I am inclined to believe this.

Ayu was just great in general.

Annnnd Reira's gender is a mystery.

Not really, since he uses boku, which is a male-exclusive pronoun, to refer to himself, not to mention the reporter called him Layra-kun, which is a masculine honorific (though some people use it with their subordinates, regardless of gender).
• Reira/Layra is related to Reiji (younger brother); also gave off that emo feel I had of him last episode (even more than manga Ruka).
 • Ayu made that one error of trying to attack first turn; don't we all.
 • At least Ayu was actually happy about dueling, Reira was dry as hell (until last moment).
 • Reira was unresponsible; probably because Himika/Reiji were staring at him. (Probably why he was freaked out)

The way the higher ups have seemed to care about their employees and students at Leo Corporation kind of makes one forget what Reiji is capable of. I say this remembering what happened with Shingo's debut episodes.

Who knows what happened to that kid.....
I think he was freaked out by his mom. His look changed when Reiji appeared. I think it was more of an encouragement than being freaked out. Then again, Reiji hesitated to pet him at the end...
Good duel, I really like their deck concepts that Reira and Ayu have, it's nice to see a cutesy water deck after all the hardcore stuff Shark had going for him in Zexal. Ayu is adorable, and this duel cemented her status as my favorite of the tiny trio. Shivers kid is bottom, btw. No matter how cool Sketch Beasts are.

I agree that Reira seems to be encouraged more than frightened by Reiji. Himika was on some Norman Bates level s*** though. I'm really curious though, since we're moving right into the first round of the Junior Youth class next episode: WTF happened with Tatsuya's duel? I don't really care too much if we DO see him duel, but it seems odd that we wouldn't get even a glimpse of his when the most annoying of the 3 did and Ayu got a full one.

Finally got around to watching the episode. Stupid monsters *shifty-eyes*
I get the feeling Reira/Layra doesn't like his mum watching over him as he duels, but his look seemed to change when Reiji appeared.
He certainly gives off Haruto-like vibes as well.
Ayu getting so fired up that she forgot she took first turn was a tad funny.
Aqua Actress Guppy is adorable as f***
The result didn't surprise me at all as it gives us more time to get to know Reira/Layra as a character, and the fact that he said "nii-sama" to Reiji confirms that they're brothers.

I wonder if we are done with the junior division or if they'll show any more of it after these few important duels with Yuzu, Yuya, Noboru, and Sora.

I'm actually curious to see more duels in that category. It was refreshing to see non-Yuya play, and watch the cheerleaders actually show involvement in what they are supposed to be interested on.

Is it wrong if I kinda like Ayu more than Yuzu as a character now?

We still haven't seen Tatsuya duel, so probably we'll get a match with him sometime in the future.

He didn't mention who's he playing though, but then again Futoshi never got a note in episode either.

And it's fine if you like Ayu better than Yuzu; I can probably see where you're going. I think we saw more development out of Ayu than we do with Yuzu (even if she is learning to Fusion Summon from Sora).

Reira is so similar to Haruto it's hilarious. I do like how his monster resembles the Galilea and Keplar used by his brother though. And yeah, I reckon we'll be seeing more of the junior league, solely because Reira is in it. They wouldn't have introduced a character who's blatantly gonna be important in the future unless he was gonna duel again. This episode seemed to be setting him up to duel the blue-haired kid, as he was the only one who seemed to notice how sinister he was.

Looking forward to Yuzu vs Masumi next week. More gemknights! More masumi! (both are always a plus)

Hope we see Reiji duel again soon though, or Yuuto. Shun seems to have hogged the spotlight recently.

I suspect Tatsuya will eventually end up facing Reira, just because he's the character who reacted the most to Reira's odd behaviors.

Also, I've noticed a lot of Yugioh series tends to have a younger brother in some way attached to a primary rival. The brother usually ends up being a weak link to the otherwise untouchable rival character.

DM had Kaiba and Mokuba. (the number of times Mokuba has been targeted to get to Kaiba is almost a running gag)

GX had Zane and Syrus. (Camula exploited this at one point)

5Ds didn't really have one. It was big on orphans and minimal siblings. Closest family relationship was Rex and Rudger.

Zexal had Kaito and Haruto. Kaito freaking out whenever Haruto was threatened was ALMOST comical.

Trying to keep card games safe in this universe in near impossible, Even without solid vision, someone always shows up who makes damage real or something. It's like the holodeck from star trek; if something's not going wrong, it's not a normal day.

Joking aside, I guess they turn it down for the kids or something. It seems daft to us in the real world that duel monsters would be dangerous, but to them, it's like a motor sport or something. There's always a toned-down version for younger people.

MAJOR THEORY TIME, GO!
Now, Bree noticed something about Reira right as we started 27; I haven't watched further yet, but I do have some knowledge that makes this all fall into place, for me.

Rememer, only 5~ minutes in.

Reira looks like Sora.

Now, we know that Sora's last name has purple in it, like Reiji's has red, and Shun has black in it. This means that Sora is in the Reiji line... But Reira throws a new element into this by being another of the relative age group (slightly younger here, but I digress) with that name.

So, what might this mean?

Sora isn't Reiji in this world. He's Reira. That's why he's so interested in LDS, why Reira has that ratty old bear.

TNEUVUk.png

Another hint that leads me to believe this is his deck; Aside from playing a deck to emulate his brother (and drive home his brother is Yu Narukami), he runs Fusions.

I'm sure this was meant as a hint to connect him to Sora.

Then there's people above saying that Reira gives off a sinister vibe... Like Sora.

This means that Yuzu, given her apparent relation to Shun, is actually the Xyz Sora; Ruri Kurosaki.

This is all conjecture right now, but I have a strong feeling I'm at least on the right track. IDK if anyone posted this already, and if so, I apologize.
EDIT:
The Millenium Items are, at the very least, being referenced heavily here.

People in cards just like the Eye.

Reira's scene with his mother had a lot of similarities to the Rod and Key; The Key also could be used to alter memories, so it adds to LDS' memory wipe about shun.

Necklace could protect from other items; See Yuzu's bracelet.

The Scales could show up soon, given they were the source of the power of Fusion in Egypt.

Ring is evil as shit, so shouldn't be hard to figure where it would be.

Puzzle could show up later, but looks to be Yuya's pendant.

Could be seeing alt reality M-Items.
Hmm. Interesting theory. Reira DOES kind of resemble Sora, but I'm not sure if he really IS. Thing about these alternate versions of people is that so far they all appear to look almost indistinguishable from their counterparts to the characters. Yuzu is Yuya's best friend, bar Gongenzaka, and she thought Yuto was him. Hell, Shun is Ruri's freaking BROTHER and he mistook Yuzu for her. If he IS Sora's counterpart, wouldn't everyone have been "Oh wow, he looks like Sora, OMG"?

Nothr thing, something I brought up earlier but nobody ever responded to: If Yuzu's counterpart is Shun's sister, does that mean Yuzu has a brother she doesn't know about that's Shun's counterpart? Or hell, maybe she does know about him but he died young or something. All I'm saying is, it's a tad weird how Yuzu's counterpart has a brother and she herself does not.
Reira's face was the only thing showing.

And even then, Reiji and Shun don't look alike, but are counterparts.

So really, Ruri COULD be Yuzu.

Wait, Shun IS confirmed to be Reiji's counterpart? When was that confirmed, I don't remember that happening.

Isn't Reira the kids' age, not Sora's? Yuya and Yuuto are the same age, and Yuzu and Ruri must be pretty much identical, so it would seem odd for these 2 to be counterparts. Sora is definitely on of the fusion faction though (does this mean he's on Leo Akaba's side?), and Reira is definitely gonna be important in some way, hopefully he's not just a McGuffin like Haruto was.

...

Okay, I'm going to spell this out.

The theory is that Yuzu /is/ Ruri. I straight-up said this in my post. I think that her "dad" knows what's up. Yuto decided she wasn't Ruri not because she looked different, but because she used Fusion... Then she explained why and he understood and gave her a pass. This indicates that his fears could have been relieved. Magical Xyz Material Bangle adds to this.

I said there was an age discrepancy, but it's obvious Sora isn't much older than the kids himself. So some age discrepancy between different iterations doesn't seem that off. Especially if my Ruri/Yuzu = Sora theory pans out.

Shun being Reiji's counterpart is implied by their naming scheme, much like Yuya and his counterparts. Aka(red)ba, Kuro(black)saki, and Shiun(purple)'in. Purple and Black definitely speak to their worlds' summoning types.

I thought it was more or less established that Ruri is held captive somewhere, but Yuzu IS probably this world's counterpart of Ruri, the same sort of way Yuya is a counterpart to Yuto. There is something slightly amiss with her bracelet and the like, and her dad did dodge the question.

We just don't have much to go on yet. There's just so much going on in the background.

There's the fact Yuto and Shun seem to be from another dimension or something. Yuto strongly resembles Yuya, and Yuzu strongly resembles Shun's sister, Ruri. This makes me think that Yuzu is just Ruri's counterpart, and not her.

But she has a bracelet that seems to prevent the seeming paradox of Yuya and Yuto being in the same place, at least relative to her. It noticeably warps Yuto away, but never vice-versa. It did not react to Reira and Sora being in the same place, nor did it activate at any other point.

RAW: http://www.anime4fun.com/yu-gi-oh-arc-v-episode-29 (You can check this in a few days when they get the subtitled version)

been keeping up with the show, havnt seen the most recent episode but so far the series isnt bad, is a bit slow on its plot but its picking up, i have hope for it but i am overall enjoying it

Recent episode was just Reira vs Ayu.

You should watch it though, as it confirms Reira is related to Reiji; plus we see Ayu's Deck and other things.

That. duel. was. awesome! Just fusion after fusion all the way through! Result was predictable enough, but oh well. I hope Masumi is still tied to the plot, since she and the other lds students apparently had their memories of their match with Shun wiped. It would be a shame to just leave those 3 like that.
