. TEN-019 Advent of Dawn This card doesn't belong in this deck. But it is definitely splashable in every other deck which potentially uses Celestia as a Synchro going against either this deck or the Sombra Deck or the Chaos Deck or the Tier 1-3 DARK decks. Why is it then in this set? To supposedly give people running light decks an incentive to spend money on this non-existent set >:D TEN-020 Divine Engagement This card is designed to be epic. You and your opponent will be continuously chaining this card after the other to win this battle of epic proportions. It's reusable so you don't lose card advantage. Oh, and you as the controller of this card can even send this card itself to prevent your opponent from using it anymore. TEN-021 Collaboration of Light and Darkness This card doesn't belong in this set either! But it's cool draw power if you ever decide to splash your own Deck with the cards I've created ^_^. Or, I dunno, splash this in your Chaos Deck instead of / together with Allure of Darkness? TEN-022 Dark Vision This card works by basically converting 1 of your monsters into a "conduit" to manipulate the future cards you draw. The better the monster, the further you can see into the future; but it basically becomes a useless normal monster / sitting duck. Intentionally good for large ATK beatdown monsters common in DARK decks. Use it in MP2 for best results. TEN-023 Illusion of the Nightmare The best way to spoof NMM's presence on the field for your combos or for a certain ahem ahem Ritual Summon. It also acts as a Threatening Roar. TEN-024 Confounding Kneel A more power-packed Book of Moon, going along again with Luna and her theme of making others kneel down before her by going to face-down Defense Position. But you require possessing at least 1 beatstick monster. TEN-025 Celestial Alignment This is an intentional game-over card, but as before can be easily negated/destroyed with any simple S/T destruction. Beware! TEN-026 Conversion into Darkness Creates a possible side-method to summon NMM by Synchro Summoning our beloved Lulu first. Also works as intentioned to convert an opponent's Luna to yours! :D TEN-027 Dark Glare It's -1 for some cases and evens out for others. All in all solid protection. This starts a good transition to the next few cards, which focus on the Shadowbolts ^_^. They make good beatsticks when filling this deck. TEN-028 Charger, Shadowbolt of Lightning Sounds familiar. Heh. Provides good offense. TEN-029 Stratus, Shadowbolt of the Skies Good defense. TEN-030 Vortex, Shadowbolt of Storms Our resident Breaker. Btw, the above 3 are all OCs XD TEN-031 Return of the Shadowbolts This is a core card for a potential Shadowbolt based Eternal Night Deck, rather than Shadows. It'll focus heavily on Dark beatdowns plus Equo (TEN-012). Once you rack up 6 Night Counters, you will pierce out not only damage but also card advantage. Choose between the crazy Synchro combos of the Shadows or with Shadowbolt beatdown, or a mix of both :) TEN-032 Rainbow Dash, Shadowbolt of Tricks Muahaha. Best Pony is best Shadowbolt <3 TEN-033 Dark Possession A VERY interesting card. Take control of a powerful monster to wreak havoc on opponent's setups, but you have to banish a powerful monster / beatstick. Shouldn't be too hard in a DARK beatdown deck. Yes, you can Special Summon NMM with this (as intentioned). Now we come to the real meat of the Secret Rare of this set: TEN-034 Offerings to the Nightmare Note you don't have to have the Queen in your hand to play this card. You just need to tribute a shitload of monsters (or ideally 1 NMM). Or you can do the sick combo of targeting a banished NMM with Corvus (TEN-009), and get BOTH. TEN-035 Vampiric Queen of Darkness, Nightmare Moon Report OP. Oh, and did I mention Dimensional Fissure would make both Nightmare Moons practically invincible sans being returned to the hand/top of the Deck? Oh, as per Ritual monsters, you cannot Special Summon this card from the Graveyard/banished zone unless it has been Ritual Summoned successful before. Winkwink. And a proper Deck can't do without at least a few Synchros! TEN-036 Nightmare Rarity, the Malevolent Oh hey, look! Another secret rare! It's totally the opposite of normal Rarity - pay LP to STEAL opponent's cards. That's a +2 every turn with a big LP cost. And she heals you accordingly to how much you hoard your cards when she goes boom. TEN-037 Princess Luna - Bringer of Nightmares The art is so cute! :3 Yet another way to spoof her presence, in the form of a good beatstick as well.
And that concludes the Eternal Night cardset! I most definitely have sufficient cards to construct a Dark Structure Deck using these cards so look out for it soon! :)
Blue Amoonguss
These are some good cards, if not OP. The art looks realistic, and I can tell you took some hours into thinking up these cards. Eagerly awaiting future releases!
Gregory the Gregory
They're good, but I would suggest using actual monster types instead of the ones you used. I'd assume most of the cards would be beast.
JLtheking2
Originally, that was my plan too. But I'm reserving these types as I /may/ have some cards planned which are race specific. I also originally wanted to separate my ponies from formal Beast/Winged Beast decks, as they are not made to be mixed. I can't imagine Applejack using Wild Nature's Release XD. But it is a good suggestion nonetheless. Twilight will be an asset with spellcaster support. I'll consider it. Thanks!
JLtheking2
So I've made a 40 + 3 card Structure Deck of Eternal Darkness!

It's more or less a shadowbolt-based Beatdown deck, together with some shadow-based tuners, and including 1 of every card in the set. It also includes Allure of Darkness and Fires of Doomsday as original cards to help out with the draw engine and tribute monsters. Princess Luna is also included to allow a potential Luna + Conversion into Darkness = NMM combo. Note that Nightmare Rarity and baby NMM are now Synchros, to give the tuners more of a presence. Eclipse of Shadows effect has also changed. Some cards to consider when modifying this custom deck, which still fits with the theme: Dimensional Fissure / Macro Cosmos Terraforming Field Barrier Dark Bribe Escape from the Dark Dimension Dimensional Prison Bottomless Trap Hole
DeltaSigma96
I've only briefly scanned your cards, and man, this is an impressive job. You know your stuff, both Yugioh and MLP-wise, for sure. Makes me feel even more like a newbie, but that's alright. I am a newbie. My only concern is that, based on the comments I've personally gotten and seen around, some of your card effects seem kind of overpowered. But again, I'm a newbie. In general: I like it a lot. You managed to capture the personality of each character within each card, and in my book, that's worth more than making balanced cards. If someone like you would be willing to mentor a guy like me in terms of making cards, that'd be swell.
