Shun is the most kill-joy player I've seen in a long time. Sitting behind a bunch of backrow in everything he draws, then just Summoning the same single monster's copies all the time, and then resuming with his unchanging Xyz's offensive during his turn. If you think about it, it is pretty hard stall, almost akin to that of an Exodia/Final Countdown deck. That is just terrible.

Then we have the other factor that Action Cards give him indefinite additional protection so not even a card-advantage drain strategy to grind through his backrow is good enough. If I was playing against him, it'd be incredibly annoying.

On the bright side, I find it pretty stupid that considering the ATK of the Raid Raptor Xyzs, the seemingly most effective course of action that'd just downright nullify Shun's offensive plays, is Normal Summoning a beater and sticking to it all the way. Like a good Seven Colored Fish would only go down to the Rank 6 there, and the bunch of Waboku-like backrows would just delay things. It is almost funny...

All of this.

Shun is the prime example of how to NOT do a YGO character.

His deck only uses three copies of the same monster to summon a boss monster that is ridiculously easy to trump in actual gameplay situations, and the upgrades to that boss aren't much better, even though they are supposed to seem like they are.

Hell, if Sawatari had dueled Shun with the deck he used to duel Yuto, SAWATARI WOULD'VE WON.

The last statement is irrelevant because sawatari's deck (yosenju) are actually much more powerful than most decks already shown, so that isnt saying much.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_ARC-V_-_Episode_037

Thought it said Yugo was a Synchro user?

EDIT- No source. Likely fake.

I agree that it's likely fake. One thing that tipped me off is the fact that the page for episode 35 doesn't have a link for 36, and shows N/A instead.

Also I do recall it being established that Yugo was a synchro user as well.

DON'T MIND IF I DO

I totally didn't see that response coming

In all seriousness, it just feels weird not having Yugioh on this week lol

While it does seem a bit weird, it's not the first time we've had 1-week delays for episodes.

Did we ever find out a reason for that? Is japan holding a big golf event or something? That's what normally seems to pre-empt kids shows there XD.

I don't believe we did find out the reason, I assumed it was because of some sporting event.
https://ygorganization.wpengine.com/highspeedroidyugo/

Yugo is another Yuya lookalike, and he uses High Speed Roid.
One of the comments there pretty much explained my reaction:

"What the heck is wrong with his hair?
-ZeXal manga artist-

Ahh...."

xD

Going back to the topic, what is Sora's roll here? I haven't seen the conclusion with his duel with Shun in subs (I've seen the raw). Did he not do/say anything that could make him a bad guy in some way? I read in a preview that, well, I don't wanna cause spoilers like this, but the preview seems to randomly get Sora out of the picture.

I like Yugo's design as well; also going to look forward to see his Synchro deck when he officially debuts in a match.

Probably going to bring back fond memories of 5Ds.

On another note, Sora v Yuto airs on Sunday; looking forward to that also.

@Sleepy: I'll leave this in a spoiler for you.
As you noticed, halfway through the duel, Sora turns a bit psycho and essentially treats Shun as nothing more than "prey for him to hunt".

In a nutshell, he pretty much turns in Vector or whatever character who liked to inflict pain on others in the entire franchise; made even scarier monsters to take down Shun with (and inadvertently scaring the daylights out of the small children in the stadium, and honestly even the adults)

At the end, basically Sora loses b/c of Shun topdecking/cockblocking nearly every one of his moves and RUMing into Revolution Falcon + burn damage. Sora develops a superiority complex, saying that he can't lose and then collapses on the ground.

wow, Yugo is... well, he's from the 5d's universe alright, no one else could go quite that crazy with the hair. And I though Yuto looked odd XD.

He still looks pretty cool though, but is it just me, or does he have rreeaallyy pale skin? Also, being another Yuya double comes with the curse of still looking a bit like a girl.

Surprised he uses that roid. Maybe his main deck is largely warriors and macjines, with dragon synchros, like Yusei.

Oh, and does this appearing now lead any credence to those synopses we got earlier?

You all have been speculating that Yuto/Shun are from ZEXAL, as shown as Shun's reaction to the Action Field, so the theory Yugo is from 5Ds (and by extension, a copy of Yusei) isn't really too far-fetched.

But it probably does, however like everything else, episodes before we can draw any sound conclusions.

If the theories hold, we might see a copy of Neo Domino as an Action Field or something.

That'd be interesting to see, and it'd be nice to see the Daedalus bridge as well.

One thing  I do like is that they're not in a hurry to shove Yugo's boss down our faces, though I kinda didn't expect him to be the owner of that High Speed Roid thingie.

yeah, as eagerly as I await that dragon, maybe Yugo will actually have a decent amount of main deck monsters, unlike our xyz users so far. It happened for the fusion user, so it could happen here.

On a related note, I hope we get at least on riding duel at some point, otherwise his d-wheel is kinda pointless. If it's action duels, he could just be riding a monster instead, and if it's normal duels, there's no point to moving whatsoever.

I kinda sort of have it against Yuto preemptively because the preview of next episode showed his Ghost knight again. Considering how things have one down with Shun, I don't really expect much better from Yuto. He might pop those cards a different way, but I think it'll still be something along those lines.

It makes sense that Yugo's ace isn't shown right off the bat. Yusei showed his regular ace (Junk Warrior) right from the beginning, but he only Summoned Stardust when versus Jack early, to showcase it like 6 episodes or so in. And even then the second time it appeared was near the end of the season.

Yugo is already building in anticipation from me. For starters, they can't get away with just multiples of the same material here, and from the effects of that Synchro he needs to have some real Main Deck monsters there (as opposed to Spell/Trap Monsters). IDK... gameplay-wise, GX and 5Ds are around where my favorite times are in terms of gameplay. No contest.

Also the chance of getting to piece a bit more of the puzzle of the show, to see some 5Ds-like tones back into the franchise. Yup....

I've seen at least one or two comments out there in the internet from people saying they are sick of not fully knowing what's happening. I like how it is slowly unveiling stuff without giving it all away. If anything I hope it doesn't go the route of ZeXal where they pretty much put it in your face that "yeah, Faker = blatant bad guy. No more assumptions there".
