I was wanting your thoughts on their potential as a Tier 1 or 2 deck. Double-Fin Shark, XYZ  Remora, Silent Angler, Saber Shark, Wind-Up Shark, Hammer Shark, etc along with Coelcanth. Overall they are pretty fast and have a decent amount of draw power. Coelcanth thinning out the deck and providing ammo for Fish Depth Charge I'm surprised the deck doesn't see usage with its fantastic synergy.

The problem with the "synergy" of Sharks is that they can't do much without combo pieces already on hand, and don't have much in terms of search power, not counting Coelcanth, which isn't always reliable due to being a Level 7. They're also extremely reliant on things like Bahamut Shark in order to make any major plays.

In short, they a bit of a one-trick pony. The support cards tend to prevent you from Special Summoning monsters other than WATER and/or Fish. Which means your main Xyz monsters will be things like No.73, 94, 101, and the Full-Armored monsters.

They're good, but half of them don't really DO anything significant. One makes all the Level 3s into Level 4, another does the opposite. Having their own Kaus helps them out, but their options are restricted.

The lack of real archetype synergy is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, they have a lot of more generic support cards, like Fish Depth and Salvage due to being Fish and supporting Fish. But not directly being an archetype or supporting an archetype means that their effects have to be specific enough to be played as intended without supporting the Type to the point of abusing it.

Meaning, their effects have to be weakened because they apply to a large group of cards, both past and present, rather than being isolated to a specific sub-group. Archetypes can wield more powerful effects because the archetype is the only set that can use those effects.
