Interesting...what exactly is Phantom Dragon, though? Is it the manga version of Odd-Eyes Pendulum, or is it an upgrade? Or...is it not clear yet?

According to the wiki trivia, its a manga counterpart to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.

If it's true, I wonder how this work out. Will this Yuya become some sorta Yuri-like character and not care about Egao? That picture with Yuya and his hoodie looks menacing. But it's probably just some sorta Berserk counterpart.

[spoiler=69 sub]

I have to admit nothing much changed from the RAW, other than the fact that Melissa was kinda biased because Yuzu is also a female.

(Last time I checked, sport announcers are supposed to be impartial.)

But yeah, Yuzu won, so there's that. [First Standard duelist who didn't lose]

To be fair though, if she didn't have Score in her hand (or gotten that 2nd Overpass), she would've lost.

Also, the sidenote of copying Futoshi and her dad's catchphrases (also Yuya's, but we know that by now).

Needless to say the audience rather enjoyed that fight, and no cries of rebellion were stirred, as was the case last time.

(It was apparently enough to make Yuya stop being depressed)

Then, there's Roger being all serious when he sees Yuzu Fusion Summon Bloom Diva.

(I think we would've all liked it if she used another Fusion besides Diva, but Yuzu only has Schuberta otherwise)

---

Oh yeah, and Sawatari getting upset for not playing this episode.

Meh, Yugo will probably kick his ass.

When is Sawatari not annoying to listen to/watch?

If he loses, then he'll probably make a scene about it like he does with nearly every other situation.

Granted, we still don't know what Underworld Troupe is capable of doing, but given the context of the Deck thus far, it isn't really good (as shown with his loss record).

----

The odds are really against him right now to be honest, though we have to wait a month or so before it happens.

I think Serena will win her fight next week, although still early as we've no clue on what Tony uses as a Deck.

For Yuya's match with DC227, likely win (because main protagonist privileges, but given the synopsis of the episode afterwards, he'll probably go back to being dejected for not showing his entertainment off properly). Well, he also has to contend with his earlier beating against Jack, so audience likely doesn't expect much of him after that.

Speaking of Dumbass, everyone has noticed all his character development was flushed down the toilet in the third season. (I think Synchro is he third season) Do the two seasons have two different writing teams? I can't see one person making someone do reverse development... And it could explain why it happened.

Also, where the heck is Captain Falcon? He just kinda... Disappeared.

I agree with Pchi. While Sawatari's defeat is certain he actually will have a duel which can show off how his deck works, and will probably help get Yuya back to his normal entertainment dueling after his duel with DC227. Hopefully they won't rush the match, but if Sawatari doesn't have anything to counter Clear-Wing he is in for a tough duel considering Yuugo can easily increase its ATK without the opponent doing anything. Though if he loses again without actually doing anything then I've lost all faith in him actually being important.

Considering that Yugo is the Synchro equivalent of Yuya, I think he and Sawatari could have an interesting dynamic in their Duel. Yugo also grew up poor and Sawatari grew up in the opposite extreme. Remember, Sawatari originally cared only about rarity in his cards before losing to Yuya and Yuto.

Shun is probably in a room same as everyone else, he just doesn't care enough to react to certain things in the Duels the way characters like Yuya, Dennis, Sawatari, etc would.

And as the pool of first round players gets smaller, it seems increasingly likely that Dennis vs Shun will happen.

Dennis and Shun are technically due for a rematch, since Roger interrupted their last match in episode 58-59 if I remember correctly.

Let me make a list of matches thus far (for reference)

1-1: Crow vs Gongenzaka - Crow won

1-2: Shinji vs Tsukikage - Shinji won

1-3: Tokumatsu vs Yuzu - Yuzu won

1-4: Serena vs Tony

1-5: Yuya vs DC227

1-6: Yugo vs Sawatari

Remaining competitors:

- Dennis

- Shun

- Damon (Crow's friend in prison)

- That really tall guy in this picture (between Yugo and Tony)

So yeah, Dennis/Shun have a 1/3 chance of getting that rematch.

Other two guys are unknown, especially last one.

Yeah, Synchro is Season 3 as far as the openings go.

Season 1 was pre-Maiami championship.

Season 2 was Maiami championship/Invasion of Fusion

Season 3 is Synchro.

But in all seriousness, Sawatari went downhill after he lost his Yosenjus.

That was the Deck which made him a legitimate threat, although he did lose to Yuya (again, blame it on luck draw)

I have a feeling that Dennis and Shun won't duel each other now, but instead both win their matches and then duel each other. It makes the contestant pool smaller (as well as skipping a duel), then allows for the story to progress faster.

Then again, I also have a hunch that the big guy will also play some part in the story. Maybe Shun could lose to him? We've only seen him lose once before, at it would be interesting to see what he would to in the underground labor place.

We'll have to see how the writers plan that out after Yugo and Sawatari have at each other.

But yeah, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to say that Dennis/Shun get their fights in the second round; not preliminaries.

Think we all want to see their rematch, but how it'll be done is still up in the air for a while.

----------

Of course, Serena dueling means more Moonlight cards; whether or not they get released as actual cards, we don't know.

Hopefully they are.

I'd say that if Serena's Moonlight cards are to be released, it'd be in a Booster SP revolving around Fusion or something.

Also I do think Shun/Dennis will probs happen in the first round because since the Friendship Cup participants were known, I had been thinking there'd be 1 Lancer vs Lancer match in the first round.

EDIT: got around to watching le subs

[spoiler=Thoughts on 69 Subbed]

- Yuzu initially wasn't sure why Tokomatsu was apologising during their duel, though to be fair, the latter knows what happens to the loser and would feel bad sending Yuzu to do forced labour.

- Sawatari really is getting impatient is funk tbh.

- I enjoyed Yuzu fanning Tokomatsu because he was implying that she and Yuya were in love, lel.

- Also Melissa was being biased towards Yuzu for being a female. Uh, I thought sports announcers were meant to be impartial...

Also, can anyone view the content of the links in mshends' post? I can't for some reason.

Raw Chapter One

[spoiler=Chapter one's spoiler] The world is heading toward destruction, apparently.

-Shuzou's Duel School is in debt. Yuzu is planning to recruit Yuya (and pay him minimum wage), who is codenamed "Phantom" in the manga, as an instructor in order to get people to enroll.

-The kid Yuya/Yuto met missed out on Leo Corporation's Duel Tournament, and didn't get to see Real Solid Vision monsters in action. Hence, Yuya tries to entertain the kid by summoning Phantom Dragon, which Yuto wasn't too happy about.

-And yes, Yuya still wants to make people happy.

-Yuya has apparently hacked Leo Corporation's Solid Vision system. Hence, they are pursuing him.

-Sora wondered why Reiji would have to send FREAKING HELICOPTERS after a simple hacker

[spoiler=Chapter 1/Scale 1]-It's kinda funny that, in anime, people mistake Yuya and his counterparts for each other, while in manga, they don't. (The last pages show Shingo and Reiji were surprised seeing Yuto's face instead of Yuya's.)
-It's sad to see Shun working with LDS and not with Yuto. I like their friendship in the anime. ;c
-I bet Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon is a DARK Pendulum Dragon with 2500/2000 ATK/DEF and Scale 4 (Different scale would be nice too). I'm interested to see its Pendulum and Monster effect. It's always nice to see more Odd-Eyes Pendulums.
-Since Yuya and Yuto share the same body, I wonder if Yugo and Yuri also have the same body.

[spoiler=Response to above comment]

It's not like the writers haven't given the protagonist a counterpart to their anime ace before. (For example the Duel Dragons in the 5Ds Manga)

[spoiler=Response]

I understand that 5ds had a different monster but from what I've heard is that the writer of the Zexal manga is the same one doing the Arc V manga. I just thought that the writer would have done the Zexal thing and just used the anime signature. Overall I'm ecstatic because this means we'll eventually get Phantom Dragon (and I hope he's freakin awesome BTW) but I just didn't see what was wrong with Pendulum Dragon in the first place. This does however mean we'll more than likely get new manga aces that will be equally as awesome I bet.

Well I already said (or called it) that Phantom Dragon would most likely be the promo for Vol 1 of the Arc-V manga. And that it isn't common for a character to have a different ace in the manga than the anime, but the thing with Zexal is that the ace was a Number and they couldn't give Yuma a different ace to Utopia could they?

I guess your right. But technically they could have given him another Utopia since somehow 39 repeats itself 3 times (Utopia, Roots, Beyond). But anyways I feel like I'm derailing here so I'll just move along. A new Odd-Eyes to me is always welcome. I wonder what kind of effect it'll have. If its like its anime counterpart it will have some sort of aggressive effect.
