[spoiler='Episode 49']*Tatsuya lost to Reira. Oh well, at least Reira wasn't a dick to him.
*Gongenzaka stole Sawatari's Pendulum monsters and gave them to Shun. That teamwork.
*Yuya and Sora duel! The duel gets more and more intense with Sora's drawing like 5 cards in one turn. So many plot device cards.
*I like how Yuya actually knows about OERD, because he shouldn't since he was in Berserk mode when he first summoned it.
*So the viewers who watched the episode now know that Rebellion Dragon is an Xyz Pendulum monster. The card wasn't shown in the anime before.
*Dennis, the hell you doing there, you evil Fusion scumbag? Carrying Mieru and pretending you're nakama. Someone, kick that guy's arse.

*The Duel ends in no result, because Battle Royal ended. Sora decided to be a coward and escape.

*Wild Reiji appears. Sawatari explains about the Lancers.

 

In the preview, Yuya and Reiji finally have a rematch. Dennis is scared and shaking for some reason. Good. Maybe Reiji knows about Dennis being a secret agent.[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Thoughts on 49 RAW]

- Unsurprisingly Reira used an Xyz against Tatsuya and won the Junior Class (As much as I wanted Tatsuya to win, the result really didn't surprise me)

- So Sawatari's new (permanent) deck is based around Underworld stuffs, I guess I cannot complain too much

- Yeah, Gongenzaka's new monster (the red guy) really did remind me of Genesect, and uses them to pass on Sawatari's pendulums to Shun (Dat teamwork doe)

- Shun finally gets a turn and like we all were saying, used that 1 turn to win.

 - That being said, Sawatari's over the top celebration was amusing

- This is the first time we see Yuya summon OERD when not in Berserk mode, it's interesting given that he shouldn't have had any recollection of using it after regaining his senses.

- The duel ended with no result as the Battle Royale ended.

- As soon as Serena revealed that she wasn't Yuzu (Must've irritated her inside), Sora initiated a forced return back to Academia.

- Sawatari seems to be explaining about the Lancers thing to everyone else.

- I'm assuming from the preview that Reiji knows about Denni being a Fusion spy from his scared expression.

Episode was epic.

So Reira won the Junior Tournament, but seemed quite pleased at Tatsuya's compliment, which I assume was a favorable comparison to Reiji.

 

Not sure what to think of Sawatari's Deck. Gogenzaka's teamwork to Shun was quite nice.

 

Shun uses Level 6 RRs to Summon Revolution Falcon. That's...interesting.

 

Duel between Yuya and Sora was really good. A bit disappointed at the lack of a conclusion, but if Yuya got the Action Card, he'd win, because OERD would destroy the Frightfur (Sora LP: 3000) and then direct attack (Sora LP: 0). If Sora got it and it in some way countered Rebellion Dragon, he'd win because Yuya had no more cards.

 

Sora was pretty ecstatic about Pendulum-Xyz. Not sure exactly what most of the dialogue was, though. Looking forward to subs.

 

When Serena mentioned she wasn't Yuzu, Yuya seemed to think that Academia got to her, which is why Sora retreated. Either he's concerned of the same thing, or he realized he REALLY didn't want to stick around now.

SHun used a main deck Raidraptor that isn't a Lanius; BUT it was level 6. Maybe we'll get some level 5 and 6 Raidraptors in future that aren't Lanius'?

 

Sora vs Yuya is epic, though I noticed Sora's hand seems to vanish once or twice after he drew a bunch of cards, so it was really noticeable. That being said, Sabre Tiger was epic.

 

LOVE Sawatari's new monsters so far, can't wait to see how they'll play in future. His reaction to winning was great.

 

Gongenzaka's monsters were the most blatantly plot-devicey cards Arc-V has so far had. It's not like Shun didn't have enough cards in hand to be capable of playing his own Pendulum cards we KNOW he had to collect.

 

Why don't we get to see more of Reira vs Tatuya?

 

Cool to see non-berserk Yuya go into Odd-Eyes Rebellion.

 

Apparently Reiji will use Abyss Ragnarok next episode. And do mine eyes deceive me, or is that Action Field they're using Magical Broadway?

So Shingo has his permanent deck. A bit meh atm, kinda wish he'd stuck with yosenju, but I'll just have to hope they get some cool stuff.

Shun Pendulum summons (using Shingo's cards) and debuts a level 6 raid raptor that isn't a lanius for once.

Even. bigger. hound. dogs.

Sora vs Yuya first turn was badass, with constant counter-use of action cards.

Odd eyes rebellion awesome as ever

So the end of the battle-royale interrupted a duel involving a member of academia? even though their monsters are solid?

and Reiji finally explains what the tournament was about. Not gonna be easy hiding this from the public, after several of the finalist disappeared XD [/spoiler]

Hiding it from the public WILL be hard; They don't even have the eight duelists needed for the next round. The only people left are Yuya, Gongenzaka, Shun, Dennis, the Ryozanpaku guys (they weren't carded, Yuto just kicked the crap out of them) and Tsukikage. They're one short. All the other finalists are cards or are MIA like Yuzu.

 

By the way, I noticed something. This happened when Serena revealed she wasn't Yuzu:

Shun knew it wasn't Yuzu. Shun was the only one (along with Tsukikage, who already knew they swapped clothes), after seeing Serena using monsters that Yuzu has never used and a duel disk that doesn't look remotely similar to Yuzu's. Shun easily recognized Serena as someone not Yuzu, a mistake that everyone else in that image, including Sora, made. It's weird, especially since Shun has mistaken Yuzu for Ruri most adamantly when he had the best look at her face. Gongenzaka at least should have realized something was up, as he's presumably known Yuzu almost as long as he's known Yuya, but he didn't have a clue.

 

I wouldn't bring this up except for Shun's first reaction to seeing Yuya. He gets a clear look at Yuya when they first encountered each other, and didn't even react to seeing a dude with his best friend's face. Not even a double take. He's NEVER made that mistake with Yuya and Yuto. But he still acts weird about Yuzu looking like Ruri for quite a while after Yuto thinks otherwise, and he pretty quickly realizes this one is not Yuzu OR his sister. That's strange and weird and inconsistent, unless Yuzu IS Ruri and Shun is the only one who's figured that out, even if he doesn't realize it.

 

Forgive me my long rant. I'm just adamantly opposed to the idea of Yuzu NOT being Ruri at this point with all the evidence pointing to the opposite.

Somehow I doubt the two guys Yuto beat up will return, and of course, Dennis is........Dennis. It was mentioned earlier, but I don't want to make spoiler tags. 

 

Either way, they would and very well could be missing anywhere from one to four finalists. If Reiji does find out about Dennis, then...yeah.

 

I don't know.  It seems very obvious who would fill in for the 8th person, especially considering he just got a new deck. For the fourth time.

 

Should others fill in, it would probably be Mieru, Serena, and someone else.

Sawatari: "OH YES"

 

Dennis's reveal of his betrayal to Yuya might seem very heartbreaking, but I can't see any malicious aspects about him that makes him as evil as the Obelisk Force or as cold as Yuri. He's still a mystery but for now he is just a mole working for The academia, and I think we can all see that now. Though it doesn't look like he's opposing to being a mole nor he looks very dynamic between sides, yet Yuya looks up to him cause he looks up to his father.

 

Though, it would be an interesting turnout if Reiji recruited Dennis into the Lancers, and either side of his affiliations might get to him.

 

[spoiler=Episode Thoughts]

-Reira and Tatsuya's duel...Reira won, though slightly expected. Also expected he used an Xyz to complete the triad of Extra Deck-type monsters he uses, but the monster he has have no stronger correlation between them like D/D/D...I think. Regardless, it was a good "gg" from both sides in the end.

 

-As much a Shun might be thinking: "Can I just have my fucking turn already?", it's nice to see that he can rely on companions that are not just from his faction and can bet that true hope stems from betting on their trust by being friends. It's common now that Raidraptors have supports like Mimicry to loophole rank-Ups but...3 Level 6 Raidraptors might as well be plot device vanillas. Ah well. Shun gets to finish off 3 petty Obelisk Force duelists.

 

-Sora vs Yuya. Holy crap was that good. There was little plot device I could tear into, and Sora not only used actual Fluffal cards, but actually created a legitimate beatdown tactic that upholded the pride of Fluffals. I swear he could have gotten Chimera, but I guess Yuya's topdeck of 2 Pendulum Scale sets were too much. At least yuya was conscious of Yuto's "Smiles" so badass Rebellion FTW, under control. It was a very heated and professional duel, that I could only like more with the translated dialogue of now separated ideals of "the fun begins here"

 

-Holy shit Mieru, Gogenzaka, Sawatari, and Yuya, are the clothes thing really just gonna buy it for you? I know some of y'all have only met Serena once or never met her at all, but couldn't you all just have some suspicion maybe, her voice was different, or her duel disk was different (like what Sora and Shun actually noticed), or her freaking monsters he used at all? Where did she get Clark Kent's fucking glasses power?

 

-Meanwhile, Yugo and Yuzu are doing unexplainable and possibly suggestive things off-screen for the past few episodes. Knowing that Reiji's time has come...how the da fuq will the writer's explain where they went (Unless we can finally examine the truth of the bracelets and/or see Yuri again)[/spoiler]

Tbh, I don't think there's any moral dilemma going on in Dennis' head right now. he's more than aware of everything academia is doing, and keeps a smile on his face the whole time. We even got that little inner monologue last week(?) with his evil grin face. He works closely with Yuri, told him about Yuzu, then led the Obelisk force after Serena, all while bald-facedly lying to people who trust and look up to him. (which, actually, just made me realise while typing that that he's basically no different than Sora).

 

It's very possible that Yuya's magic protagonist power will redeem him eventually, but honestly, that happens to like, 50% of yugioh villains these days. I'd much rather hope for the redemption (and therefore, survival) of Sora, as opposed to him.

 

I DO wonder what has him looking so terrified next week though.....

  • Again, more off-screen dueling between Reira and whatever You Show kid; at the very least, I'd like to know HOW Reira got a Rank 6 monster out (given the episode just starts with him making said card). Yeah, they aren't really relevant to the plotline (main one anyway), but I do dislike how Tatsuya didn't get screentime to develop his Deck.
    • That being said, I don't hate him [Reira] as much now; at least he actually said something.
  • So Gongenzaka's strategy was basically to toss Sawatari's Pendulums to Shun, so he could make Revolution Falcon and tear Obelisk Force down; okay...
    • Then again, we have a Scale 12 Pendulum; which I assume searches some other PS and powers up Rocks or something. (If it were Machines, the effect would've activated on the field; but the animators didn't show it)
    • Gongenzaka's new cards don't really offer much to his Deck, and basically are just "plot device".
  • More Fluffal spam, and they get new boss. (Sabre Tiger + regular one already grant 700 per monster; so alone, 1400 each).
  • Sora's surprised at the Rank/Level mechanic, though I expected him to show some reaction that Yuya learned how to Xyz Summon and stuff when Dark Rebellion showed up.
    • Truth be told, surprised Shun didn't say anything about it; given OERD is partially comprised of his comrade's monster.
  • Yuya learns that Serena =/= Yuzu, and from reaction, assumes she got sealed into a card. We know that she and Yugo got transported somewhere.

They seem quite keen on not showing too many of Reira's cards, so I'm going to go out on a hunch or two.

 

In his first Duel, he played only those copy cards, and the only monster he was seen with in the Deck itself was CC Past Eye or whatever. This monster unnerved the participants, and Reira used Montage Fusion to fuse it with a copy of his opponent's WATER monster to make the CCC WATER Fusion.

 

We don't know anything about his second Duel, except that he Synchro Summoned.

 

His third Duel involved a Rank 6 EARTH Xyz. His opponent had a Level 6 EARTH monster. The CCC Xyz noticeably only had 1 Overlay Unit when it was Summoned. Based on this, I assume that maybe CC Past Eye or whatever is a Tuner and is key to Reira's Deck. If so, he probably had a Spell to create a copy of his opponent's monster and Synchro Summoned with it. And in the same vein, probably played a Spell that let him use a copy of his opponent's monster and treat it as 2 Overlay Units. Hence, Rank 6.

 

The physical card used as the Material could very well have been CC Past Eye (or whatever). Because seriously, when Reira drew the card in his first Duel, he visibly reacted. It's also the only known "CC" monster, and his extra Deck monsters seem to be CCCs.

 

As for OERD, Yuya may not have remembered the Duel that "created" the card, but he did seem to connect the combo of the Creation/Destruction Pendulums, and the physical card is probably in his Extra Deck. Shun probably wouldn't react, because he and the others arrived after OERD was already out, and therefore had no real way to make the connection.

Sora confirms he and Yuya aren't friends anymore, and derides friendship as inferior to Academia's goals. He genuinely believes the goal of fusing the worlds into one is a righteous agenda, and that the casualties of the Xyz dimension are necessary for the sake of that goal. This is where Yuya and Sora's ideals clash the most.

 

However, he is still delighted by the revelation of Xyz-Pendulum, and notes that Duels with Yuya are always fun and exciting.

 

Sawatari criticizing Gogenzaka about using his Level 10's effect to grab his Pendulums was hilarious. "Aren't you using that effect wrong?"
