[spoiler=Reaction to Arc-V news]

Edo's gonna show up? Yessss

And in Xyz dimension, no less, as a famous duelist. Famous before the academia invasion, I'm assuming, cuz I don't think the people have much time for entertainment while they're being hunted.

Truly strange that so many GX characters are in Xyz. Maybe they can't get enough good characters from Zexal. They could use Shark and Rio (f*ck Kotori). If Shark never shows up, I'll be highly disappointed.

Yugo's not coming? No! Who will be our comic relief now? Sawatari?!

[spoiler=Episode 93]

Duel between Sergey and Jack starts, and every Common stops rioting to watch, because card games are just that important.

Jack is surprisingly great with kids.

Earthbound Beginning has Aslla Piscu on it. Please let there be original Earthbound support. Please, Konami?

Earthbound Plain's useless, but it does look really damn cool, with the dark energy surrounding the duel lanes and the hands and everything.

[spoiler=Episode 94]

Gremlina's pretty darn useless. Gremlin, however, reminds me of Sky Pegasus, and I really liked that card and the player choice it gave. And the final boss? It's still not a proper Earthbound! Come on!

What is that thing Jack did? That was really cool.

Jack seems to have the magical ability to induce character development in everyone around him. Can't wait for the duel vs Yuya.

[spoiler=Scale 7]

Biggest question from last chapter (what are Yugo and Yuri doing?) is answered, but in a very vague way. My take on it is that they're both riding around in Yuya's mindscape shattering shards of his memories so Yuya won't remember them.

Why couldn't Yuya just ditch Yuzu? Does she know the exact location of his hideout?

I wonder about those three cards Reiji tossed over. Has Reiji already managed to reproduce Yuya's pendulums? Are they going to break like his first pendulums did in the anime? And if two of them are pendulums, what's the third card?

Yuto immediately turns over control to Yuya when Sora confronts them. Why? Doesn't Yuto get to duel? Is it because Yuya's the better duelist between the two, or because Yuto's willing to step aside and let Yuya duel? I don't want to see Yuto get sidelined.

And when they switch in the middle of a duel, do their decks change? Yuya never seems to draw into any Phantom Knight cards, and Yuto never uses Yuya's cards. If it does change, that is serious cheating. But it's not like anyone cares.

[spoiler=Response] Depends on how you define a "proper Earthbound"; from my point of view, there's a de-facto hierarchy here in the "Earthbound" archetype with the Earthbound Prisoners being the lowest, then Earthbound Servants being higher than that. If I had to guess, based on their image callbacks, the actual Nazca Immortals are the highest tier.

Besides that, Sergey's final boss has a cool name.

[spoiler=94 thoughts]

  • Was expecting Jack to have an evolved form of Scarlight (and yes, Burning Soul) but this will do for now. At least the ending was glorious.
  • Watching JMR go crazy after Sergey's program broke was hilarious.
  • Yuzu made more mentions to "egao" to JMR.
  • ARC-V Jack was really good this episode; enough that he bothered to save Sergey twice even after he became psychotic (if he wasn't already nutty as-is).
    • Though Sergey chose not to be saved and decided to fall to his death after the match.
  • Although the Commons are still rioting, they still applaud Jack for his performance.
  • Oh yay, more Earthbound cards; though I don't think they'll become a viable Deck anytime soon (and forget about Thorn Prisoners).

[spoiler= ]By "Proper Earthbound", I mean one that:

Dies without a field spell

Can't be targeted for an attack

Can attack directly

Has Earthbound Immortal in its name

Kind of doubtful that we'll be getting actual 5Ds Earthbounds from Sergey, so I'm just going to settle for really good support. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten anything remotely resembling good support yet either, with the exception of Salvation, and if Sergey dies here or doesn't get another duel in before they move on to Xyz dimension, our only hope for Earthbound support will be Konami buffing these cards significantly upon their release.

(and forget about Thorn Prisoners).

Funny, I think that's exactly what Konami's going to do.

[spoiler=Response]

Considering this is an AU version of 5Ds, kind of doubting we'll actually get more bona fide EBIs like Season 2 of 5Ds had. As for RL releases, they'll probably buff the stuff we've seen already, since a few of the cards are underwhelming by today's standards.

Though, Sergey's deck is literally reliant on Underworld Synchro Fusion, so without it, not going to work too well (if at all).

Thorn Prisoners had the potential to be interesting, but we only saw them...what, one or two times, and not very many of their members.

[spoiler=Response] I know that you meant the Earthbound Immortals, but I was just implying that the term "proper" is a matter of opinion because they're all in the "Earthbound" archetype at the end of the day.

Also Sergey's current set of Earthbound cards getting significantly buffed is what I'm hoping for, as it'd be a waste to just trash them, given how many there are.

Well that was quick. Quicker than the previous two weeks at least.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 94 Subbed]

- So whilst Sergey thinks that Jack's non-changing facial expression is boring, it just shows that he isn't fazed at all. Ofc when Sergey started to destroy the course, Melissa complained about it. (It's not like there's another match or anything)

- It's not surprising that Jack chose not to destroy RDA as he explained that it's the symbol of his soul and asked if you would discard your soul if you challenged someone to a fight. (Although Sergey said one doesn't need a soul) The commons agree that he wouldn't destroy it, whereas the tops believe it is the better option, the same with JMR who then explains to Yuzu about Gremlina's effect.

- Yuzu has a point, a world created through oppression (that JMR wants) has no meaning, yet JMR claims that her ideal world, where everyone can smile is nonsense

- It wasn't until RDA saved Sergey that the latter thought the duel was beautiful, heck even Gongenzaka was moved.

---

- In the preview for the next episode, (despite Sergey losing) JMR says he is declaring "martial law" in his attempt to take control of the city.

This was a really good episode. A little surreal at some points, but good.

[spoiler=Actual Comments]

It simultaneously pleased and annoyed me when Sergey and Jack started ignoring Action Cards. It made sense, but it almost felt like a plot hole, except this was also something that pleased me because it gave things more impact, ESPECIALLY since Sergey could have won by grabbing an Action Card.

It also helps that Sergey is completely insane at times.

The massive symbolism of Jack protecting his "soul", RDA-Scarlight, is extremely powerful and deep, and that seemed to really hit Sergey, perhaps indicating that while Sergey is pretty much psychotic, he is still at least partially human. Perhaps it had even more impact because of little humanity Sergey really has left.

I also got the impression that Sergey is a ruthless Duelist, but what he's wanted is a Duel that he can savor in all its intensity. He said Damon in the first round was worthless and boring, and Yuzu was fascinating and beautiful because she "believed she had already won". Seeing the sheer determination and power that Jack holds would be fantastic for him.

Jack saving Sergey was touching in a bizarre way. It shows the level of respect that Jack has for the Duel and concluding the ones that are ongoing, and his opponents, even someone as detestable as Sergey. Even though saving Sergey could have directly caused him to lose (by putting him within range of an Action Card), he didn't take the easy option of winning by default, even though it'd have been Sergey's own fault for destroying the track.

So of course, Sergey would prefer to see the Duel through in all its intensity, because winning by Earthbound Plain's burn (especially after being saved from near-death) would have been sickeningly anti-climactic. As for Sergey rejecting the second attempt to save him after losing, my hunch is that Sergey wanted to die at this point.

Sergey has been reduced by this time to being barely human. He's part machine and is just a tool to be used by JMR, and he pretty much knows it. He's been put through a bunch of mind-altering surgeries and several of them seem to have broken previously. (JMR's comment during the Duel with Yuzu suggested that Sergey's programs or whatever have broken before and needed to be fixed).

Also, there was Sergey's breakdown vs Yuzu, when he revealed how psychotic he was. He kept saying "Endured". And his backstory seemed to be that he was a major criminal, got arrested, kept crushing people in Duels violently, and got sent underground, where he proceeded to destroy pretty much everyone before being given to JMR, who then put him through the mind-altering and cybernetic upgrades.

Losing to Jack was his last real chance to feel "alive", and so he would prefer to die on a high note, at the climax of the most epic and intensely satisfying Duel against the King.

[spoiler episode thoughts]

- This may be the first time an episode has so loudly screamed "character is getting a new boss monster" and then not given them one. This entire duel felt like it was building to a Scarlight upgrade, but the final destiny draw was just an equip spell.

- Not sure how I feel about jack's new deck/ duelling style. Smacks a wee bit too much of Yuma's summon boss monster turn one, spend the entire duel keeping it alive" routine. Still, at least Jack and Scarlight are actually cool enough to pull it off.

- The earthbound servant monsters look really cool. Hope they're released with a buff in the next set. Missed opportunity for cgi though, and for Glaysa labolas to be an actual immortal.

- Sergey got a true 5Ds villain death: falling off a tall highway into some a poorly lit area.

- Jack was on absolutely top form here. This was the episode that made it clear why he was the king.

- seeing Roger finally snap is ssoooo satisfying.

- Looks like just about everyone is duelling next time, while I doubt we'll see much of it onscreen (and the chances of seeing much of Reiji's duel is approximately zero) I'm still excited for next week :)

[spoiler=Didn't read script this time]

  • As I've said before, duel was epic and Jack ended up winning again. (Wanted to see AU Scar-Red, but suppose that'll have to wait. Current ending was cool though)
    • After Jack took his Action Card, the duel went back to a regular fight.
  • Sergey destroying the course again (well, he's already a psychopath so I shouldn't be too surprised)
  • JMR losing his sheet during the match was fun to watch.
  • Jack chose not to destroy RDA-S because that's his soul; then again, I don't think 5Ds would even dare to destroy RDA for the same reason. (Yusei would gladly sacrifice himself though for his friends)
    • Though even if he had to destroy it, Jack wouldn't know about Gremlina's effect since we only learned about it from JMR's dialogue on the side.
  • Yuzu references "egao" and JMR dismisses it as nonsense, though that's expected since he's a power hungry maniac at present (and he'll do anything to keep his power, even declaring martial law on City in the next episode).
  • Well, I suppose that Jack was able to get through to Sergey's mind during this match, so there's something (although it required that Jack save him from falling to the collapsing course).
    • I am going to assume Sergey is pretty much dead at present after he fell a couple hundred feet.
  • They're going to have to find a new course for Jack and Yuya to take for their match since Sergey destroyed that one, but they got plenty of them.
  • Commons stopped rioting to watch the match.

[spoiler=Script 95]

Last Time’s Egao Count: 107

Yuya: Shinji and others who have escaped from the underground facility stirred up a riot.
As the City fell into a state of chaos, the Jack vs. Sergey match was carried out.
After merging with his D-Wheel,
Sergey transformed into a running Duel Machine, and while he pushed Jack to his limits,
In the end, Jack was able to make a great reversal and seize victory.

(Opening Sequence)

Melissa: The winner is Jack Atlas!
While he was cornered by Sergey until the very end,
He managed to seize victory through a splendid reversal!
This is the King’s entertainment!

Melissa: The defeated Sergey fell off the highway course,
Will he be all right?

Sergey: HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Commons 1: He can still move!?

Commons 2: He’s a criminal known as the Duelist Crusher.

Commons 3: If he recovers, he’ll stir up troubles again…

Three Commons: *nod*

Commons 1: And he’s a dog of the Tops as well!
Let’s strike him down while we can!
Get him!

Jean-Michel: Revive!
Hurry up and revive yourself, Sergey!
You’re immortal! You’re immortal!

(No signal)

Jean-Michel: No…
This can’t be real…
Sergey…my trump card…
MY DREAMMMMMM!
Damn it! Damn it all!

Security Officer 1: The Tops in sector AA01 are requesting help!

Security Officer 2: Many Tops are stranded in sector AB03 as well.

Security Officer 3: The Common rioters have broken into the Tops’ residential area,
So the Tops are having troubles escaping!

Security Officer 3: They keep asking us to “eliminate the Commons as soon as possible!”

Jean-Michel: “Eliminate”?
Very well.
To all Security units deployed in the City.

Jean-Michel: Do everything you can to suppress the Common rioters right now!

Jean-Michel: Do whatever you need to do.

(Police brutality)

Tony: They’ve finally showed up!

Damon: We’ve already taken that into consideration!

Shinji: As long as Security is around, we won’t be able to overthrow the Tops’ society.

Damon: I summon Alien Soldier!

Tony: I summon Zombie Carrier!

Shinji: I summon Bee Force - Arbalest the Quickshot!

Shinji: Let’s do this!

Tony: We shall avenge our grudges!

Damon: They shall feel the rage of the Commons whom they’ve oppressed for so many years!

GONGENZAKA: Security has begun their crackdown!

Yuya: And the Commons are resisting through brute force…

GONGENZAKA: At this rate,
A war is going to break out in the City!

Tops: This way! Hurry!

SAWATARI-SAN: The whole town’s in a big mess.
Seems like we won’t be able to get there so easily.

Reira: Brother…brother…brother…

Tokumatsu: If it’s come to this,
I’ll have to create an opening.

Tokumatsu: While I’m attracting their attention with my Enjoy Duel…

SAWATARI-SAN: It ain’t gonna work, obviously!
There’s no way anyone is gonna enjoy in this situation!

Tokumatsu: Shut up!
I’ve made up my mind, so I’ll do it!
That is a man’s way of life!

Reira: Stay away…

Reira: Stay away…

Reira: If you come near me…I…
I’ll destroy all of you!

Tokumatsu: Reira!

SAWATARI-SAN: Hey! Don’t you go off on your own…!

Tokumatsu & Sawatari: Kurosaki!

Captain Falcon: Calm down.
This is not your battlefield.

Jean-Michel: Citizens of the City.
I am the Director of the Public Security Maintenance Bureau, Jean-Michel Roger.
Since the Commons are rioting everywhere,
I have received requests from many Top citizens who wish for order in the City to be restored.
Therefore, I hereby proclaim martial law!

GONGENZAKA: Martial law!?

Jean-Michel: At this moment,
All laws will be suspended,
And I myself shall now hold all executive and judiciary power.

Gael: Seems like he’s finally taking drastic measures.

Grey: He even went as far as proclaiming martial law.

Azul: He thought that if he used Sergey to defeat Jack, the citizens of the City would bend to his will, but…

Bordeaux: He lost in the end.
Right, President?

White Taki: Right.
That was a big miscalculation on his part.
Now then,
Since Roger had taken measures,
What will you do about it?

Yuzu: Don’t let him deceive you!

Jean-Michel: Ah!

Yuzu: Roger’s goal is not restoring order to the City!
He’s taking advantage of the conflict between Tops and Commons,
So that he can take control of the City through force!
You can’t allow him to do that!

Yuya: Yuzu!

Yuzu: Now is not the time to be fighting against each other!
The Tops and Commons have to put their conflict aside, and unite!
The Synchro Dimension will be targeted by Academia as well!
You have to join forces and protect it!
You have to protect your hometown!

Yuzu: Yuya! Please answer me if you can hear me.
Stop the conflict!
The Entertainment Dueling we learned at You Show School is supposed to make people smile…(Egao Count: 107+1=108)

Jean-Michel: Enough!

Yuya: Yuzu!

GONGENZAKA: Wait! Yuya!

Yuya: Don’t stop me!
I have to save Yuzu right now!

GONGENZAKA: Is that really what she wants!?

Yuya: Even if you say so, Yuzu is in danger right now!
Are you planning to abandon her!?

GONGENZAKA: Sora and Tsukikage will save Yuzu for sure!
Have some faith in your friends! Yuya!

GONGENZAKA: Like Yuzu said,
We’d better think of a way to put an end to this riot.

Sam: Yuya-san!
I’ve finally found you!

Yuya: Sam! What are you doing here?

Sam: I was searching for you!
Jack asked me to.

Yuya: Jack?

Sam: Yes.
He said I have to convey this message no matter what…

JACK: I’m very disappointed with Sakaki Yuya’s semifinal match.
During his Duel against Crow,
I can only feel a desire to suppress everything through brute force.
If that’s the kind of Dueling he’s aiming for,
He no longer needs to fight me!

Yuya: I don’t need to fight him!?

Yuya: I don’t remember much of my Duel against Crow.
What I remember…
Is the feeling that I want to wield strong power.

GONGENZAKA: Now is not the time for this!

Yuya: Why did Jack say that?

GONGENZAKA: The situation is different now!
You don’t need to think about it!

Sam: Jack said I have to convey this no matter what.
That is my role.

Yuya: Role?

Sam: Jack said this.
If that is not the kind of Dueling you’re aiming for…

JACK: …He should prove it through a Duel!
So that I can know that this is the Dueling that Sakaki Yuya believes in!
If he wants to accomplish something…
He must not falter!

Yuya: The Dueling that I believe in, from the bottom of my heart…

Yuzu: The Dueling we learned at You Show School is not supposed to be used to hurt people.
Entertainment Dueling is supposed to…

Yuya: …make everyone happy, and bring them smiles…(Egao Count: 108+1=109)
Smiles? (Egao Count: 109+1=110)
Jack also used Duels to make people fired up and bring them smiles… (Egao Count: 110+1=111)

Yuya: Could it be that Jack…

Sam: Yuya-san!?

GONGENZAKA: Yuya! Where are you going!?

Yuya: I’m going to the Duel Palace!

GONGENZAKA: The Duel Palace?

Yuya: Jack is waiting there!
So that we can save the City through our Entertainment Duel!

Yuya: Yuzu fought hard.
Though imprisoned, she still tried her best to entrust me with her wish…
Now, it’s my turn to fight!

Gael: Where are you going? Wait!

Grey: This building is surrounded by Security, you know!

Azul: Roger proclaimed martial law,
And he’s going to take strong measures.
Are you going to just abandon us at a time like this?

Bordeaux: That would mean he admits that he lost against Roger, right, President?

White Taki: Well, what will you do?

{Chess Commercial. Brb}

Tokumatsu: We finally got to this place.

SAWATARI-SAN: Yup!
This is all thanks to the excellent combination between me and Kurosaki!

Captain Falcon: It’s not going to take long.
You’ll be able to meet your brother soon.

Reira: Brother…brother…

SAWATARI-SAN: But there’s a final obstacle standing in our way…
It’ll take a lot of efforts to break through that…

Tokumatsu: As I thought, I just gotta do this, don’t I?
I’ll attract their attention with my Enjoy Duel,
While you guys take Reira and break into the building!

SAWATARI-SAN: How many times do I have to tell you!?
It’s not going to work…!

Tokumatsu: ENJOY!

Reiji: I activate Kali Yuga’s effect!

Tokumatsu: AAAHH!

Reiji: By detaching an Overlay Unit,
I can destroy all Magic and Trap cards on the field.

Reira: Brother!
Brother!
Brother!
Brother!

Security 1: Don’t let Akaba Reiji escape.

Security 2: Capture him.

Gael: Stand down.

Grey: Even if Security is operating under martial law…

Azul: Since we are members of the City Council,
They are not allowed…

Bordeaux: …to lay a finger on us. Right, President?

White Taki: Exactly.
We’re the highest authority in the City, after all. Hohohoho!

Reiji: Highest authority…
It’s certainly true that you guys have a lot of authority.
But if you only use that to protect yourselves, don’t you think that it will be meaningless?

Gael: We’ve always done this.

Grey: If we are safe, the City is safe.

Azul: Everything’s been going smoothly because of that.

Bordeaux: Right, President?

White Taki: Right.
We should not carelessly change the balance of our society.

Reiji: But now you have descended from up above the clouds…
And chased after me.
Meaning you are afraid that I’m going to abandon this dimension.
In other words, you’re afraid that you can’t no longer just stand on the sidelines and watch while I and Roger duke it out, am I right?

Reiji: It was all good until now.
If you join the winning side,
Everything will be fine.
But with Academia’s attack,
The situation has changed.

Reiji: This is your world.
An outsider like me can’t really complain about it.
However, I want to make something clear.
Those who watch from the sidelines,
Have no right to talk about the future!

GONGENZAKA: Curses!
How long is it going to take to get to the Duel Palace while this is going on!?

Yuya: There has to be another way somehow…

Tanner: If you want to go to the Duel Palace,
There’s a shortcut over here.

Yuya: Frank! Amanda! Tanner!

GONGENZAKA: You three are safe?

Tanner: Of course!

Frank: Crow keeps telling us to keep on living without giving up,
So there’s no way we’d kick the bucket so easily!

GONGENZAKA: Crow is not with you?

Amanda: We split up,
So that we can search for Yuya, Sora, and Serena.
Maybe Serena is already…

Yuya: No.
Serena is already sent back to Academia.

Amanda: No…

GONGENZAKA: We Lancers will definitely rescue Serena!
But first, we have to stop this riot somehow…

Frank: Well, there’s not much we can do about it.
The whole City is in chaos!

Amanda: Nobody is going to listen to us!

Yuya: That’s why we have to go to the Duel Palace!

Tanner: But why the Duel Palace?

Yuya: Jack is waiting there.
We can save the City, with the Entertainment Duel that we believe in!

Frank: Eh!? You’re seriously going to do that?

Tanner: Then, you’d better hurry up!
We know the roads of this City like the back of our hands.
Just follow us!

Frank: Hey! Tanner!

Amanda: Let’s go!

Yuya: Thank you! Everyone!

Amanda: If you want to say thanks,
Say it after you’ve saved the City!

Tanner: And you’d better win against Jack!

Frank: I’m sure Crow would want that as well!

Tony: Damon!

Shinji: Are you all right!?

Tony: You think we’ll let it end like this!?

Shinji: Our revolution has only just begun.
We won’t give up!
But at this rate…

Crow: Spread your jet-black wings,
And charge through your enemy with thunder!
Slash through the lightning!
Synchro Summon!
Rain down your attacks on them!
Assault Black Feather - Raikiri the Sudden Shower!

Shinji: Crow!

Crow: We’ll talk later!

Crow: I activate Raikiri’s effect!

Tony: You were a big help, Crow!

Damon: Yeah! You’re finally here!

Shinji: If you fight together with us,
Our revolution will succeed for sure!

Crow: Don’t be stupid!
Did you not see Yuzu’s broadcast!?

Crow: Now is not the time for this Tops vs. Commons stuff!
We have to join forces, so that we can protect our hometown and the future of our children from Academia!

Shinji: We’ll do that after we overthrow the Tops.

Tony: We won’t forget our grudges!
We won’t be satisfied until we have our revenge against the Tops!

Damon: There’s no way we can just shake hands with them and go “Okay, we’re cool!” when they never apologize to us even once!

Crow: Even so,
If this City where we are raised…
If this country…
If this world is destroyed, what will we do!?

Shinji: For us, eliminating the Tops is more important than Academia at the moment!

Tony: If you’re not fighting for us…

Damon: Then you’re an enemy as well!

Shinji: Sorry about this, Crow.
But we’ll see this revolution through by all means necessary!

Tanner: Look, we’re here.

Amanda: Now, if we just go straight ahead…

Frank: We’ll reach the Duel Palace!

Frank: Whoa!?

Commons 1: Bring out the Tops who are hiding in the Duel Palace!

Commons 2: You can’t stay cowering in fear while being protected by Security forever! You cowards!

Yuya: Stop it!
Now is not the time for this!

GONGENZAKA: Just stop the riot and let us through!
We’ll have to get to the Duel Palace no matter what!

Commons 1: Huh? Hey! There’s still some bastards seeking refuge on this side!

Commons 2: Get them!

Commons 3: Anyone who tries to get into the Duel Palace is an enemy!

GONGENZAKA: If it’s come to this, I, the manly Gongenzaka, shall put my life on the line to protect Yuya!
No matter what happens to me,
I’ll make sure that Yuya gets to the Duel Palace!

Yuya: Gongenzaka!

Amanda: That’s…!

Three kids: Kurosaki!

Captain Falcon: Yuya!
Get on!

Amanda: This is awesome!

Yuya: Kurosaki! How do you know we’re here?

Captain Falcon: If you heard Hiiragi Yuzu’s wish, you would try to get to the Duel Palace…for sure.

Yuya: Reiji.

Melissa: W-what is this? What’s going on?

Melissa: Hey, guys!
We’ve got some filming to do!
I feel like something interesting is about to happen!
Let’s go!

Melissa: Suddenly, Sakaki Yuya showed up while riding on a monster!
What is he planning to do in this situation!?
Maybe since the Friendship Cup’s final match is…

SAWATARI-SAN: Okay…Let me borrow this for a while.

Melissa: Hey, what are you doing!?

SAWATARI-SAN: Sorry, but it seems like that guy has a few words to say.

SAWATARI-SAN: Take it away, Yuya!

Melissa: HEY!

Yuya: Everyone! Listen!
I want both Tops and Commons to stop fighting for now,
And listen to what I have to say.

Crow: Yuya?

Yuya: I’m going to fight Jack Atlas in the final match of the Friendship Cup!

Jean-Michel: I won’t tolerate you acting without my permission when the City is under martial law!
This final match is illegal!

White Taki: I believe your power was suspended a while ago, no?
Therefore, we, the City Council, think that your martial law is invalid as well. Isn’t that right?

Jean-Michel: Those senile old fools…
Even now, though I still have power, they still plan to oppose me!?

Sora: The place where Yuzu is held…

Tsukikage: …Is definitely the Public Security Maintenance Bureau.

Yuya: I want to appeal to everyone.
Dueling is not a tool for conflicts.
Duels are supposed to make people happy,
And bring them smiles! (Egao Count: 111+1==112)
I’m going to prove that through this Duel!

(Preview for Episode 96)

Yuya: I’m going to Duel against Jack Atlas right now!
But Dueling is not a tool for conflicts!
Duels are supposed to make people happy,
And bring them smiles! (Egao Count: 112+1=113)

Jean-Michel: How dare they…
Arrest all those who dare oppose me and carry out this final match without my permission!

JACK: I won’t let anyone interfere!
If you care about the City’s future,
Watch this Duel closely with your own eyes!

Yuya: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V:
Borrowed Words
The fun has just begun!

Thank DMC3444 for the script

[spoiler=95]-The riot continues.
-Sergey is broken, barely moves, and Commons are trying to finish him off. I wonder if this is the end for Sergey. I wouldn't mind him appearing in more episodes.
-JMR goes crazy again... and scary. RIP his trump card. Like martial law is gonna stop the executives.
-Yuzu tells everyone that Tops and Commons should fight together against Academia, but I wonder how many people know what Academia is. If I recall correctly, Shun mentioned Academia during his duel against Dennis, but he didn't exactly say what it was.
-Didn't expect Crow to fight against Shinji and the group. They are really serious about fighting Tops.
-That RR transport was awesome. Why don't they use monsters for something like that more often?

-I like how Sora is working with Tsukikage to rescue Yuzu. I hope they succeed.
-Yuya announces his duel against Jack. And it seems JMR is gonna try to interrupt the duel.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 95 RAW]

Oh boy, another talky episode

- So Sergey is left broken, and still able to move as he's a machine, wonder if he'll survive being attacked by those Commons nearby who picked up sticks.

- JMR initiates Martial Law and has the Security act like drones again to supress the rioting Commons.

- So after a 5 episode absence, Reiji reappears and does stuff, like using Kali Yuga to destroy the Security's traps like the Mirror Forces and D Prisons.

- It was nice seeing Shun use the RR Xyz as transport for the majority of the Lancers (sans Tsukikage who's with Sora trying to rescue Yuzu) to get to the Duel Palace which is being blocked off by Security.

- Yuya announces that he will duel Jack.

[spoiler=95]

  • JMR's going crazy now and watching his character disintegrate is still hilarious.
  • Security / Duel Chasers become drones? OK...
  • Yuzu should've gotten the hell out of there after she knocked JMR into his chess table. (I would've said that Yuzu should've done other things to him [she still could kick him, but that's going beyond the scope of this anime being about card games])
  • Well, Sergey lost one of his arms after he fell down (and assume he got beaten to death).
  • Security lost all their backrow (which was a crapton of Mirror Forces); go Reiji.
  • At least Crow confronted Shinji about his revolt; looks like he still hasn't learned. (So much for character redemption, Shinji)
  • Yuya says he'll duel Jack (and now the plot thickens).
  • Preview shows JMR becoming even crazier. (Can I say he's already past W2 Ghetsis level yet in terms of insanity?)

[spoiler=spoiler]

Did they just use tubes and sticks to beat down Sergey to death? That's definitely not gonna make it to the dub, is it?

[spoiler=Response]

Looks like it (or just assume they beat him up).

They technically didn't show him getting hit, but it's implied that they did (and Sergey is now dysfunctional/dead).

As to whether or not they'll show it, I don't know. Again, we didn't see him getting hit, but judging from JMR's reaction, he probably was beaten multiple times.
