Black-Winged Dragon Black Feather

Recommended Posts

Level 8 DARK Dragon-Type Synchro Effect Monster
ATK 2800
DEF 1600
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, when you take damage: Send the top 5 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then, if there were any monsters sent, this card gains 400 ATK.

Looks a bit underwhelming to me...

Regular Black Feather Dragon shielded you from the burn and could potentially burn back your opponent while weakening a monster in the process, with the only real downside of it losing some ATK for a while.

This card is just weird. burn strategies and milling have little in common at all, so the connection here is very forced.

Zephyros for a one-time use is the most likely outcome unless your opponent runs burn in some way.

I also don't like how it still allows the burn through.

Original Black-Winged Dragon is better. This would be hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

"Both Wattcobras attack, that's game."

"NOT TODAY!"

*Decks out*

There's a once per turn clause.

And it's definitely better than the old BWD, because this one actually has some utility instead of effect damage negation, which isn't very helpful in this format. Unless you know you're playing against volcanics or something with effect damage. At least with this one, it's whenever you take damage. Still, the effect should be optional to prevent self-loss.

It works on any damage, not just burn.

Ups, didn't see that.

All of a sudden it seems to have more uses.

Somehow, I still don't like it. The self-milling actually sounds very strong now.

Leaving aside first thoughts like Lightsworns and Vayus, the most hilarious thing that comes to mind is making it a WTF engine in an Uria deck.
