L0SS
New version added, along with another similar concept. Do tell me what you think!
Madsen
Crop it, have the mid part be the main focus with a smaller border around. I like it though. When I hear psychedelic album art I think of Tame Impala, lol
L0SS
I love their art, and their music, very much. This is quite a bit cleaner and bolder than any of their artwork, and I think only having the middle section is a great idea. Cheers.
.Rai
Tame Impala came to my head too. I'm not sure I like how clean it is. The retro feel has a lot of tension with that overly blocky font, and surprisingly saturated colours. It's erring on sci-fi rather than psychedelia. I'd like to see a version without the purple gradients, for comparison.
Madsen
and surprisingly saturated colours. THIS IS IT. Absolutely, something didn't look right to me but this is it - psychedelic music album art should have a similar scheme to what you have but with more contrast. Cocodomoco
I don't know if you guys are familiar with Ghost Town but they have some amazing album artwork. Even though its all based off this girl the lead singer is like obsessed with its still cool. Its drawn for them by this youtube guy called iamamechanist. They make album art for each individual song.
Night
Seems far too well constructed for a "psychedelic" piece. Generally pieces like that tend to leave a lot for the viewer to interpret, that isn't really seen here. Typically you wouldn't really see any actual shapes in a piece replicating this style, or, if you do, the only thing that the viewer should be to identify as something existent should be the focal. If you do that however, which you did, everything else in the piece should contrast the focal. Mess with contrast and saturation. For example, get a focal that perhaps is something that draws attention and is easily identifiable (i.e: animal, symbol, etc). Whatever you do with the focal, do the opposite with everything else in the piece. For example, saturate the fuck out of the focal and desaturate everything else. Or, if you're going to use texture on the focal, do not, or only lightly add texture to everything else. The common misconception with the more abstract pieces is that there's literally no method, but in actuality a good artist can pull off leaving the viewer awestruck and confused while still subliminally guiding them to the focal and upholding the basic standards that accompany art. L0SS
Some nice points... not sure what made me make it so bold and clean... This is really a basic outline so I'm totally fine with taking these suggestions on board. I'd love to paint something for use but I'm not really skilled enough. Regardless, I'll definitely get another version up here pronto.

Maybe an elephant. (shaking his big gray trunk for the hell of it)

.Rai
I like it. Slightly more My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy than Tame Impala, but that's no bad thing. The general design is good, but I'd experiment with different background block colours. I think both the top and bottom shades of cyan/teal look a bit...wrong. But it's overall good stuff. I see the comparison, always liked the cover for Kanye's album. Those background colours are a bit of a pain, so I doubt I'll ever find the perfect shade, but I agree that they don't sit quite right at the moment.
