• So it appears that Yusho had something to do with teaching some guys in Xyz, but he disappeared after the invasion. 
• Yuya apparently tries to explain the whole face sharing thing, but Yuto advises him not to. 
• I don't know what that lady told Yuzu in Fusion, but apparently assuming that she ran away from the academy due to her age. I have not read the script at the time of posting this.
• Asuka came back and is anti-Academia. This is going to be good. (Well, she did triple OTK them)
• NOW we see Yusho outside of flashbacks; Yuya will probably be elated to find out that his father is still alive, although in Fusion.
• Juvenile Officer's decks are bland as hell; they just happened to have a shitload of Fusion support cards in hand.

Heeeeeeey, it's the Duel Lodge from Zexal! Where Yuma fought Number 12-man! Good callback is good. I knew exactly what it was the second I saw them steps.

 

So THAT'S what Yusho's been up to. I dunno, he's still got a crapload of explaining to do, especially since he abandoned his son for three damn years. I hope Yuzu calls him out on that.

 

Fusion Dimension is... surprisingly pretty, actually. I really dig the aesthetic of the place.

 

Asuke is a BADASS from the get-go, and her Duel Disk might just be my new favorite in the franchise. It just looks so SLEEK.

 

Heeeeeey, no Ancient Gears! Still dogs that are machines, but I don't CARE. Their decks actually seem more viable than the Obelisk Force's, which is kind of funny.

 

Next week: GET READY TO ACCEPT THE D. I'm SO EXCITED.

This episode was just... amazing.

How come we didn't get any of that in the Synchro Arc? (Was it the DSoD movie?)

 

Finally they cleared up for good how other people (specially Shun) sees Yuya/Yuto relationship (Yuto "disappeared", but trusted his Ace to Yuya just before), and I also like how Shun strongly denies Yuya being Yuto a couple times (which makes sense having in mind they were bros). And I don't even need to talk about how Yuto is actually remembering he exists in this Arc (otherwise his "death" just feels pointless), interacting with Yuya, as it should have been since the beginning.

We get some insight on Fusion Dimension. I'm pretty curious how they will go with it and the "anti-academia" force there.

Also Yusho. Its like they wanted to compensate for all the episodes without any plot and started to don't hold back anymore. Damn son.

And even more, we have DRXD upgrade and Edo next episode.

I dunno what happened, but please keep this up writers.

Good thing it's bank holiday Monday, I can catch up with all the sheet I didn't get a chance to watch over the past few days, starting with my sub thoughts for 102.

- Kaito is aware that Academia has put a bounty on his head and assumes Yuya is with them because he knows his name.

- After Yuya's first turn, Kaito explains that it was a mistake for Yuya to challenge him after the defeat of Gongenzaka and Sawatari

- Yuya finally realises that he can't make everyone smile with his dueling when Yuto reminds him that it worked with Jack as they both wanted the same thing, but Kaito is ruled by hatred so communication via duelling at the same level won't work.

- After seeing DRXD, Kaito is right that Yuto was defeated, but was incorrect as to who beat him, not that he cares at this point.

- So the remains of the resistance are using Roku's duel Sanctuary as a hideout, I knew this because of the long climb up the stairs

- The group learns Yusho was in the Xyz Dimension as he was seen with an Xyz Dimension Duel Disk

- Yuzu wakes and witnesses a ferry load of people on their way to Academia, but draws some unnecessary attention and is chased by Juvenile officers

- Seems like the Juvenile Officers have different fusion toys

- Figured Alexis would use Rituals and use it to OTK the officers, and her duel disk is similar to the ones in GX

- After the duel, Alexis takes Yuzu to "You Show Duel School" (that sounds familiar) and meets with Yusho, well then.

- I also had to check to see if Alexis had the same jap VA, and yup she does. (I always do this, and I will next week too with Aster)

- Next episode will be awesome, can't wait to see what the DRXD upgrade is like.

- So.... I didn't watch GX in Japanese, did Asuka always sound that old? Like, she sounds like a woman in her 30s or 40s.

- The fusion dimensions is... actually pretty nice. It looks like a lovely place except for, you know, all the war crimes.

- It's interesting that something actually exists beyond academia. In synchro and xyz, it seemed very much like nothing existed beyond the walls of city/heartland. The city names and the dimension names were pretty much used interchangeably, and no mention of the rest of the planet was ever made. Are the other worlds just little pocket dimensions?

- Asuka has an anti-fusion odd-eyes rebellion. OK then.

- After making the obelisk force weak as hell, the writers needed to think of a way to make normal academia soldiers look weak in comparison, so they gave them even worse robot dogs

-Yuya's dad is just calmly sitting around in fusion, not even trying to find or help his son. I swear, if it turns hout he can jump dimensions at will, I'm gonna be so pissed at him.

- Next week, Aster Edo Phoenix returns (though I'm personally more hyped for the dark rebellion upgrade)

Why is it that someone goes into a Battle Royale with multiple unnamed mooks, they tend to use the exact same strategies and field the exact same cards? I understand standard-issue Decks resulting in similar Decks, but at least introduce some variance in the opening hands and plays.

I'm convinced they stack; especially Obelisk Force. In the case of the detainment dudes for Academia, I imagine that what they need to capture isn't really high in the skill level, so just give them whatever aggro fusion deck, and let them stack to field some super strong monsters fast and get it over with. I was convinced with this on Obelisk Force and Security because of their sort-of-OTK centered strategies. At first I was like "Why the frick do they always open the same moves???" and then I realized it's probably because they straight stack and cheat. I mean, it makes sense if that's your primary means of capin' dudes.

 

I mean, then the question remains why they don't just use some ultra-broken Tier 0 deck, but remember that this is Yugioh and don't think about it THAT much...

It is extremely annoying, but at least these guys seem to outright run a huge assortment of Fusion cards to buff their monsters, whereas the Obelisk Force seem to run 300 different combo pieces and Hound Dogs.

• Fairly sensational that I've literally seen 4 episodes of Zexal but that included one of the ones with the Duel Lodge so I actually recognised it. 10/10 location choice.
• To echo what someone else said, Alexis sounds like she's 30+ which... what. 
• Yusho funking sprung from nowhere like. Been about 90 episodes since he's had any meaningful relevance and/or appeared then in about 5 minutes you re-introduce the storyline, somewhat explain what he's been doing, introduce the fact he's somehow able to travel across dimensions, reveal he's using this to spread egao-dueling through them all, and then have him physically appear. I have no words.
• Aster appearing to fusion shokan when the people want D-Hero Xyz. Still should be cool.

- We all know Sawatari isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and this episode is another example of this, thus I shouldn't be too surprised that Sawatari didn't put two and two together when Gongenzaka responded to Sawatari's question about who Yuto is (though to be fair Yuto's name wasn't mentioned until episode 21). After all back in episode 7, he mistook Yuto (or Mr Mystery at the time) for Yuya following their duel.

- Shun mentions that if he and Yuto were present when Academia attacked Heartland instead of being in Standard, then there might not have been as many casualties.

- We learn that Yusho is able to travel across dimensions and that he was in Xyz 3 years prior teaching them how to duel and to remember to smile whilst duelling, though even in Xyz people branded Yusho a coward when Allen mentioned Yusho disappeared without warning, ofc Yuya still disputes his father being branded a coward.

- Figured when I first watched the episode that the reason Yuzu was being chased was because of them believing she escaped from Academia.

- Dunno why I didn't pick up on this when I first watched the episode, but the aesthetics when Machine Angel Ritual was used was different from when it was used in GX, though I'm not at all surprised.

• So Yusho ran away from the Xyz Dimension and that's why Alan calls him a coward (though we saw him later in Fusion hosting a new Duel School). Come to think of it, Kaito did have a moment after hearing Yuya's last name. Maybe that's why. 
• Yuzu got teleported to Fusion, and gets mistaken for a runaway student. (I guess she tried to tell them that she's from another dimension + not Academia student, but they don't want to hear it)
  • So, once you turn 10-11 (or graduate grade school), you go on to the Academia. (Hmm, so intermediate/high school don't exist and are essentially Academia; I don't know what the equivalent is for you guys in England and elsewhere)
• Asuka thinks Yuzu is a runaway, but she'll probably find out later that she got teleported b/c JMR was a psychopath.
• Even if Yuya told them what happened to Yuto, no one would believe him. Shun probably wouldn't either (tl;dr, Yugo beat Yuto, we got a dying moment and DRXD goes to Yuya)
  • Don't think we'll ever see Yuto in the flesh ever again.

Problem is that the plot also left Reiji, Jack, Crow and crew in Synchro Dimension. and we can't blame the movie eating all of Arc V's budget this time...can we?

Considering JMR was literally trying to take the entire City into the gap between dimensions, and then he got sucked in (and the only one sucked into that wormhole before it reclosed), I'm assuming he's dead or worse than dead.

 

And I'm assuming that the plot will eventually come back to those in the Synchro Dimension. As for now, I'm okay with them being left behind because I think the current cast should focus primarily on the Xyz Dimension (and Fusion Dimension rebels), which should be enough characters and plot potential before throwing in a handful of characters that will probably bog things down by having TOO many protagonist characters.

So, the big question in 106 is: Fusion You Show, or Standard You Show? By pretty ballsy of the writers to have Yuri card all them guys... Of course, this means we may not be seeing Yugo v Yuri for a while, as seeing that duel through a flashback would piss me off. The minor questions relate to Yusho's 'slow' talk. Did he have a stroke or something? As someone else mentioned, Melodious Rituals would be funky, as would Cyber Angels Fusions.

Amazonesses... *Cries manful tears of joy*. Also, Gongzenka and Sawatari now exist solely for other duelists to show how strong they are. There goes any chance of Sawatari getting continued devolpment, or Superheavys getting good support.

108: Using Sawatari and Gongenzaka as a way to show off how strong these two sisters are, interesting. At least they weren't cardified by the time Yuya and Shun arrive.

- Gotta love how the preview just causally mentions that Kaito duels Shun. How is that not an episode or two in and of itself?

- So those twins are called Grace and Gloria Tyler. That's really interesting, you don't normally see many western characters in thi-........ they're gonna be Japanese anyway aren't they?

- And they use Amazonesses. Interesting. Did they ever have fusions before?

- Yuya and Shun against the twins should be very cool, just to see the two finally fighting together after so many episodes.
