I guess this means Yugo is winning if the previous covers are any indication.

OEPD- Won against strong

DRXD- Won against Neo New Sawatari

REPD- Won against Mieru

CWSD- Killed Yuto (RIP)

OERD- Demolished 3 OF members at once (Hooray)

RDASR- Beat Yuya

EP- Killed the synchro communist movement

Did I call it or what?

Despite Roget's machinations, it looks like Serena will lose, which leaves the following matchups for the semifinals:

Yuya v. Crow

Yugo v. Sergey (I say this because it's the only way Roget could be as certain as he is it'd be Serena v. Yuya in the final round)

Which means Yuya v. Yugo in the finale!

HYPE!

Yeah, Yugo's probably going to win, but at the same time, we get to see more of Serena's stuff.

Also, because I am late as hell with writing this, sub thoughts.

[spoiler=84 sub]

  • Damn Roger, leave the track alone. If he didn't change the track, then Yugo might've gotten stuff in (or saved himself a bit)
  • Yugo didn't play seriously the first turn, so he got steamrollered.
  • Wonder if Serena figured out that Yugo is one of Yuya's counterparts.
  • Hype for Crystal Wing

I just had an idea.

JMR (thanks for the acronym) has been set up as the man with the plan in the Synchro dimension. The Council is ineffectual, the Tops and Commons are both mostly too concerned with each other, he is the only one really tugging strings.

Problem is, he's not adjusting his plan much.

I personally believe that each strand of his plan will unravel one by one, making him lose his cool Chessmaster persona, and the arrival of Yuri (it's probably gonna happen now that Academia knows both Yuzu and Serena are there) will absolutely break him. Laughing Mad optional.

Yea, Yugo got this in the bag with the help of his DimensionalPal. Can't wait to see JMR's reaction.

I'm interested to see Crystal Wing's effect. Would it be something to stop Moonlights by negating their effects or maybe negate Action cards? Seeing how the field is currently played in the anime, it might have effect damage effect, since we don't have those enough. It looks like Crystal Wing is the Dimensional Dragon evolution counterpart of Beast-Eyes and Rune-Eyes (inb4 "Synchro Dragon" archetype) so it'll probably have 3000/2000 ATK/DEF.

Well depends on its level and effect, which is probably 8, so yeah 3k/2k sounds legit. If the effect remains related to its previous form, negating m.effects / Level 5+ monster hate, result will probably be a body bag with Serena's name on it.

[spoiler=Reaction to the upcoming episodes]

86 - This basically proves that Yugo wins, which it was obvious, since he gets a new monster. I didn't expect Reira to come and help Serena. Reira will probably kick their asses. This should be an interesting episode

87/88 - Nooo. So Yuya is either gonna be mind controlled or Yuto is gonna give him a hard time aka Berserk mode... or both? That mind control might trigger Berserk Mode. Rebellion Dragon is back!

Now that there's time to talk about it, who else is annoyed that, while the first opening that featured OERD was playing (HANATE, or "Unleash"), OERD was not Summoned once?

[spoiler=Reactions]

86: Ha, ha haha CALLED IT! But . . . Reira? Does this mean we might actually see more CCC? Or is he just going to use one of the ones we've already seen?

87: I wonder how mind-control devices interact with supernatural rage. And how far in the Duel we'll get with Tomato before he goes SPES.

88: Sora? How the hell will he interrupt a Turbo Duel, talk to Crow, and get him to realize he's a friend that needs help getting Yuya back to normal? Are we going to see a Blackwing Fusion?

[spoiler=Reaction to the previews]

- So as expected, Banana wins his duel (somewhat screwing up JMR's plans), and finally Reira gets some action in.

- At least Crow apologises for the misunderstanding that Shinji caused, though I wonder what will cause the change in Yuya's body, probably the mind control implants or it could be something else.

- So we finally get to see OERD appear again, though I suppose it was expected given the opening, though it'll be interesting to see how Sora will intervene.

[spoiler=Previews]

Not surprised that it more or less confirms that Yugo wins. Unfortunate for Serena, but it's a logical result since Clear Wing got an upgrade. Likewise, not surprised that she gets attacked by Security, since JMR needs her secured.

I'm not surprised Reira gets his chance to shine, because ever since he met Jack, he's been clearly trying to be braver. I'm more curious how Reira got out of the main council room. I'm expecting that Reiji and Reira eventually decide to break out of there, and just haven't so far because they have nothing to accomplish outside that room, so my hunch for this development is either Tsukikage has something to do with it, or Reira is briefly escorted from the room for some reason. As much as I've been trying not to think about it, surely there's SOMETHING in place for the characters to eat or use the bathroom while in the Council Room (I know fiction glosses over the latter with comedic exceptions). Because they've been in there for over a full day since JMR took over. That's 5 older men/woman (one being MUCH older), plus Reiji and Reira, being guarded by mind-controlled Security members. It just seems pointlessly cruel to not have some access to facilities or such.

Huh. Sounds like maybe JMR did get the mind-control thing to happen. That's...worrying.

Ooh, Odd-Eyes Rebellion returns? Sweet. Though keep in mind, Odd-Eyes Rebellion is no longer explicitly tied to Yuya rage, since he Summoned it successfully against Sora in their rematch when not pissed.

I'm genuinely curious to see how that develops with Sora, Crow, and Yuya.

[spoiler=Preview reactions]

86: Looks like we were right in predicting Yugo would win.

Roger got his plans screwed up, but he still wants Serena.

Also, Reira's finally dueling? Guess he's finally brave enough.

Last time he fought was against the You Show kids.

(We'll finally get to see more of his Deck. Now if only his brother would do something, if he's able to)

87: Crow finally understands what happens, but I'm guessing Yuto's rage finally overtakes Yuya and whatever else.

Don't think Yugo will be fusing himself with Yuya anytime soon.

Oh wait, or Roger actually implants stuff into Yuya's head.

We shall see.

88: Given the circumstances, Yuya summons OERD.

Prepare to get your minds blown, Synchro Dimension.

[spoiler=Reira]

I doubt Reira will summon anything new, as he will be using CCC Rock Armor of Defense as he will be dueling against security who use the EARTH Goyo monsters. So more or less we'll be finding out how he summoned Rock Armor against that blue-haired kid whose name I forgot.

Good point. One will probably bring out Goyo Predator (or Guardian, considering Rock Armor's effect). He'll Summon CC Past Eye and a Spell that lets him Xyz Summon using Past Eye as a Material matching Predator/Guardian's Level and Attribute. That's my hunch.

Because CCC Rock Armor had only 1 Overlay when Summoned. And Montage Fusion used only Past Eye while pretending the Fusion Spell counted as a WATER Material or whatever, so the trend has to be Past Eye gets treated as stuff.

I wasn't going to click the spoilers, but my thirst for Yuri took over. This build up to him and his potential as a villain is overwhelming me. He could be an even better JMR if done right, might probably even kill JMR, or more likely send him back to the Professor for "punishment" or something, that or carded.

[spoiler=Episode spoilers/previews]Well I suspected the invasion's probably about to start. But they only thing I was wrong about was the match up. I assumed Yuya would fight Sergey, cause it seemed most appropriate with the whole Yuzu thing and Yuya being a possible replacement for Sergey. But looks like it'll be Yugo vs. Sergey which may not happen like it's suppose to. But that's assuming the invasion cancels the Friendship Cup, if not, it'll be Yugo vs. Yuya like the last OP foreshadowed. Everyone relevant who lost might be used by Reiji and the Council to fend them off while the tournaments goes on, similar to the invasion on Standard.

Assumptions aside, here's to the hopes of another proper Reira duel.

Y'know, with the SHVI reveal of Crystal Wing, it's made me realize what the theme of the Synchro Dimension is. In 5Ds, it was all about spamming main deck monsters to get out powerful Synchros, but the Synchro Dimension seems more interested in laddering Synchros, rather than just trying to make a powerful Synchro from the get-go. Crystal Wing and Goyo King both need a synchro non-tuner to be summoned, and Crow and Shinji both spammed lower level synchros and spammable tuners in order to make some super high level synchro monsters. Even Jack did it with Red Resonator and Red Wyvern to make Scarlight. I just found it interesting how the Synchro Dimension focuses on laddering, rather than using their main deck to make high level monsters.

Probably meant to mirror the society.

Laddering is clawing your way from the bottom to the top. You go from weak single cards to strong combined ones.

It's the commons finding their way from below to the tops, really.

Goyo King is a bit out of place, but security is special in its own right, so it's still a place to climb to.

Speaking of Crystal Wing, I just realized that my Dragon deck has like eight different ways to make it. Man, 2016 will leave my wallet empty: BOSH, SHVI, all those movies, Pokémon Go (probably) . . . I don't think my wallet will be able to keep up.

Also, the wait for Yugo v. Serena finale is murdering my mind.

I don't blame you Draconus, 2016 is probs gonna be bad for my wallet as well between new 3DS, Wii U games, BOSH, SHVI among other things.

In all seriousness though, laddering being the theme of Synchro is a pretty good shout. For example if you were sent underground, you can work yourself back up into society by beating those higher up than you.
