I called Shun having a shitload of Singing Lanius to stop them from gaining a load of life. THe strategy isn't terrible, given that all of the Lancers but Shun (and seemingly Tsukikage) are capable of using Pendulum Summon. Nice to see Shun and Yuya working together, especially via the Pendulum Summon that allowed Shun to actually do anything. Though Shun's cards are getting BS-ier and BS-ier by the duel. Though after next week that may not be an issue... GLoria looks like she may eventually be defecting to the Lancers, if this episode was anything to go by. If there are any cards the writers are making well, it's the ways Yuya takes advantage of Smile World. I like that they've had him incorporate effects into his deck to take advantage of what is at first glance a very mundane and weak effect. And finally... Wiping out a crapload of LP in one turn? ~British Soul~ Posted June 5, 2016 Report Share Posted June 5, 2016 [spoiler=Thoughts on 108 RAW]- Figured Sawatari and Gongenzaka would get their butts kicked off-screen, at least Shun and Yuya arrived just as they were beaten.- So the Tyler Sisters have a card that increases their LP every time a SS happens, it's certainly been a while since we last seen someone with more than 10,000 LP in the anime.- At least the Tyler Sisters look like they were having fun when the Rockets impacted into Liger, Grace most evidently.- And ofc we see the Obelisk Force converge onto the scene at the end, why am I not surprised? TBH, I kinda want him to be the one to make him come to his sense once and for all, what with both taking the role of the hero's rival in their respective home series (even if Kaito's status as Yuma's main rival was diminished following Season 1), but receiving completely opposite approaches in ARC-V (Jack's less noble qualities being adapted out while Kaito's are turned up to eleven). Grace is the cuter one, IMO. Not that Gloria isn't pretty, but Grace is definitely cuter. And knows it. I really like that Yuya immediately noticed that sharing the Graveyard put Gogenzaka at a huge disadvantage. Especially since the Tylers was then noted that they used Action Cards, so it balanced out. That's a good argument, while simultaneously BEING THE PROBLEM. Sawatari messed up again, but this time (like with Kaito) is forgivable because it was his fault, but he couldn't really have KNOWN that beforehand. I thought the Tyler sisters' strategies were very solid in this episode. It makes them seem legitimately dangerous. Yes, plot device cards and such, but it WORKS really well. They have a card to limit Summons, monsters that can't die by battle (Queen/Empress' effects), solid beatsticks in their own right, Amazoness Sword can help overcome STRONGER beatsticks by reflecting damage, a card that heals their LP based on opponent Summons, making them extremely durable, a card that negates Battle Damage if they'd be in danger of wiped out in one blow, etc. Like, I can genuinely see them as posing an incredible threat to most opponents in the Xyz Dimension. Seemed a bit odd that the Tylers seemed okay with the "show" and even losing rather gracefully, but they seemed to be looking for a thrilling Duel, rather than simply doing their jobs. Also found it cool that they noted that Shun and Yuya couldn't use Action Cards because they were protecting their comrades. This makes sense, since apparently, Academia can card defeated opponents still mid-Duel in multi-people Duels (Obelisk Force during Battle Royales), so yeah, Yuya and Shun getting out of the way would leave Sawatari and Gogenzaka open for carding. This is a very nice, pragmatic touch, but still makes it curious exactly how the carding process rules work. I still assume that the process somehow focuses on the presence of a Duel Disk and its current status (LP 0 vs Active Player, etc), and that civilians without Disks are simply easy targets because the absence of a Disk assumes LP 0 or similar. I'm curious why Obelisk Force members showed up right then and there. Did the Professor decide the Tylers weren't enough, and it just conveniently coincided with the Tylers losing literally seconds earlier? And seriously...next episode title is not even foreshadowing so much as blatantly saying "Guess what happens next episode?" [spoiler=Tongue In Cheek Reply]Yup! Shun dies! How'd you ever guess? OK...Wondering why Yuya didn't set Monkeyboard as a Scale, then he could've searched something and then added more. Oh wait, then Audience Chamber would give the Tyler sisters more LP if he summoned more stuff. Yuya plays plot device Spell Card + Smile World to win game. Yuya realizes that Gongenzaka got screwed up in his fight (obviously...if he has Spell Cards, his whole Deck is destroyed. Knowing Sawatari, he's going to spam the sheet out of every Action Card he finds; doesn't help.)Aster gets upset watching Smile World and orders everyone out to find him.Obelisk Force comes in and says they'll eliminate Yuya/Shun in place of the Tyler sisters.Like Shun mentioned, Yuya, do not expect your egao routine to work on them (OF); they probably don't give a sheet about it. (shouldn't that be With?)The first time it was summoned: "Sining Lanius" (Ofc it was rectified when Yuya revived it)And ofc there is the two spellings of defence/defense (not an error, but notable enough) used in the episode - Grace was impressed that their reputation was recognised, in this case by Shun asking if they were the duelists who used Amazoness decks (and Yuto knew that the Spade Branch was wiped out by Amazoness duelists)- With the shared graveyard thing, I liked that Yuya acknowledged that Gongenzaka would be at a disadvantage in tag duels.- Not gonna lie, I forgot about the "unknown being" inside Yuya, at least Yuya advised Yuto to keep his anger in check to prevent it from possessing him.- I did find it interesting that the sisters pointed out that Yuya and Shun couldn't grab action cards because it'd then leave Sawatari and Gongenzaka open to be cardified as they were defeated.- After the duel, Aster orders everyone to move out and follow him, well he did say there was no way he could lose to someone who "brings smiles through duels" or uses Smile World. [spoiler=Next episode]Yeah that episode title is too blatant to not guess what is going to happen. Late response, but meh. Yeah, it's weird but it gave the message "Video contains content from PONYCANYON. It is not available in your country." [spoiler=Episode Thoughts]Okay, it actually took me this long to distinguish between the Tyler sisters' names. Grace is the cuter one, IMO. Not that Gloria isn't pretty, but Grace is definitely cuter. And knows it.To be fair, it also took me a while to distinguish between the two sisters, though to be fair I got confused by the VJUMP scan showing the sisters and their ace monsters. Now, some things to note:There's nothing here that suggests Shun is being put into a life-threatening position beyond otherwise facing Obelisk ForceShun has established himself as an important enough character that I can't see him just being killed by random OF mooksif Frickin' Sawatari hasn't died to mooks by now, it'd be an injustice for Shun to.Now, the key sentence in this summary, to me, is "Impressed by Yuya's passionate beliefs, Kurosaki fights together with him."With that in mind, the "Falcon perishing on the battlefield" may have to do more with Shun losing the edgelord beliefs and getting it on with egaos. Flash Flyer - Sakura Posted June 7, 2016 Report Share Posted June 7, 2016 [spoiler=Reactions to previews]110: I don't think Shun will actually die to a bunch of Obelisk Force members who we can care less about, but appears that he gets severely hurt as a result of the fights (or suppose from adopting a new style of dueling that causes him to soften up on his fighting). Will reserve further judgment until next week; either he adopts more of Yuya's fighting style or actually gets beaten; probably the former. I can't see their Ancient Gear decks being able to 1-up RRs and PPals as they are (unless they're getting new stuff that's supposedly in SR03, which I doubt right now) Edo/Aster has a similar mentality to Jack (in both incarnations), so not surprising he thinks dueling is power; although this is more on the actual power thing ("I duel to kick your ass") and none of the Entertainment Dueling. I do hope Edo gets better Destiny HERO support; Dystopia is fine, others are meh. 111: This should be self-explanatory (and I'll expect that Yuya will spam more Smile World things) 112: A. Hmm, so Edo/Aster gets infected with the egao virus; suppose this means Yuya wins again. Going to assume that they have to duel and make the Academia smile. (Just make sure you can defend yourselves while doing that, k?) B. Dennis has returned, and he's going to fight Yusho. It may be the time we actually see Yusho duel, and likely get more information on Sky Magician. Oh right, and probably more Performage support (if Dennis hasn't gone full Ancient Gear by this point). I can't help but wonder how many more ways the writers are going to write Smile World into usefulness. Probably a few more times; right now, it's really bad on its own (unless you use some very specific combos to actually milk any mileage out of it). Will they turn good, which would feel awkward considering how they've been built up as evil, or will they be used to prove to Yuya that just 'cause they can egao doesn't mean they're good?
