vla1ne
Well Gigan is one of the few monsters who has managed to make Godzilla BLEED. And when I say bleed I mean you see actual blood. The only other monsters that I think you get to see do that to the Big Guy is Biollante when she pierced Godzilla's hand and Destroyah when he went all raging horn drill on Godzilla's chest. Oh wait . . . Godzilla's first fight with Mechagodzilla resulted in a lot of blood too . . . FINALLY! Someone else who sees GMK as one of the best movies in the entire Godzilla series instead of whining "why is Godzilla supernatural!?" Gigan did make him bleed, but I'm still gonna have to say Kiriyu/MechaGodzilla is higher on the list. That point blank absolute zero did damage to godzillas chest. I have never heard of people criticizing GMK, what are those people smoking? it's the best movie in the millenium series, and at least in the top 5 movies overall (heh heh, Baragon...). he might have had a different origin, but the movie itself was practically flawless. if the new one is anything like that one, it would truly be the best godzilla related thing america ever released. His strongest enemies though, in no particular order would have to be Destroyah, Ghidorah, Spacegodzilla, mothra (somehow), and Mechagodzilla. Well.... ....Pikachu is screwed. Find one with Groudon on it. That would be epic: Godzilla vs Groudon What i'm wondering is what typing godzilla would have? dragon probably goes without saying, but the second typing might have to be a brand new one. not to mention groudon doesen't really have anything that godzilla's weak against. in fact, godzillas only consistent weakness so far in the movies has been poison, does that make him the first fairy/dragon? Uhh, where did you get FAIRY type from? I was thinking more of the GROUND (maybe DARK?) sort of thing. He doesn't really resemble a Dragon nor does he resemble a Fairy. Ground because hes a force of nature and the like.

Godzilla's only consistent weakness has been poison related tactics, and the only 2 types weak against that are grass and fairy, not to mention the dragon typing makes sense since he's resistant to fire, electric and water, and fairy is about the only thing that makes the most sense in the context of his actual stats. I know it doesn't seem like a type that Godzilla fits, but the combination makes a little more sense than ground does.
Flame Dragon
What made the trailer for me was the intro music. Using the monolith's theme from 2001 was brilliant and creates an amazing otherworldly feel. Also dat roar. Also, since pokemon somehow came into this topic, what pokemon should be named Godzilla? Only one I can think of is T-Tar.

Jake the Sage
UPDATE Apparently Godzilla 2014 is going to have a run-time of 1 hour 30 minutes. What do you guys think about the run-time? I actually think that would be the perfect amount of time for a Godzilla movie. Just long enough to be epic but not so long that you feel like it's wasting your time.
vla1ne
I was personally hoping for about 20 more minutes than that, but I'll take it as long as it proves to be as good of a movie. as that preview showed us.
Maeriberii Haan
90 minutes seems to be kinda short, but for a monster movie, it's good enough, since there's not a lot of things to be developed there.

宇佐見 蓮子@C94
All I want is that Japanese-Russian Guy from Final Wars to come back. He was the reason Final Wars is cool ;-; (Aside from, y'know, Godzilla beating the everloving shit out of everyone) The trailer looks pretty promising, but the focus on the military seems a bit out of the ordinary IMO. Aside from the original, Tokyo S.O.S, vs. Mechagodzilla (The one with Kiryu) and Final Wars, the focus is usually on several townspeople to distract you from Godzilla nuking his enemies. Even in those movies, they're specialized anti-Kaiju squad, not normal military. The King being his height here is amazing and well deserved. The premise of Godzilla fighting two monsters is also good, although hopefully they pick someone iconic, like Ghidorah, Kiryu, Mothra, Gigan etc. I mean, even if they have appeared in too many movies, everyone has been resting for 10 years. A giant monster mash with the icons wouldn't be bad. It'd be like if Undertaker and Sting faced each other in Wrestlemania 30! ....Sorry for the wrestling joke. His strongest enemies though, in no particular order would have to be Destroyah, Ghidorah, Spacegodzilla, mothra (somehow), and Mechagodzilla. Nah m8. Destoroyah and Spacegodzilla, maybe. But Final Wars introduced 3 of the toughest Godzilla enemies: Chainsaw Gigan, Monster X and Kaizer Ghidorah. Mechagodzilla isn't that that big of a threat to the Big G, especially if you're talking about the one made by space monkeys.

Mechagodzilla isn't that that big of a threat to the Big G, especially if you're talking about the one made by space monkeys. When I said Ghidorha, I meant all his forms, including monster X and Kaiser. Chainsaw Gigan felt more like Mothra's fight than Godzilla's, so I didn't list him. as for Mechagodzilla, his first battle against him was one of the worst losses that Godzilla ever had. but I didn't really mean that one, I meant the Kiryu one more than his other ones though. the absolute zero form. he was a pretty strong opponent against Godzilla. Jake the Sage
Okay for me the list of Godzilla foes and how they rank in terms of "badassitude" JDF/Doctor Serizawa Lets be honest. Japanese Defense Force hardly ever does anything to Godzilla. Doctor Serizawa on the other hand, seems to be one of the few people to actually kill Godzilla without any assist (unless you count Godzilla stepping on the Oxygen Destroyer). Anguirus Another weak opponent for Godzilla and has lost every fight he's ever been in. How is he Godzilla's "blood rival" again? King Kong King Kong was actually a pretty good opponent for Godzilla back in the day. Of course they had to beef King Kong up two over ten times his size with massive amounts of steroids that would make even Lance Armstrong envious, let him borrow the plot of getting stronger from electricity from the first draft of the movie, and the fact they GAVE him an advantage by making Godzilla shy around electricity when in the original movie he moon-walked through power lines like a baws! Mothra Everyone claims that Mothra isn't even really a rival more than a frenemy. Well I can see why that's true because she really isn't that much of a challenge when it comes to taking on Godzilla. The most powerful attack she can possibly DO is shed the scales on her wings to send Godzilla's atomic breath back at him. Yeah good tactic loosing your ability to fly to send back something grows stronger when being pelted with. Ghidorah The original Ghidorah was badass. No literally, he was a bad son of a b*tch. Even in the very FIRST movie he appeared in they had to round up Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan just to beat Ghidorah. Even after a three-way monster ass whooping Ghidorah returned again and again. He served as the f*cking FINAL BOSS in "Destroy All Monsters"! If that doesn't say how big of a villain he is I don't know what does. Also in "Destroy All Monsters" it took the combined might of not three monsters, not five monsters, but ten giant ass walking natural disasters to finally kill this golden god dragon once and for all . . . AND THEN HE WAS BROUGHT BACK AGAIN!!! Ebriha, the Sea Monster This guy is kind of a throw away and probably served better as a King Kong villain than an enemy of Godzilla. Hell! The movie was actually supposed to star King Kong until Universal opted out of the project. So instead you stick Godzilla against a giant lobster. No wonder he was killed so easily, by mutants no less, in "Final Wars." Kamacuras I'm not even going to make a joke about this. Just see Ebriha and think, "They actually thought this would be a good match." Hedorah In the trippy 70s this was a good idea. In fact remove all of the psychedelic drug induced night clubs along with the obvious green peace message and you got an interesting idea. Hedorah is purely toxic, so he can kill Godzilla by poisoning him. Unfortunately his sensitive sh*t-covered skin dries out too easily with a few atomic breathes so . . . Gigan Gigan was the first monster to make Godzilla bleed. Let that sink in for a moment. He made a monster who's regenerative capabilities make Wolverine's look anemic . . . bleed. That is a powerful ass monster right there! Not to mention he only has three movie appearances yet is still an iconic and instantly recognizable monster says something. Megalon This cockroach, which he really is, is probably one of the weirdest monsters Godzilla has ever faced. Drills for hands and vomits exploding balls, which oddly sounds awesome in some sick disturbing way, Megalon only really is a good opponent if you team him up with someone else. So go figure his one and only movie appearance has him teaming up with Gigan. He isn't even beaten by Godzilla. He got his ass handed to him by Jet Jaguar and we all know how much he gets ragged on. Mechagodzilla Second monster to make Godzilla bleed, but also the one monster . . . or robot . . . who has lost the most to Godzilla. The original was easily able to beat the holy living f*ck balls out of Godzilla, but not without taking some serious damage himself. If the original Mechagodzilla had been a wee bit stronger he'd have handed Godzilla his scaly ass up and down Tokyo Bay without breaking so much as a synthetic sweat. His second reappearance one movie later has the fun addition of a light bulb head underneath his original head so Godzilla can't beat him like a very lame and very breakable Rock'Em-Sock'Em-Robot. Considering I doubt Mecha-G wasn't fully rebuilt, adding to why the guy below was included into the movie, I can saw his defeat was expected to be short. Titanasaurus Titanasaurus' capabilities are hurricane force winds, a strong bite, and a surprisingly athletic drop kick. Unfortunately we've seen none of these things stop the Big G much less actually harm him. Biollante Third monster to make Godzilla bleed and the one that still makes me wince today! If Biollante was a little more mobile, and a lot less flammable, she'd easily be one of Godzilla's toughest opponents. She f*cking dwarfs him! Not to mention she can nom on his head while those vines choke him makes Biollante incredibly versatile but also a pure powerhouse. Give her an atomic beam and Jesus Riding a Dinosaur With Laser Guns she'd be deadly! Mechaghidorah Mix King Ghidorah with the original Mechagodzilla and you get a pretty bad ass monster right there. Okay so maybe it isn't technically mixed with the first Mechagodzilla but you guys get what I'm saying. Mechagodzilla puts up a good fight, even managing to capture Godzilla before they plummet into the sea together. The ONLY thing I see wrong with Mechaghidorah is human error. Put that sh*t on autopilot, point it at Godzilla, and I'll get the garlic salted popcorn for one motherf*cker of a giant monster fight. Battra Essentially evil Mothra, Battra has all of the capabilities of her tree hugging sister. As such she kind of puts up the same amount of fight. Mechagodzilla Mark II Of course humanity, as it so often does, f*cks up a good thing and when they get their hands on Mechagodzilla it instantly proves no match for Godzilla. Mechagodzilla gets his shinny metal ass handed to him on his maiden (bachelor?) outing? How'd you like to be the guy who proposed this to the Japanese Prime Minister? "Oh yeah! We can build this giant ass robot and have it beat Godzilla away whenever he thinks he can come ashore! All it's going to cost is almost ALL of Japan's money, but I tell you we will NEVER have to worry about Godzilla again. Uh-HU!" Yeah I'm betting that guy was fired immediately. Even "upgraded" Mechagodzilla Mark II never posed a real threat to Godzilla; no wonder why in the comics it's a "scrapped project". Spacegodzilla Like Battra is evil Mothra, Spacegodzilla is evil . . . well evil-ER Godzilla. The first thing Spacegodzilla DOES when he arrives on Earth and meets his DNA donor is pretty much pimp slap him to the ground and kidnap his kid while laughing like a b*stard. An awesome b*stard, but a b*stard nonetheless. Spacegodzilla is one of the few monsters who officially beat Godzilla and walked away. However, not making sure Godzilla is deader than MiIey Cirus' carer is about the worst thing that you as a giant monster can do. When Godzilla shows back up he manages to put up a better fight, but my guess is unless the big guy figured out to aim for the glowing weak points that is Spacegodzilla's shoulder crystals the result would have been the same. Spacegodzilla laughing at Godzilla lying facedown in the dirt and possibly teabagging him for the lulz. Destroyah What more b*stardrific than kidnapping Godzilla's son? Why f*cking killing him of course! Destroyah not only kills Godzilla Junior, in one of the most brutal ways possible, but also shanks Daddy G so much it's ridiculous! Godzilla is melting down, he is more powerful than he has ever been in his entire life, but Destroyah just keeps pounding Godzilla like a $5 hooker! He is voted Godzilla's deadliest enemy for a reason. He stared Godzilla down at his most powerful and proceeded to hand the King of the Monsters his ass for thirty full minutes of screen time. Of course once you kills the King's son in front of him, no matter how big of an ass whooping you THOUGHT you where giving him, it ain't gonna equal the one he's about to hand you. Godzilla returns Destroyah's beating ten fold and is ultimately beaten by probably the most powerful atomic breath Godzilla has and ever will produce. Orga You know how Godzilla makes Wolverine's regeneration look anemic? Well Ogra's does the same for Godzilla. Godzilla can reheal from practically anything, even if he's just a heart, but it takes time. Ogra says "F*CK THAT SH*T!" and does it in under a minute. I joke that Ogra's the "fanboy" monster because he wants to BE Godzilla. He's strong and can take just about anything Godzilla throws at him . . . but he isn't the brightest monster out there. I'll stick his head in my mouth! Yeah we all know he was trying to eat Godzilla, but we also saw how this was going to end. His face right before his head exploded was priceless though (^^)b Megaguirus Continuing on from Ogra's tradition. Megaguirus absorbs Godzilla's power for her own. Also this is the third official "female" monster so give her some applauds! Faster than Godzilla and able to drain his energy away. In fact if plot hadn't saved Godzilla by a timely stinger catch, Godzilla might have all of his energy drained away by the over sized dragonfly. Kiryu While Kiryu hasn't made Godzilla bleed, he is the only Mechagodzilla that has actually done it's job of turning Godzilla away from Tokya. After destroying the city by itself first. Yeah just a slight oversight on that one. Kiryu is only just barely better than Mechagodzilla Mark II in my book because he did his job, even if it was just once. Gigan Mark II First monster the newly awoken Godzilla fights and the first time in a while Gigan is seen in a movie. How does he grace the screen? By having his head blown off! It's okay since he gets a new nogging, but seriously he has his head just blown off? The new design looks cool though and Gigan has more sadistic toys to play with, but again he is kind of easily defeated. I know the monster below is supposed to be the ultimate bad guy but couldn't we have Gigan Mark II die from something slightly less humiliating than having his own buzz saws decapitate him? He looses to Mothra, though kills her in the process, so I can't say Gigan Mark II is a strong enemy against Godzilla . . . seeing as he was the first monster Godzilla beat in the movie. Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah Did you know Kaiser Ghidorah was actually a Mothra villain? Yup! "Rebirth of Mothra" came out LONG before "Final Wars" and has Des Ghidorah, which is Kaiser Ghidorah, as it's villain. That said Kaiser Ghidorah is King Ghidorah turned to maximum badassitude. If it wasn't for human intervention I can say without a doubt Kaiser Ghidorah would've drained all of Godzilla's energy away, thus killing him. The entire fight between the two from the moment he arrived as Monster X was back and forth, back and forth. He held his ground against Godzilla so well it isn't possible for me to make a joke about it. He is definitely one of the most powerful Godzilla foes ever. [hr] I find it slightly funny I only had to look up Destroyah and Megaguirus' death as well as count how many monsters were in "Destroy All Monsters". Beyond that all of this information was done by memory alone. Impressive, no?

How is he Godzilla's "blood rival" again?Anguirus is one of Godzilla's allies. Same goes for Mothra. In fact, Mothra is actually stronger then Godzilla, but only when she needs to be. Other then that, she is just some drone used by the Cosmos. Which is why Mothra tends to portrayed as being weaker then Godzilla, if only because Mothra has to multitask every time she is in an episode with him. How is he Godzilla's "blood rival" again?Anguirus is one of Godzilla's allies. In the original movie he appeared, "Godzilla Raids Again", it is stated that Anguirus is supposed to be the mortal enemy of Godzilla and his races. Yes he did eventually become allies but originally he was supposed to be Godzilla's rival. That can be completely debated. Mothra fought against Gigan and lost during "Final Wars" while Godzilla was able to easily beat the cyborg monstrosity. Though I'll say this Mothra did beat Godzilla with Battra's help. All other times Mothra has been on the verge of dying. If we include the Mothra series then I'll say that she can easily be a match for Godzilla, maybe even win. vla1ne
Going by their average power, without assistance, Godzilla has the upper hand, seeing as most of mothras fights against Godzilla have ended in either a pyrrhic victory, or a tag team fight. Mothra's strong, but I've never actually seen his base form do anything In 1 on 1 battles without some form of assistance from another person/monsterAs far as their max power goes, Mothra's best form was probably the jet-like form from his third(?)movie. while Godzilla's best form was undoubtedly his burning form. so as far as that goes Godzilla would more than likely win hands down. Yes he did eventually become allies but originally he was supposed to be Godzilla's rival. It's funny.... That's one of the only ones I have never seen. Then again, after said movie, they basically disregarded whatever canon it established, and said he was one Godzilla's friends from then on. That can be completely debated. Mothra fought against Gigan and lost during "Final Wars" while Godzilla was able to easily beat the cyborg monstrosity. Though I'll say this Mothra did beat Godzilla with Battra's help. All other times Mothra has been on the verge of dying.Assuming you are talking about that 2000-series one with Battra- That was actually a reference to when Mothra first appeared, in the sense that she used the silk/thread/whatever as a net to ensnare Godzilla, and defeat him on the account of him being unable to move. Regardless, though, I did say that Mothra looses cuz' it's always some stupid reason that she can't fight back/etc, to which leads to her downfall. Because, again, Mothra is just some entity that the Cosmos use to do their bidding. Plus, considering the fact that Motha can be summed on a whim, and has seemingly endless eggs/offsprings, no wonder she is basically a scapegoat.
