TFMegamanlan
As anyone who's seen my cards or other things you know that I am very very big into the Crystal Beast Archetype. Honestly it's my favorite archetype, but has fallen out of favor thanks to junk such as Rainbow Dragon or Hamon. Well the current Crystal Beast variant that I run has been going well to compensate and get back the Crystal Beast's good name. But even now it still has a few problems: 1. It has Speed issues. The deck was made to originally match the Speed of your Opponent then get to a point where you can push passed your Opponent. But now with decks that can Draw/Search so much, Crystal Beasts cannot keep up as they do not have an effective Search/Draw Engine for the cards they need. Beacon requires 2 Crystals in play, and Pegasus is the main Searcher. Ruins draw power and Rare Value don't work effectively unless its mid-game and Tree can be inconsistent. 2. Spell Destruction. Another issue is a lot of decks that can figure out what our deck does will try to wipe out our Crystals so then our Deck becomes less viable. Heavy Storm was the worst enemy of a Crystal Beast Deck. Mystical Space Typhoon can still threaten us and players that are smart will usually target the backrow to be wiped out. Crystal Beast players usually have little to no Counter for this and will have to resort to either allowing it to happen or use up Precious Crystal Beasts to negate it with Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins effect 3. 3. Little Graveyard Access - Without Monster Reborn, we have 3 cards that can get Crystal Beasts from the Graveyard: Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus, Crystal Blessing, and Crystal Abundance. Crystal Abundance is never used to just get a Crystal Beast out of the Graveyard though as it is focused on winning that turn. Blessing most players do not like playing and will only use one as it isn't that effective to the Deck and loves to come when we don't need it, and Pegasus. Most players would much rather Deck-thin then rescue from the Graveyard. So in short, usually if a Crystal Beast is in the Graveyard, it will most likely stay there. While yes we will use Pinpoint Guard, it's not that effective as it can get MST'd or be unusable against a lot of monsters. (Ancient Gears, Armities etc). Now to the players who say "Just run Call of the Haunted" there is this issue: a Good player that can see ahead wouldn't just kill a Crystal Beast connected with Call of the Haunted. They would be fine with Banishing, returning that CB to my Hand or anything to ensure that Call of the Haunted is dead on my Field. Because that means either I have to MST it or else it will start getting bad as Crystal Beast players need their backrow. Which is why we don't like playing Continuous Traps. Without it, we don't have that ability to pull off our moves, and more. My goal has been to make supports that at least cover these issues with counters. Even if it means we won't always have them, I believe all decks should have some way to counter their weaknesses at least enough so that it doesn't become something that's easily exploitable. So I have made it my goal to make counters for Crystal Beasts so we at least have some ideas for starting points on what could be some support for the deck. With that all said, now onto my card: First to note: I don't plan on this single card to be the be-all end-all, but this would only be a starting point and an idea for how to give them some support. Now onto the card:
During either player's turn: You may Discard this Card: "Crystal Beast" Spell Cards you currently control cannot be Destroyed by Opponent's Card Effects and you may add 1 "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" from your Deck to your Hand. If you do not control a Face-up Continuous Spell Card: Destroy this card. If this card is Destroyed: "Crystal Beast" Monsters you control cannot be Destroyed in Battle this turn.
Any thoughts, questions, suggestions, etc are appreciated. But also, for those who wish to complain about my OCG Grammar or whine about that Crystal Beasts are dumb, will be shot... The survivors will be struck with my Anti-OCG Missiles. Thanks =)
