During the 5Ds era, Spells had a great impact in the game's speed, so Speed Spells were meant to balance this out a bit and excuse the fact the main characters didn't quite play at the same level as IRL. However, that is not really needed anymore. If anything now they made the opposite of what Speed Spells represented, this time in the form of Action Cards. Instead of limiting the ways decks are played, Action Duels let them do everything they normally could do, and Action Cards are just a bonus.

That said, I think that Speed Spells from Speed World Neo might be a thing, but more in line to the state of the game in the present, so I kind of expect them to be bonus cards, but instead of hunting for them like in Action Duels all over the place, I think they'd be more like those things you step on when playing Mario Kart which give you some sort of ability.... probably.
So I think someone already mentioned that is very likely that Ruri's hair is going to be yellow, well here are more hints that Ruri's hair is yellow

Another clue is this

Look closely at the colours

Ooh, I like this theory.

Although Overlay Units take the color of the Xyz's Attribute that they're attached to. They're only yellow if it's a LIGHT Xyz. Then again, Yuto and Shun both used DARK Xyz, so the contrast might work just fine.

Ahh totally forgot bout that, OK instead of overlay unit what about with Overlay Network then, it is mostly yellow after all (and do have some black at the centre)

I would expect a class on Surrender Theory would less be "how do you do it" and probably more hypothetical discussion on when it is considered appropriate to do so. Almost like an oddly specific ethics class.

How late in the Duel is surrendering a valid action? When should you surrender as opposed to allowing your opponent to score the winning damage? In a tournament or other public Duel (considering how Dueling is like a professional sport), should you ever surrender? What are the consequences for surrendering at certain times, and how might it affect your reputation as a Duelist?

Because if a top-ranked Duelist surrenders, are they ragequitting, or are they being a graceful loser? Is surrendering anti-climactic, or is it an acceptable conclusion to a game you can't win?

Things like that.

I expect surrender to be an acceptable course when you topdeck something useless, or your opponent counters your play in a way that makes defeat absolute. Otherwise, you just end your turn and make your opponent finish you off, something that is nothing more than consuming time.

In other words, any scenario when a character can't do anything to change the outcome, and it's very obvious that this is the case, but it's your turn.

Yeah, I'd probably see the Surrender Theory as more of an ethics class.

The concept itself is easy to do; WHEN it's appropriate is another story.

I could bring up some people on DN and say that this class would be good for them (assuming that's what ST is supposed to be); but that's not really relevant.

Mostly on the ragequitting thing when they fight meta Deck and/or stuff they can't win against with their own.

Basically, surrendering's fine if you know there's absolutely no way you can win (LP near depletion, field is bare, opponent has field setup and will be nearly impossible to defeat, even with luck)

I'd definitely say the 10th turn thing is an appropriate time.

----

Then there's the stuff regarding Destiny Draws, which I would assume is statistics and determining how likely you are to drawing a saving card.

Using the handheld game stuff, it'll happen if you hit 4000 LP or something below opponent; I don't know. (I only had D-Draw in TF4/5, so...)

So basically, how often will you pull that one card that magically changes the game? Although in nearly all of the episodes within the series, the characters seem to always draw the card they need at the last second. (I would say the other term that a lot of TCG people use, but not today)

----

Also if it hasn't already been said (or common knowledge by now), the Jack in this one is an alternate-reality version (and not the same guy we knew in 5Ds, but very likely going to adopt similar mannerisms). Same goes for Crow.

Maybe they'll use their manga decks, but we'll have to see.

what in the world is "Inanimate Solitaire Theory"?

It is the theory that Seto Kaiba developed when describing how easy it would be to beat Joey.

Jk, but I think it is the idea of chain synching. Didn't Shivers-kid describe Yaiba's dueling as this when he dueled Gong?

It scares me how accurate this curriculum is to the RL Metagame's dynamics. Then again, Konami itself is involved with the series' production to some degree, so I shouldn't be surprised with their amount of savviness, even if Kon-chan itself appears to be quite genre blind about their own gamesometimes...

I think "Inanimate Solitaire Theory" refers to decks like Library Exodia and the like. The sort of decks that might as well act as if the opponent isn't there at all. The phrase solitaire is coined when the opponent doesn't feel like they're a part of the game, and are instead just watching the turn player play. Because solitaire is a one person game after all. Library Exodia, Unfairnity Loop, and Ritual Beast Loop are example of solitaire decks, as they take forever to finish their turn, and they mostly win by boring the tits of their opponent until they quit.

Granted, it is a part of the Synchro Curriculum, and could indeed refer to multiple Synchro summons, ah la placing cards one on top of the other like in solitaire.
Episode 56: Security’s Perfect Encirclement!

Yuuya and co. have entered the Synchro Dimension, but the only people around Yuuya are Sawatari, Serena, and Reira. They tried to search for their missing friends, but were immediately discovered by the Security.

Episode 57: Crow Hogan – The Black Whirlwind

The name of the man who rescued Yuuya and co. from their ordeal was Crow Hogan. Yuuya and co. then temporarily hide in Crow’s hideout, and received some eyewitness information about Yuugo and Yuzu from the children who live there. Meanwhile, Dennis and Gongenzaka wander through the City. In order to gain some information about the Lancers, the two of them began Dueling, but…

Episode 58: Invitation to the Dark Duel

A mysterious and shady man named Gallager appeared before Gongenzaka and Dennis. While Gongenzaka was filled with suspicions toward the man, Dennis was enthusiastic as they followed Gallager to an underground duel arena. Much to their surprise, Kurosaki Shun was participating in a Duel there, while the crowd cheered him on! In spite of Gongenzaka's objection, Dennis challenged Kurosaki to a Riding Duel!

Episode 59: Underground Riding Duel!!

Dennis deployed his Pendulum Summon in his Duel against Kurosaki. Detecting that Summon, Roger, the Director of the Public Security Maintenance Bureau, decided to keep an eye on them. On the other hand, Reira was depressed since Reiji is not with him. Yuuya wants to make Reira smile. However, a slight discrepancy of opinions arises between Crow and Yuuya, causing some hostility between them.
- I'm not surprised that everyone ended up being split up on arrival in the Synchro dimension, and I assume Yuya and co ended up in the tops area to grab the attention of security.

- It's nice that we'll be seeing Crow in like 2 weeks. I can't wait till we see Jack in the future.

- Dennis and Shun having a riding duel? Hmmm... interesting.

- It appears that Roger has a summon detection device similar to Reiji's in Standard. That being said, the previews say that Dennis used Pendulums against Shun, so he either still has the Pendulums from the Battle Royale, or Performages are getting their own pendulums.
56: How does that happen? Probably assuming the Dimension Mover malfunctioned for the other guys.

Let's see if Yuya gets a criminal mark for this; assuming he goes in the Tops area for this.

57: We see alternate-reality Crow? Hmm, interesting.

On that note, Gongenzaka will fit well into City, since he can Synchro. As for Dennis, I have no clue.

58: Doing Xyz in a Turbo Duel. I'm tempted to say that's weird (given how much we've seen of the 5Ds one), but is definitely possibly.

Now if only the Turbo Duel mode in YGOPro worked properly.

59: So that Roger guy is basically alternate reality Goodwin; not surprised about this.

And if Yuya makes an enemy out of Crow, things will not go well for him. If they duel, Crow will likely cream him.
Short notes, but not much I can really say.
-Episode feel like early 5d's yusei vs ushio, except its less intense

-The duel is pretty linear, and the trap hyugo used feel so random...."dice" monster? why not make it speed roid monster instead, not like the effect has anything to do with dice anyway....

-unlike 5d's the security doesnt just give up after their guy defeated in a duel

-The lancers landed in synchro dimension, but only 4 of them?

-Security immediately surround them, how can they be detected so quickly, and on common area?

-Lancers vs security next episode, doesnt seem reira will be joining the fight though

-Yuya's entertainment duel is back!

the duel is pretty bland but the plot advancement is still interesting....

cant wait to see yuya's entertainment duel again, now vs security

Now that I look at it, Monster Effect negation studies is under the Xyz Course.

Isn't this some self-aware joke about ZEXAL and how frequently effects got negated? It must be something if a drinking game leaves a note about that...

least healthy drinking game ive ever heard of

I'm going to assume that yes, it totally is a meta joke about Zexal's obsession with effect negation, a trend that pretty much started with Black Ray Lancer and then got ridiculous.
