Meh, lots of dialogue that I won't understand until I watch the subs, so the duel only got through 2 rounds. Still, cool to see all the characters actually talk to each other about something sinister. Surprisingly rare that they remember to bring that up -_-.

Still, next time looks epic. Sora's going full or psycho, and I really hope they print all those death-toy fusions.

Duel was pretty generic, just about what you'd expect from these guys at this point. It looks as though Sora will go crazy in the next episode seeing all the funky faces he made in the preview.

They keep teasing us with Shun's backstory without getting to the juicy bits. From what I gathered, he just talked about how there was some war and people died and only the ones with the iron will to win lived and so on.

They most likely wont print all of them, but most will be printed and be pretty good by the looks of how its going.

The preview shows one firing a torpedo soooo.....

Nobody cares about shun in all honesty, its all about how sora is gonna take over the world.

Hehehe, sora means gravel in finnish.....

That's most likely the Rank-Up'd version.

I'm more interested in what Sora's new cards are going to be like in the next episode tbh.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 33 RAW]

- It's clear that Yuya and Yuzu are suspicious of Shun's LDS status from previous encounters, ofc it's their word against everyone else's.
- Shun was offered a card(s) prior to the duel (the dialogue mentioned pendulum), but he refused.
- We already knew prior to this episode that Shun hates the action field choice; Future Metropolis Heartland.
- The audience seem to love Sora's cards, and one of them cried when Bear was destroyed.
- Can't wait for the subs so I know what the dialogue between turns 1 and 2 was, as well as between turns 3 and 4.

They're shoving Shun in our faces because of the two, he's the one with a distinct personal agenda. This agenda causes him to approach the situation rashly and aggressively, despite Yuto's protests. Yuto seems to be taking a more thought-out, subtle approach to his searching, whereas Shun is attacking every LDS person with the intent of drawing out Reiji. Reiji is making Shun enter the tournament for his own reasons.

The problem is that because Shun's Deck isn't being developed very well, his Duels aren't very interesting, but this is balanced out slightly with his character and uncertain backstory. Yuto would probably be rather dull if he was Dueling just as frequently, since we only know 5 of his cards, and they're all S/Ts, 3 of them being the same card.

[spoiler=33 thoughts]

  • Shun apparently has no other Main Deck besides Rainias.
  • Most of the audience loved Sora's monsters (of course, Sora did a LOT of talking)
  • Not taking Yuya's warnings about being extremely dangerous.
  • Shun's essentially a killjoy in this match; didn't do the pre-Action Duel thing, never smiled and then talked about his past [from what I got out of it].
  • Yuto/Shun definitely from ZEXAL verse, given reaction.
  • Tower is missing heart on top, but otherwise a very good replica of Heartland City. [Remind self to finish watching the subs, since I cbb to do it in the past]

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that Heartland Tower was lacking the heart on top of it.

The replacement of the crystal on top of Heartland Tower could signify some coverage of what happened after Dr. Faker regained his senses. During the second season it was shown to be in a rebuilding process. Relative to Shun's dialogue, I guess I'd have to view the subs ti understand how he really feels about the tragedy.

Actually quite the opposite.Previews and spoilers ruin most of the tension and excitement the show could try to provide, IMO.

As if it wasn't hard enough to to build them as is with a formula where we know the main character has to win.

"Episode X is where Yuya will fight a one-shot. We sure worry about him not winning the 4 matches and ending up not qualifying for the championship, right?"

"Episode Y is where Sora duels Shun. Well yeah that's actually not that obvious on itself, but since they mentioned Shun to be a sort of main antagonist this season, it'd be pretty awkward having him lose here, even if it meant ditching Sora's still mysterious background in exchange, so guess who's gonna win this one? Sora we have not been told to hear about him in depth any time soon."

In ZeXal is one of those things that was just glaring. Not only did it crush any tension because we knew an awkwardly fitting ZeXal Weapon was coming, but things like Number 107's Summoning appearing in the opening of its season are also not subtle at all, and ruin the surprise more than they create expectation.

I mean, that's how I see it at least. Yet, I still cannot bring myself to not watch that 30 second preview at the end of each episode simply because it exists....

Realistically, you know the outcome of the majority of episodes a couple of minutes in, previews or no previews, yugioh is just predictable a lot of the time. I don't necessarily watch most episodes to be surprised. I know Yuya will win, I just want to see which cards he uses to do it. I'm a real sucker for those wiki spoilers, so it' a good job too.

Anyway, just using this site is often a spoiler in itself, like when that superheavy samurai that deals damage to both players was revealed and everyone instantly figured out that the duel would end in a draw.

Regarding the Shun vs Sora thing, yeah, I'll be very surprised if Shun doesn't win. They sort of need him to be in the tournament for his plotline to continue, but Sora's can continue just with him on the side-lines, like he has been so far. He'll blatantly be a more major villain at some point, but probably not all that soon. I feel like, regardless of who win's the tournament, All our main characters will end up being selected for reiji's plan, since he needs more than one person I believe.

Oh, and nice scapegoat, dragon...things, Sleepy.

Yeah pretty much, and that is sort of fine (I mean I still end up tuning in regardless so the damage is probably not all that big there), but it'd be so much better if they could pull it off more often. The nature of the show itself makes that really hard to accomplish but they have in the past (arguably speaking that is).

Glad I'm not the only one getting the blatant future enemy sensor tingling from Sora. He's obviously this generation's Vector, but still, he also has sort of mixed in with the potential role of this gen's Joey so yeah.

As for the comment on the drawing of my sig, thank you. I drew them a while ago. They are cosplaying Scapegoats and Stray Lambs based on a Chinese legend where 4 beasts keep the sky in place from the 4 cardinal points. With the Yellow Dragon covering up for a giant hole in the Sky that an ancient godly fight broke. The monster at the time was killed by the goddess that repaired the sky in the legend, which I drew as the 6th goat that my sig lacks, but I never finished coloring:

During its time I made a thread with them at Showcase, it rests at page 10 of that section currently, which is where I recovered this scan from.

When/if I ever add backgrounds to them I'll immediately go to the card maker....... I think I talked enough about this xD

Yeah, I tend to still watch episodes even if I can predict what will happen, so long as I think the duel will actually be good. The only episodes of arc-v I've skipped thus far were the quiz episodes, whereas I can't even remember how many early zexal episodes I had no motivation to watch. Guess that just shows how tight arc-v's writing has been thus far.

Sort of wish their was another member of the current main group. Maybe a more collective person to replace that shiver kid. Some of Yuzu's lines consist of "Yuya...yuya", it's a bit annoying. Eh I just wish they gave her different lines at times instead. Liking the duels so far though. Also liking how as the season progresses, archetypes such X sabers and Gem-knights will continue to receive more support.

Not to mention, it's nice that we're seeing a female protag dueling quite a fair bit. We haven't had that since 5Ds with Aki.

Just watched le SUB <- Totally not a link

[spoiler=Thoughts on 33 subbed]

- The card Shun refused was a Pendulum card made just for Shun by Reiji.

- Reiji stated that the Heartland field spell was his gift to Shun, in order to bring out the best of his abilities.
- We learn that Shun's hometown (Which was once a place where everyone enjoyed duelling) was attacked by an enemy without warning and the town turned into a battlefield. He mentioned that trying to defend himself took quite a bit of effort.
- During the turn 3/4 dialogue, Shun said that they didn't have an organised resistance and learned that the only way to survive was to win.
