This duel overall was kinda  interesting putting the gimmick of quizzes. IT was typical like any other duel Yuya had so far, but Yuya did debut a lot of good Entermate support. Hell, even the Hippo only came back only be fodder for Yuya's final trap...The only issue I got is that the big plot device in order to beat Kyuando was Fermat's a^n + b^n = c^n problem...Seriously, in an Action Duel like that, it was meant to be an auto-lose; A totally asspull for sure.

So next episode features Masumi facing against Yuzu and Sora and then Jin intervenes. MAsumi would likely use Absorb Fusion I suppose, while I do want to see how Yuzu really is holding up in terms of battle, because frankly just saying I want to get stronger isn't going to get you anywhere while watching Sora beat every player possible for a tiny filler segment in every of Yuya's duels.
I like how Yuya won the duel not by finally getting on Eita's level and being able to answer his quizzes correctly, he won BECAUSE he couldn't answer any of them. I expected some BS about him finally getting a quiz he knew the answer to, but he got to reflect 5000 damage because he got it WRONG. Nice one, Yuya, it really shows how Yuya is able to use his shortcomings to his advantage and learn from them.

It's been a whole month but I'm back.

As for the Quiz duel, I can see the dub now:
Eita: I'm the master of quizzes and trivia. How could I lose to an idiot?

For some reason, this episodes and duel remind me of "Q&A", an episode of the Batman where a former child prodigy, Arthur Brown, was frustrated because he lost at a game show and as revenge seeks out the people who wronged him as Cluemaster but was beaten when he couldn't answer who was the Batman. even though I never saw the episode (I'm waiting for the dub), Eita reminds me of Arthur Brown, being a cocky know-it-all. But what did Eita do to lose? guess the 5000 card question wrong?
Basically, Eita lost because Yuya was asked the 5000 point question and got it wrong on PURPOSE. He reflected the damage he would have taken with a trap, then souped up Odd-Eyes and attacked with that for game.

To be fair, the 5K point question could NOT be answered.
It's Fermat's Last Theorem.
Which is, as of present, unsolvable.

Technically, it was proven in 1995 by a British mathematician (given a ton of proof work). Considering the time limit, it can't be proven (given that there is a severely high level of math involved in doing so). I wouldn't expect Yuya to get it right, let alone most of the characters in the series.

I honestly wouldn't be able to prove it either, given the highest mathematics I am able to do at the moment is second-level calculus (and proving said theorem is definitely beyond my limits). Unless you're an university math professor or a person who specializes in extremely advanced mathematics AND can prove it quickly, it's an auto-lose for whoever gets it [unless you have a backup plan].

---

That aside (going back on-topic after my comment about inability to prove said problem), I did enjoy watching Eita get creamed by Yuya's rejection of the 5000 problem. Yuya turned his lack of knowledge into a weapon to severely wound Eita and set up for game; Eita deserved it for being condescending throughout the match.

In terms of the quizzes during the Extra Stage, I didn't see the 3rd person in Heavy Storm's art either; first one about Raigeki Break, I got correctly. The other quizzes Yuya got wrong were mostly likely card picture trivia like those two were.

At least Yuya brought back some old stuff + had new support for them, so that's nice.

Le RAW: http://www.anime4fun.com/yu-gi-oh-arc-v-episode-20
I will admit the Heavy Storm question did catch me out. I never noticed the 3rd person in the pic because it was very small and hard to notice.
One thing I enjoyed was when Yuya got the 5000LP question wrong on purpose just so that he can reflect the damage back at Eita because he deserved it.
On another note (even though it was on the field for like 5 secs), THE HIPPO RETURNED.

Heavy Storm caught me slippin' so bad. Also Fermat Theorem? Is that even fair? There's not even an answer is there? Should have been a match winner then or for 8000 points. In any case I enjoyed the duel and gimmick for what it was. Could  have also made it more even and made Yuya... idk not look like a retard? Hippo says please and thank you.
Duels like this don't bother me. Always going to be something like this. At least it's not filler. And by filler I mean REAL filler like what most of Zexal-II was. This duel was necessary in order for Yuya to qualify for the tournament arc and therefore relevant. Orbital dueling Yuma for Obomi's heart was not... We won't even discuss what happened on the moon...
To be fair I didn't realise the 5000lp question was to prove Fermat's Last Theorem until I saw the effect on the wikia. I google'd it, and technically there is an answer but it'd take too long to prove.

Honestly even though Fermat's Last Theorem was the most ridiculous trivia/quiz question to ever be put, it was really made to be a trap that could make you automatically lose, but not considering you'd gain 1k+ plus LP from other correctly answered Action Trap questions. Even so, 5k seemed like too much as opposed to being an even and middle number, and at least they didn't take it too seriously.

If Kyuando didn't know what the 5k question was and attempted it in the duel...time saved; minor character deeply humiliated.

I assume that in-universe, the 5000 question is ridiculously unfair. But otherwise, it's an enormous meta joke. People who understand the concept of the question realize how ridiculously unfair it is...and that's what makes it funny.

It's palatable because it's not played straight. The opponent didn't get it, and get it wrong, because that's a cop-out loss that would get fans enraged.

Admittedly, it would've been funny to see him try it + get humiliated.

He might be a quiz genius, but I'm pretty sure his math knowledge is far from the level required to prove it. How many 12-14 year olds do you know who can solve it? Probably none.

A lower amount might've been nice though, given anime is generally 4k LP duels and 5k is more than enough to OTK you.

On that note, interested in seeing how the Sora + Yuzu v Masumi match turns out.

Especially since she's using said duel to get the Dark Duelist to appear, should still be interesting nonetheless

Also, teh subs are available for us to watch
I was wondering what the Pot of Greed questin was, but turned out it was related to its teeth.

I enjoyed the other two kids calling the Shivering kid an idiot when he didn't properly listen to Sphin-Quiz's effect of destroying the highest level monster and burning its controller if Yuya got the question correct.

Did you guys see the preview. I hope Masumi doesn't get turned into a card.

I think all of us saw the preview dummy

Just because she's your favourite character? If she does, it'll be her own fault tbh. BUT I don't think he'll risk doing that because he'll be witnessed by Sora. (Yuzu doesn't count because she was shown as being unconscious when Shun appeared)

Reiji AKAba (red)
Shun KUROsaki (Black)
Sora SHIu'nin (Purple)

We have a rival cycle, as well.

So we'll have a SHIRO and an AOI, most likely.

Colors reminded me of the art in Qliphoth Sacrifice. Possibly there could be a color for every card type, but would saying red falls into the category of Pendulums? But what would make the Dark Duelist?

After jumping ship from a lagging subgroup, I caught up to Arc-V 20.

Action S/Ts aside, the entire Quiz archetype looks incredibly fun to play on either end, adding another layer of mind games to the mix while other effects can influence the right or wrong answers. Unlike the Quiz Panels which are static questions that can be answered via pure memorization. (Though to Jaden's credit, he did succeed at some of those "questions"...)

Giggled a little when shivers-kid began using variants of his catchphrase, particularly "he got shivered!"

"The Girl who Divinates - Hochu Mieru"

Yuya challenges the divination girl Mieru Hochu to a Duel, as his third one to earn the qualifications for the Junior Youth Championship. Even at the beginning, Yuya is already played around with by Mieru, who uses Flip Summon monsters. Mieru even correctly predicts that Yuya "cannot see what is in front of him" and launches a brutal assault with her pride-and-joy Ritual Monsters, causing Yuya to be unable to focus. Also, Mieru makes an inauspicious divination for Yuya...
