Which was why I brought up the Amnael reference. Anyway, this is one duel I am looking forward too. The first of four. The Cookmates could give the Madolches a run for their money. In a way this feels like all so far. After a main conflict was resolved a new plot takes the place. Then again it is yugioh so we should expect that.

Or, you know, basic storytelling. That too.

Plus Amnael was a major character, this guy has "one-off" written all over him.

I'll have to take your word for it as my experience with squint eyed characters is that when they open their eyes, nothing bad happens.

Open Eyes could mean:

 • Serious Mode
 • Genocide Mode
 • Sadist Mode
 • Epic Traitor Mode
 • Beautiful Squidward Mode

Any one of these could be his true form!!

I was thinking: Why does Yuya need to duel 4 times when he should be clear on just 3 wins?
He beat Xyz guy, Reiji, and Shuzo the same day (at least officially), and before that he could have beat something else.

I guess some of those were more casual than others, but one would think that Yuya is closer to 6 consecutive wins than he is to a 60% win rate out of 50 duels.

Either the show neglected having the little kids explain that piece or the "6 wins straight" he just told Sora about are a Chekov's gun for when he fails, though that doesn't sound like it'd be a surprise.

I think there are rules for what matches qualify. His huge number of matches against Gogenzaka to test Pendulums didn't affect his win ratio. Curiously, the matches against LDS also didn't affect his ratio, as in Episode 8, Reiji said that Yuya's record was 26/46, and in Episode 15, Yuya reiterates this, despite having beaten Hokuto.

As to what the rules for this are, no idea.

With the 6 straight wins, that seems to apply only if you don't have 50 matches yet. Yuya is already really close to 50 matches, so it does him no good to shoot for the 6 win streak anyway.

I haven't watched the Raw yet (Going to wait for the Subs) but there is something I noticed after seeing TCG very recently
The Cookmate monsters are probally the most one off monsters I have ever seen. I thought the Ra Yellow Headmaster with his Curry monsters was bad.... Not to mention that this entire Archetype is based around returning to hand and Doublng ATK of other Cookmate monsters. Wow.... Also Cookmate? Seriously? Couldn't they have least made the name a bit more original? The monsters in the TCG (if they are ever released) will be named Cookingpals. Calling it now

I also thought of the Ra Yellow headmaster when I was watching the episode as well. I mean seriously, what is it with one-off characters having a deck based on their passion?

I agree though, they could've thought of a more original name than "Cookmate".

I like the part where he opened his eyes and out from his eye came Anubis to get his revenge on YGO.
So from what I understand, his counter-strategy is to immediately fill up whatever gets Pendulum Summoned. Since it's obvious that Yuya can only do it once per turn, he's basically going to kill whatever potential big beaters Yuya summons as soon as he summons them. What I don't understand is that it looks like like each monster can only destroy one. So how come in the preview Yuya only Pendulum Summoned 2 and not the other 3 from the extra?

His opponent taking over his persona live is pretty interesting, and Sora also dueling in front of Yuzu as opposed to teaching her combos and stuff is pretty cool too. Because who wants to watch how Polymerization works when you can see it with cool effects instead?
Also, there's a future episode called The Shadows of Rebellion. Actual eggplant character development?

Interesting. I guess the guy having a strategy in mind for dealing with Yuya's Pendulum Summoning was rather smart of him, though I guess it's not yet occurred to anyone to simply run more MSTs.

Also, looks like that new Trap Yuya has in the prieview is a parallel rare. Wonder if he got it off Sawatari :V
The image of Odd-Eyes literally being happily forcefed to death is now going to be lodged in my retina for a while.

Michio has a very odd strategy...his Food Cemetery relies on Graveyard stacking as his strategy according to the Wiki. And the last time I heard that mechanic every used was Question. But Michio uses a reverse Pendulum strategy; Only he uses some initially used Cookmates and then uses cards like Wonder Recipe to spam a good amount of better ones all at once from his had. Plus, he can return them to directly counter against summons. Even as much as minor character goes, he's one guy that looks like total Pendulum Summon material; After all, he is one that depends on some player interaction and some other Cookmates to assist. Aside from the weak stats, looking forward to a more formidable offense from Michio.

And somehow there's this subplot involving Michio and his parents...yeah never caught up on this guy's issues but, once again the dub makes things more better to understand. And Sora teaching Yuzu/having some tournament training is also pretty neat.

Latest episode in a nutshell:
Gramma_Stuffum.jpg

Ok, dumb jokes aside...
Considering Chef-guy was being played out like Banner in GX, he only opens his eyes/enters serious mode when he takes things up a notch, so it's always amusing to see characters with multiple layers/etc.
Regardless, this episode is enjoyable, because they play a lot of stuff out for laughs/running gags

The cards looked somewhat pathetic most of the duel, but with the potential to be annoying, and I overall enjoyed the animations of the monsters on both sides a lot.

It's a perfect counter-Pendulum strategy since they destroy the monsters after bouncing them according to what I read, so no going to the Extra Deck this time, which took me a while to realize for some reason....

Yuzu is kinda disappointing me as of late. I get that she's on her weak stage still, but Sora is even showing his serious duels to her, yet she's still absent minded. I could understand her absent minded-ness at first, but it's been dragging to me, and she's supposed to have put her determined mindset ready like three times already. She really needs to snap out of it, and I hope she does rather than having this attitude bite her in the ass at the upcoming tournament, because that'd definitely be dragging her uselessness along too much....

Of course the Shiberu wouldn't be absent......

Well... the subs are out. (I checked the site not expecting the subs to be available)
So... Yuya now has more pets living with him.

Then we go into the subplot involving Michio's parents. Michio's mum was getting p***y with the Cooking School prinipal, because Michio has already qualified for the Junior Youth Championship and he's still signing him up for official matches. Also her husband is too busy doing prep work to come to the stadium.
