If you guys would all join i could make a Club Football Club thread in clubs. If everyone here would join i will definitely make it. Im sure we could get some great discussions going about that,

Now how come no one is talking about Italy... I think they have a really good chance of winning as well. I mean Balotelli, Rossi(heard he got injured but i think hes still playing), Pirlo. Great players and their team has always had good chemistry.

EDIT: Made a club... Beautifully named.

lol cleverley i think i died

To go over a couple of points :

- Brazil's squad might not be the strongest they've had, and that's a fair assessment given just how ludicrously far ahead of the world previous squads have been for them. But a strong squad backed by home support is such an edge over nearly everyone else that it's hard to see them underperform. They've also picked up a lot of good results in their run-up to the tournament. You're right though, if Brazil flop then the whole World Cup could see a nasty turn.

- Julio Cesar is a very, very solid gk for Brazil, his only problem really is a lack of game time due to QPR's piss-poor squad management. In Cesar's defence, he really knows how to step up to the plate when he's needed.

- Argentina are my personal dark horse pick, all they need is one good coach. So much talent in their team and it would be a shame to see Messi end his career without a World Cup winner's medal. With their squad, if they get an early good result their momentum could see them take the whole thing imo.

- I see a lot of talk about Germany, I can understand - I had backed them to win 2010/2012 only to see them miss out and I think they will miss out again. They still don't seem as strong as Spain, Brazil have the home backing and good form, Argentina have more individually talented players and finally Germany just seem to suffer from the expectation on them, having seen a young squad perform so well early. They're front runners sure, but they just don't seem to have the edge to win it. Doesn't help that influential players like Schweingsteiger and Lahm are beginning to age.

- I don't think that Italy can win. They always seem so reliant on Pirlo who is a phenomenal player sure but the team is fairly old now. Pirlo, Buffon, De Rossi, Motta, Gilardino are all in their 30's and make up the backbone of their team. They have some incredible youngsters (Verratti, Insigne, El Sharaawy) but it's too soon for them and too late for the older generation I think. They did well to reach the finals in Euro 2012 but I can't see them repeating that kind of performance. This is also in part due to Balotelli just being a crazy erratic player.

I agree with you there though, Cesar's problem was QPR's relegation. With no teams going in for him in the Summer he was left to rot in the Championship, fighting Robert Green for a place in the first team. That doesn't particularly shout out Brazil's #1 to me. Even though as you said, he would step up to the plate, his chances of getting chosen are now purely based on his previous ability, as he's had nothing to show for it this season.

  • 4 months later...

I feel that as always, Germany will do well.

Brazil will likely do nicely, they have good players like Hulk and Neymar......even if Neymar is a bit.....yeah.

Italy seems to have a REALLY nice team, I saw one of their games like a YEAR ago and I was damn impressed with their passing.

Spain....seems formidable.

Also I cant see UK making it unless they play really well......apparently Chile is also a great team this time.

Oh and of course, Argentina...eh.....they probly wont win.

I hope an European team can finally win a World Cup in South America.

Rooting for Belgium to reach somewhere relevant, they seems to be quite good.

But cup probably will go to Argentina, Spain, or Germany. Brazil seems to be kinda shitty right now.

Yeah, from what it seems Brazil had just not considered very strong players like Ronaldinho, while enabling to join, well, not so good ones.

Ronaldinho USED to be good.

He's not old....we don't know what happened. He just....stopped playing well.

It's a shame about Ganso's injury because I still believe he can play better than Oscar....

Also Lucas is so damn fast

JS.

No Totti No Party. I'm just sad he didn't get in the squad. No Luca Toni either. Would have been nice to see them destroy England. Oh well, I suppose Balotelli will have to do it.

Ronaldinho is not a very strong player. He was brilliant but now not particularly. He would have been mainly a sentimental pick like Totti would have as in all likelihood this is their last World Cup. Just out of interest, where are you from?
