[spoiler=Speculation]I think Reira might've wanted Tsukikage to lose not only because Shinji was nice to him, but also because he fears the former might take his place next to Reiji. At least, that's what the episode seems to suggest, what with all that emphasis on the boy's fear of his Nii-sama being driven apart from him.

[spoiler=thoughts]

You know the best part about Reira wanting Shinji to win, despite it kind of being a "what the hell?" moment, since he's essentially rooting against the Lancers, regardless of Reiji's intentions with the dimensions?

It's still more personality and will than he'd ever shown previously. Which makes me totally fine with that.

Also, last episode when Reira's backstory was touched upon, it makes more sense why Reira reacted certain ways whenever Shun reacted to something, or when Reiji noted that Shun must have honed his skills in actual combat.

[spoiler Lancers]Am I the only one annoyed that the Lancers have yet to win a match? I mean, they do need to win to get the council's approval, right?

I guess this also means we won't be seeing any more of Reira's cards anytime soon...

[spoiler=Well....]

The Lancers are there to look for strong allies, and I doubt the Lancers beating up everyone else would warrant anyone else to be strong enough to be an ally, especially since the Lancers are the main characters of the series and you expect them to keep growing after this arch. If the "strong allies" are beaten right now too easily, then they'd be outclassed even more in the future.

They chose some of the most expendable lancers for losing.

Gong vs Crow: If Crow didn't win this much, his appearance in Arc V would have probably been pointless.

Shinji vs Tsukikage: Same as the above, and Tsukikage is just hired by Reiji so we'd expect him to take hits on order.

Yuzu vs that guy from prison: Pretty sure Yuzu will win this one. Though she's not a lancer so I guess this doesn't count yet.

Yuugo vs Sawatari: Definitely Yuugo, same as with Yuzu.

Yuuya vs Duel Chaser: Yuuya seems like he'll be the first winning lancer.

I have a hunch that Shun could be getting a rematch with Dennis. In that regard it'd be a lancer definitely winning but wouldn't count too much because they are just showing up their strength among themselves. Still, if it happens like this I'm looking forward to this one.

Who else is left? Hmmm Serena and those Tony and Damon guys... Hmm looking up Wikia, wait what? Divine is here too?

Well, regardless of by who exactly, I'll bet Tony and Damon are filling up the 16 mark and will go down this round.

[spoiler=more Lancers stuff]

I agree with Sleepy, if the Lancers won all the time it would meant the're hyperStrong duelist that don't really need the support they are asking for, so i think the're keeping it real.

Then again, each one of them had a real chance on winning - Yuya misplayed, Gong could have used the chance and smack Crow while he was distracted (but he's not that kind a guy) and Tsukikage could have retaliated a prolonged the duel with that Action Card,.

The duel was not a fun, i get Shinji, but i noted at some point he kinda offended Tsukikage. He's supposed to be a tough ninja, but i think he's still in his teens, also lost his brother not so long ago, and he got character and i like that.

(the writers made him ambidextrous, which is annoying, i was really looking forward to the first cool non-villain left handed duelist.)

[spoiler=Prediction]The last two matches of the first round will probably be Shun vs Dennis and Damon vs JMR's agent, meaning Damon will be the sacrificial lamb meant to showcase the new foe's power.

Also, I can bet both Tony and Damon's themes will follow Crow and Shinji's pattern of bearing a name written as B F in Japanese and focusing on a specific type of animalistic monster - Reptiles for Damon, obviously, maybe Beasts or Fish for Tony? What are your guesses, folks?

Yeah, at least Rio did something useful in the anime; even if she ended up becoming a Barian for a while.

All Kotori did throughout the majority of ZEXAL was say Yuma's name over and over.

I agree, at least Rio contributed to the plot; when it was revealed that she was a barian.

I remember last week it was joked that one of Crow's other friends should have an archetype based around Monkees (given we had seen Birds and bees). Can't remember where though.

Also, just got around to watching the episode

[spoiler=Thoughts on 68 RAW]

- As cool as Tsukikage was, leaping from his D-Wheel to collect Action cards n' junk, his tactics and stuff weren't impressive in the slightest. I mean I do commend Shinji for speeding up on his D-Wheel turn 1 to prevent Tsukikage from grabbing a 4th action card to use as fodder.

- I remember from the previews that Shinji's deck reflect his ideals, and it certainly didn't disappoint, I mean 1 bee can't do much on its own, but if you have a swarm, then you can make some difference, much like Shinji inspiring the commons to fight against the class system.

- I do feel sorry for Tsukikage though. Everyone in the crowds were cheering for Shinji, even Reira wanted him to win because Shinji was nice to him, but what Shinji done for Reira isn't as great as what Tsukikage done for him; ie protecting him when Security came.

Will wait on subs for additional judgment.

[spoiler=Additional things]

- I will say this though, I wouldn't mind seeing another Shun/Dennis duel given they didn't get to finish their previous one due to security, also it'd give JMR's agent someone not very relevant to beat n' stuff.

- I also agree with Sleepy, I don't mind seeing some of the Lancers lose as they are in the Synchro Dimension to recruit strong allies and if they won all the time, it'd deviate from the point of going there in the first place.

[spoiler=on stuff]
They're really holding back on Tsukikage's stuff, huh? I mean from all the Lancers atm, he's the one with the most haphazard deck from what we've seen. While he won't ever be a marketing draw unlike other characters, having the most haphazard deck compared to even Shin Neo New Sawatari (which is a certified buffoon) even if he's portrayed as one of most competent (due to mad ninja skills) made me really suspecting that they have something big for him later when he actually duels to win, if we ever get to that point.

Also his intentional loss is totally also because Reiji's plotting something underground, not just because of Reira. Otherwise, kinda decent episode and I like Shinji's deck, but I'll wait for subs to actually make more judgment.

[spoiler Lancers 2]I think I should clarify. I'm simply surprised at the Lancers' current streak. I just think it would have been a better testament if their losses were more spread out. It would still show that they are still improving, but at the same time, prove to the council that they aren't pushovers.

[spoiler=Script 68]

Last time’s Egao Count: 67

Yuya: If someone loses in the Friendship Cup, they will be sent to do forced labor in an underground facility.
Never to be seen again.
When Tokumatsu-san caught wind of that rumor, Shinji and Reira were chosen to fight in the next match.

Reiji: Why are you refusing to participate in this match?

Yuya: Isn’t it obvious that he’s scared!?

Reira: C-Crow’s friend…

Yuya: Eh?

Reira: He gave me some sweets…

Yuya: Back then…!

Reiji: So you don’t want to fight against someone who was kind to you?

Reiji: Tsukikage.

Tsukikage: Yes, sir.

Reiji: Go out there and fight in Reira’s stead.

Tsukikage: Understood.

Melissa: All right! Here comes…Eh? Tsukikage?
Why did they change the match-up?
Because I totally didn’t see this coming…

Melissa: Ehh…This is…Um…
If I have to guess…
It seems like the match-up has been changed because of certain circumstances…

Shinji: These Tops never change!
They just do whatever the hell they want!
They only think about themselves!
They trample upon us Commons as if we’re insects!

Tops 1: Hah! What a vulgar man…

Tops 2: This is why I don’t like Commons…

Shinji: However, you Commons are not blameless, either!
You let the Tops do whatever they want!
You’ve cast away your pride a long time ago!
You allow the Tops to dominate you!

Commons 1: Shut up!

Commons 2: Go to hell!

Melissa: Hey! Don’t be rude!
Stop trying to agitate the audience!

Shinji: I escaped from a Detention Facility.
But they managed to recapture me, and then dragged me to this place….
So that I can serve as entertainment for them!
But there’s no way in hell I’ll just do what they want me to do!
I’m not going to become a show for them!
I will bring changes to this society!

Melissa: Ahh—Come on, what are you talking about!?
Why do you have to agitate the audience when they were reconciled just a few moments ago!?
You are a Duelist, so act like one, and fight your battle fair and square!

Yuya: Shinji…what are you trying to accomplish?

Reiji: Pardon my tardiness.

Reira: Ah…

(Opening Sequence)

Melissa: The City is one! We are all friends!
Let’s put away all the hard feelings, and get fired up for this match!

Reiji: I’m sorry for changing the match-up at the last second.
Please accept my apology.

Grey: It’s not that big of a deal.

Reiji: Tsukikage is a combative Duelist well-versed in Ninjutsu Dueling.
I can attest to his skills.
So, please take a good look at this match.

Reira: Brother…Why…
Does he value Tsukikage more than me…?

Melissa: All right, here we go!
Action Field, on! Field Magic! Cross-Over Accel!
Riding Duel…Acceleration!

DUEL!

Yuya: Even if he is protecting Reira…
He still made Tsukikage fight, knowing full well what will happen to the loser…

Reira: My brother values him more than me…

Jean-Michel: I dare say, Tsukikage…
As well as that Common youth are not going to make it to the next round.

Melissa: Both competitors are going full-throttle, trying to seize the first corner!
Tsukikage has taken the first corner!

Tsukikage: It’s my turn! I summon Twilight Ninja – Shingetsu from my hand!
Then, I activate the Continuous Magic, Illusion Ninjitsu - Hazy Shuriken!
When I add a card to my hand, I can send it to the graveyard, and inflict 300 damage to my opponent!
Hazy Shuriken!

Shinji: He’s dishing out damage on the first turn!?

Tops 1: That Ninja sure is fantastic.

Tops 2: This is going to be interesting.

Tops 3: Bravo!

Tsukikage: One more time! Hazy Shuriken!

Tsukikage: Another one! Take this!

Melissa: Tsukikage has dealt consecutive damage from the very first turn!

Tsukikage: There’s more!

Shinji: Let’s put an end to the Ninja Show, shall we?

Melissa: Shinji has blocked Tsukikage, preventing him from getting an Action Card!

Tsukikage: I set one card face-down, and end my turn!

Melissa: Shinji is in a pinch right now.
How will he get out of it in this turn!?

Shinji: I’m used to being put at a disadvantage.
This is nothing.

Shinji: It’s my turn! I summon Bee Force - Arbalest the Quickshot!
Battle!

Shinji: He’s using Hazy Shuriken again?

Shinji: But still, you’re going to lose your monster anyway!

Shinji: Arbalest! Attack Shingetsu!

Tsukikage: Continuous Trap, Illusion Ninjitsu - Hazy Toad!
When my opponent is conducting a battle, I can send one card to the graveyard,
And increase the ATK of a Ninja on my field by 1000 until the end of the battle!

Melissa: Oh my! Shinji has taken 700 damage!

Shinji: However, when Arbalest is destroyed, I can Special Summon another Arbalest from my hand!

Tsukikage: I see. If you take out one, its ally will rush in to take its place, huh?

Shinji: This is how a true Common would fight!

Commons 1: A true Common?

Commons 2: A true Common?

Commons 3: That’s because we can only survive by relying on each other.

Tsukikage: When the battle ends, Hazy Toad’s effect also ends, and Shingetsu’s ATK returns to normal.

Shinji: I’ll end my turn here.

Tsukikage: The strength of the Fuuma clan’s bonds won’t diminish, even if we are apart!
It’s my turn! Draw!

Reira: If Tsukikage wins…

Tsukikage: Magic Card, Ninjitsu Art of Hazy Duplication!
I can Special Summon a Level-4 or below Ninja from my hand!

Reira: If Tsukikage wins, I will be…

Reira: Don’t leave me! Don’t leave me, Brother!

Tsukikage: I Special Summon Twilight Ninja – Shingetsu!

Shinji: You’re not going to accomplish a damn thing if you keep summoning monsters with mediocre ATKs!

Tsukikage: Are you sure about that?
I release Twilight Ninja – Shingetsu,
And Advance Summon Twilight Stealth Commander – Nichirin!
If I lack strength, a more powerful comrade will come to aid me at the speed of the wind!
This is the bond of the Fuuma clan!
Battle! I attack Arbalest with Nichirin!

Melissa: Tsukikage continues to relentlessly attack and dish out damage!
Shinji is in a pinch!
At this rate, he’s not going to make it!

Shinji: I also have comrades as well!
When Arbalest is destroyed, I can Special Summon another Arbalest from my hand!

Tsukikage: I end my turn.

Shinji: Even if they fall all the way to hell,
My Bee Force will always rise again!
Because they are strong, just like the Common kids!

Shinji: Don’t you know? When bees build their nests in a low place, a typhoon will arrive!

Tsukikage: I would never make light of the bonds and strength of the Commons.

Shinji: I would’ve appreciated that…
However, whatever you’re saying in nothing more than empty words!
I’ll let you learn it the hard way…
How a true Common fight!
It’s my turn!
I won’t let you do as you please anymore!
I’m going to sting you until you’re covered in swellings!
I summon the tuner monster, Bee Force - Needle the Stinger!
I’m tuning the Level-4 Arbalest the Quickshot with the Level-2 Needle the Stinger!
Make a storm with your wings!
Cut open the path to truth with your poleaxe!
Synchro Summon!
Come! Bee Force - Voulge the Attack!

Melissa: Shinji has successfully Synchro Summoned!

Shinji: Battle! I attack Shingetsu with Voulge the Attack!

Tsukikage: I won’t allow that!
Illusion Ninjitsu - Hazy Toad!
By sending one card to the graveyard, I can increase the ATK of a Ninja by 1000!

Shinji: But Voulge’s has an effect!
When it battles a monster with higher ATK, that monster’s ATK is halved!

Tsukikage: What!?

Melissa: Shinji has finally been able to counterattack!

Shinji: Your half-ass power-up just made the damage you received even bigger!
I set one card face-down and end my turn!

Shinji: The same thing will happen to those rich Tops pretty soon!
If they keep indulging in their extravagancy, when they receive damage, the shock would be pretty great.

Tops 1: that fellow’s friends must be very ashamed of him…

Tops 2: Indeed.

Melissa: Using threating language against your spectator is NG! (No Good!)
You’re going to kill the spirit of the Friendship Cup, you know?

Tsukikage: Isn’t it unbecoming for a Duelist to berate his spectators, who have nothing to do with our match?

Shinji: Hah? Are you siding with the Tops?
A ninja would serve his master and carry out stealth operations, right?

Tsukikage: What are you getting at?

Shinji: You’re just like the good-for-nothing bunch that is the Public Security Maintenance Bureau, who only cares about keeping the Tops happy!

Tsukikage: How dare you…!
You dare mock the Fuuma clan!?

Reira: Lose.

Tsukikage: My brother, Hikage, gave up his life to accomplish his mission!

Reira: Lose!

Tsukikage: On the honor of my proud brother, I will make you pay!

Reira: Just lose already!

(Bee Commercial. Brb)

Tsukikage: It’s my turn!
Twilight Stealth Commander – Nichirin can be treated as a Ninja monster when it is on the field!
By releasing Nichirin, I can Advance Summon!
You shall realize the true power of the venerable Fuuma clan!
Twilight Ninja Shogun – Getsuga!
I can Advance Summon the Level-8 Getsuga by releasing one Ninja monster!

Shinji: He brought his boss monster out, huh?

Tsukikage: By switching Twilight Ninja Shogun – Getsuga to defense position, I can Special Summon two Ninja monsters from my graveyard!
Return to your general!
Twilight Ninja – Shingetsu!

Tsukikage: When Shingetsu is on the field, my opponent cannot attack any Ninja monsters besides it!

Melissa: So if he has two copies of Shingetsu…
Then…Shinji cannot attack Getsuga at all!

Shinji: What!?

Melissa: However, even if he manages to clear the Shingetsu monsters away, he will still have to face a monster with a whopping 3000 DEF!
Tsukikage sure is a tough opponent!
No. His line of defense is simply too formidable!
How will Shinji overcome this? What will Shinji do?
Oh! Tsukikage has gotten another Action Card!

Tsukikage: Continuous Magic, Illusion Ninjitsu - Hazy Shuriken!
When I add a card to my hand, I can send it to the graveyard to inflict 300 damage to my opponent!

Shinji: Are you just going to spam that move?

Shinji: Damn it. Nothing ever goes my way ever since I was a kid.

Man in black: You heard me? This place is no longer your home!
Don’t loiter around or come near it!

Shinji: That’s right.
The institution that took care of us was seized because of heavy debts.
And we lost the one place where we can live.

Tsukikage: Even so, that is no reason for you to ridicule the Fuuma clan!
Hazy Shuriken!

Shinji: Just like that…

Tsukikage: Hazy Shuriken!

Shinji: They treated my cards like trash…
And threw them away right after taking them from me!

a****** of the week: How can you Duel with garbage like this?
Go buy some better cards.
Oh, I forgot, you’re just a penniless Common.
Hahahaha!

Shinji: The Tops always use their unfair advantage to crush us Commons, and seize everything we own!
They robbed everything from us!!

Yuya: I have no idea Shinji has always harbored that kind of resentment in his heart…

Commons 1: Shinji! I’m with you, bro!

Commons 2: The Tops stole everything from us!

Commons 3: Don’t lose, Shinji!
Go! Kick his ass!

Shinji: This Duel is a miniature model of our society!
Even though it’s supposed to be a free competition society,
The winners always try to keep the losers down!
That is this City’s…
That is this City’s reality!
Now then, stand up! Stand up for yourself!
Right now, I can see a fire glowing in your eyes!
Fight with me!
Raise up your fists!

Shinji: For us Commons, the City is one!

Commons: The City is one…
The City is one! The City is one!
The City is one! The City is one!
The City is one! The City is one!
The City is one! The City is one!
The City is one! The City is one!

Tsukikage: Hazy Shuriken!

Shinji: Not gonna happen! Action Magic, Stand Up!
During my opponent’s turn, it negates any effect damage, and ends the turn!

Shinji: We’re pretty resilient, you know.

Tsukikage: We?

Shinji: Yeah.
I’m not going to be alone in the next turn.
All Commons shall stand against you!
Let’s go! It’s our turn!

Shinji: Draw!

Commons: Draw!

Shinji: The typhoon has finally arrived!
And a pretty big one, too!

Shinji: Magic Card, All-Out Rebellion, activate!
It Special Summons as many Level-4 or below Bee Force monsters from my graveyard as the number of my opponent’s monsters!
There are three monsters on your field!
I Special Summon the two Arbalests and the tuner monster, Needle the Stinger from my graveyard!

Shinji: That’s still not enough! Bring out your rage!
Bring out your rage, as intense as the wrath of the bees whose nests were disturbed!

Commons: Shinji! Shinji! Shinji! Shinji!

Some dude: This is too dangerous!
Please send in more Security!

Jean-Michel: I see.
It could escalate into a huge riot…
That would certainly be troublesome.

Yuya: Just what is this? This kind of Duel…

Shinji: I activate Needle the Stinger’s effect!
By releasing a Bee Force monster, I can negate the effect of an opposing monster!
I release Arbalest the Quickshot to negate one of the Shingetsus’ effect!
Battle!
Using the other Arbalest, I’ll attack the first Shingetsu!
Then, I attack the second Shingetsu with Voulge!

Tsukikage: However, Ninja Shogun Getsuga’s DEF is 3000!

Shinji: Don’t underestimate me!
Trap Card, Urgent Tuning!
I can perform a Synchro Summon during a battle with this card’s effect!

Tsukikage: What?

Shinji: I’m tuning the Level-6 Voulge the Attack and the Level-4 Arbalest the Quickshot with the Level-2 Needle the Stinger!
Tear down the wall of the haughty villain with the power of our gathered bonds!
Synchro Summon!
Appear!
Level-12! Bee Force - Big Ballista the Decisive Battle!
I activate Big Ballista’s effect!
By banishing all Bee Force monsters in my graveyard,
I can reduce the ATK and DEF of an opposing monster by 500 point for each banished Bee Force monster!
I banished five monsters!
Therefore, Twilight Ninja Shogun – Getsuga’s DEF will be reduced by 2500 points!

Reira: With this, Tsukikage will…

Shinji: Battle! Big Ballista, attack Twilight Ninja Shogun – Getsuga!
When Big Ballista attacks a defense position monster, it can inflict piercing damage when its ATK is higher than the monster’s DEF!

Tsukikage: How could I…!

Melissa: The winner of today’s second match is Shinji Weber!

Shinji: Don’t just stand around and cheer! Stand up for yourself!
What are you doing, you morons?
Are you just going to scream?
Do something!
Fight with me! Fight for your rights!

Crow: Shinji has already made his move…
Then, I’d better…
But I’ll make my kids worry about me again…

Commons: Shinji! Shinji! Shinji!

Melissa: At any rate, it was still a terrifying Duel!
It was as if everyone was rioting…

Jean-Michel: They sure are fired up, aren’t they?
If they are really going to riot,
Then we’ll just need to arrest all of them.

Grey: Your second Lancer has lost as well.

Reiji: Yes. Meaning Tsukikage will be sent underground to do forced labor.

Council: Hmm?

Reiji: It’s all part of the plan.

Reira: Heh?

(Preview for Episode 69)

Melissa: Enjoy Chojiro will be facing off against the first female Duelist of this tournament: Hiiragi Yuzu!

Tokumatsu: Why do I have to fight against such a lovely lady…
I’M SORRY!

Yuzu: Yuya is probably very depressed right now.
But I’ll let him know that he’s not alone!
I’ll go all out in this match!

Yuya: Next time on Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V:
The Sprinting Divas.

Yuzu: The fun has just begun!

That may sound a little dumb - and it probably is dumb - but I can't help but notice some similarities between Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V and Neon Genesis Evangelion, maybe because both are deconstructions of their respective genres, maybe just because I'm a fan of both franchises XD

Like:

In both series, the main character is a 14-year old boy with serious psychological issues stemming from parental abandonment he initially tries to hide behind a façade of irreverence, in Yuuya's case, or uptightness, in Shinji's case. Both discover they have a greater destiny than they could ever imagine, but instead of enjoying what would normally be every average kid's biggest dream come true, they suffer immensely from the harshness of the cold reality they are forced to face - including a few backstabbing friends... Also, Berserk Mode.

Reiji is basically what Shinji'd have become if he followed his father's steps, bearing enormous animosity against his villainous old man while ironically behaving similarly to him. The way he adjusts his glasses and the sinister glow they emanate whenever the boy is being particularly creepy are also taken from Gendou, as is the structure and design of his base of operations - the elevating platform being the most evident detail. Not to mention both have an older man as their right-hand (Nakajima and Fuuyutsuki, respectively). Also, Reiji has been caught doing the Gendo Pose from time to time.

And then there's REIra, who's an extremely emotionally repressed kid with an unnerving stare and light-colored hair who seems to lack a personality of his own and thus remains alive by essentially becoming a clone of other people and obeying their orders without questioning, but gradually develops their own persona. The fact he's strongly attached to the Gendo analogue of this series and remains distant from the rest of the world until meeting the aforementioned protagonist like a certain blue-haired anime girl only furthers the comparison.

Last, but not least, Leo Akaba's goal of fusing the all four dimensions bears some resemblance to Seele's Human Instrumentality Project.

You could argue there are some parallels between Yuzu and Asuka as well, like both sporting pigtails as part of their hairstyles - not mention their hair colors being both variations of red - and occasional violent tendencies, as well as the absence of a mother figure in their lives, but aside from that their characters couldn't be more different.

Now I can't wait until we all find out Yuushou's soul was inside Yuuya's pendulum the whole time XD

Subs are out, for those of you who haven't watched yet.

[spoiler=Sub thoughts]

So yeah, Shinji calls out the audience for not trying (Commons) and for making society more screwed up (Tops), but hey he got a lot of people to root for him afterwards.

Tops didn't like it so much, but consider that as Shinji venting out all that rage from his youth.

Then again, they enjoyed it when Tsukikage threw shuriken at Shinji on turn 1.

Watch Common get beaten up by guy from another dimension, go figure...

Roger's making snarky comments again about Shinji and Tsukikage; yeah, he's up to no good again.

See, this is why I don't give a sheet about you, Roger.

What can Reiji be up to that he wanted Tsukikage to lose/be sent to do forced labor?

That, and Reira wanted Tsukikage to lose?

Look at it this way Reira, if he didn't save you, you'd be in the Facility for who knows what (and I'm pretty sure Roger would've been a scumbag towards you, regardless if you're still a child).

-----

Now on to the thing about both Lancers losing.

While yeah, it shows that Crow and Shinji are proficient (the former had better be, since it's an AU of the guy from 5Ds), the matches should've been spaced a bit more.

I personally would've liked to see at least one of them win their match thus far, but Yuzu might do that herself; we'll see.

I think the unfortunate, yet interesting thing about Shinji and Crow is that, aside from the humor of both their archetypes being BF - something, both their ace monsters have 3000 ATK, an effect that raises their monster or decreases the opponent's based on previous investment, and inflict piercing damage.

They're similar, but opposite. Shinji seems to support outright rebellion to improve one's life. Crow seems to be more protective of those who can't fight back (kids).

I had similar thoughts about Shinji, but I sort of see him as an anti-Yusei. Yusei was trying to bring about a change in society, but he'd always shoulder the burden himself if it meant keeping his friends safe. Shinji wants a full-scale dark rebellion by the commons, no matter what the risk to them. Yusei wanted to build the Daedalus bridge to connect the city and satellite. he cared about everyone in neo domino. Shinji seems to only care about the commons. (Not that I can blame him). But my guess is that Crow and Yuya will eventually have to get him back on track before he does something even more extreme.

I also think Shinji is going about it in a reckless way. I get that he needed the tournament so he could be heard by large numbers, but he basically announced his coup in from of the entire world. The thing about coups is they're supposed to be secret until they happen.

[spoiler=Thoughts on 68 Subbed]

- So Shinji spurring on the commons to fight back against the shitty system stems from how we was treated by the tops as a kid, makes sense. Though his ideals are somewhat different to Crow's as he wants to protect those who can't fight back, like the kids.

- I know that Reira believes that Reiji is thinking better of Tsukikage than him, but I think Reiji has some hidden

- Tsukikage losing and having to do forced labour was all part of Reiji's plan? Interesting, I'm intrigued to see what he has in store. Although in light of Reira's refusal to duel Shinji, I'd say that Reiji had to revise his plan, although this in turn caused Reira to think that Reiji thought better of Tsukikage than him and also wanting him to lose which isn't really fair on Tsukikage given he saved Reira from being sent to the facility.

Reira is really annoying me now. His desire to see Tsukikage, the guy who saved him from being sent to basically prison, lose because Shinji gave him chocolate doesn't make any sense. I had assumed that he was supposed to be somewhat intelligent if still young but now he appears to be just a scared child contributing nothing ever. Shinji's speeches were really quite hyping, but I still wanted Tsukikage to win. His jumping off the D-Wheel and back on was unexpected. When Shinji went for the winning attack and Tsukikage picked up the action card, which if I remember the artworks correctly was revealed to be the one that negates attacks, why did he not use it? Did he want to lose? If so was he aware that that had been Reiji's intention for him? Of course it may be a different card but if it was the Miracle one then that leaves questions.

[spoiler=Response]

That was not the reason ¬¬ Reira was afraid that Reiji would abandon him in favor of Tsukikage because he was more useful to him - in Reira's eyes, that is.

And Tsukikage did lose on purpose - even his JP VA confirmed that via Twitter.

[spoiler=Response stuff]

While yes, I agree that Reira wanting Tsukikage to lose, despite him protecting Reira from Security in episode 58-59, shows ungratefulness on his end; Reiji did have it planned out.

Although, that brings up the question: Would Reiji have wanted to send his own brother to do forced labor if he had lost?

He would've certainly heard about it from the Council off-screen, and planned accordingly.

Yes, Reiji saw Tsukikage as more valuable at this point, but he had a plan about that, even if Reira had a change of heart.

I don't think that Reiji would've let Reira experience the labor part, but we don't know if he would've indeed done so.

There isn't as strong a bond between them as was the case for other siblings in the franchise thus far; that, and he is doing some clandestine things off-screen regarding this.

Look at this way, Reira (and I believe I've said this earlier on).

If Tsukikage weren't here, you'd land up in the Facility, having to face the guards + other things in there and definitely you'd be psychologically tortured by having to fight Shinji in the tournament. Not to mention the forced labor thing; I'm pretty sure Roger wouldn't have given a sheet if you're still a little kid + collapse due to the physical work.

-----

I suppose I can't say I blame Reira for wanting Tsukikage to lose, if he perceived his own importance to Reiji paling in comparison to Tsukikage (he only got a mention of said plan at the episode's end). But yes, Reira does owe Tsukikage a bit for saving his life in the Synchro Dimension.

Remind me that this is not the real Yui making comment in here.

[spoiler=Response]

We know that Reira has PTSD, as shown from the last episode.

That also explains why he was depressed for the most part since appearing.

I didn't explicitly say Reira was a little ingrate; sure, he wants his brother to pay attention to him in the dimension, especially after that outburst regarding his matchup with Shinji. But yeah, Reiji probably had something in mind involving Tsukikage (or had to adjust it to him after said outburst), and it's likely that Reira was unaware of any plans (or wouldn't remember them anyway).

Outside of Reira being protected by Tsukikage during their time in Synchro Dimension, that's about all I'm going to say regarding the matter.

Again, Reira might've had a more crucial role in whatever plan Reiji had, but that got changed because of what happened in that episode (after Yuya made a long speech about it).

Likely because Mugen didn't revert your name back after the thing ended, so you and UE still look alike (although there's still the alias part).

And yeah, I kinda figured as much.

Episode's up now, and I'll go write my thoughts.

[spoiler=69 thoughts]

Well, Yuzu won this fight, so at least it shows that she doesn't suck.

But yeah, Yuya was technically torn apart after seeing the pairing come up.

Although yeah, Tokumatsu did summon a 5000 ATK Synchro that can essentially cockblock everything the opponent does.

(Probably requires 5 Cardians, because it will be broken as hell if that's generic, even as a 3-mat). More Cardian support cards though, so there's that, I guess.

I would probably say that Yuzu got a lucksack draw out of Score the Melodious Diva, because that allowed Yuzu to even touch Gokou with its effects negated.

However, both of them did get off to a bumpy start (likely because they're not used to D-Wheels), and Yuzu only had experience because she was on the back of Yugo's one.

----

Oh yeah, and Yuzu did the shivers thing; damn it.

But at least Yuya stopped being depressed after that fight, and hopefully found what he's looking for.

(Episode previews aren't kind to him though)

[spoiler=Reply and a few words on 69]

Since when did Yuzu suck? She still has a positive win-loss ratio, and she managed to score an impressive victory against Olga and Halil in one turn after Gongenzaka fell. While it's relief that, up to now, she still hasn't been afflicted by the same curse all previous main female characters suffered over time, simply saying "she doesn't suck" sounds like a big disservice to her, IMO :/ Also, she started the duel with Score already on her hand; that was no luck sack.

That said, I'm a little disappointed that she still can't Synchro Summon yet; even a new Fusion monster would be fine, but no, Bloom Diva AGAIN ¬¬

And thankfully Serena finally gets a new toy to play, according to the preview; and Tony does what no one else in the show ever dared to do: use a freaking staple.

[spoiler=Episode]

I actually enjoyed this episode a fair amount. The Duel was decent, and I got some amusement from both players being uncomfortable with the D-Wheels, although Yuzu was SO cool with how she did tricks and such to grab Action Cards. She is definitely a You-Show student with moves like that.

Why was Dennis fawning over Yuzu so much? It was kind of weird without actually being creepy. Other than we know he was working with the guy who tried to kidnap her...

I kind of liked the (potential) symbolism involved. When the Cardian guy whose name abruptly escapes me used the effect of one of the Cardians to draw 1, but discard it if it wasn't a Cardian, the card he drew and discarded was "No Cheaters Allowed". Considering he got banned from the tournament scene for cheating...

Previews on Wiki say that Yugo will fight Sawatari after Yuya's match. No bets on who'll probably win that. After all, Yugo is the reason Reiji considered the potential of forming an alliance with the Synchro Dimension.
