TTR~
Because why not. This thread is for users to recommend games considered obscure or received a bad review but are actually good games, a "hidden gem" I'll start:
NIER is an action RPG developed by Cavia and published by Square Enix. The story follows a gruff father trying to save his only daughter. You're joined by a foulmouthed possessed woman named Kainé and a shy boy named Emil. This game will make you laugh and cry, but mostly cry. I tried not to spoil anything, because it's a heck of a ride. I totally recommend. As a bit of trivia, there are two versions in Japan, "Gestalt" and "Replica". However, the states only received the "Gestalt" version and changed the name to just NIER. Lonk
Anything by Amusement Vision. Go ahead, name one game they made. It's guaranteed to be an amazing title, but you would've not acknowledged the game's presence. For Christ's sake, F-Zero GX, a AAA title from a 'high-profile Nintendo franchise' still doesn't get enough love. People only know that it exists because of Brawl. TTR~
Here's another
OFF is an RPG created in RPG Maker by Mortis Ghost. This is one of my favorite RPG's ever. Not too long, not too hard, just right. The cast is insanely quirky, and it always gives off an unsettling vibe. You take the roll of the Batter who's job is to purify each "zone" of specters. The most unique RPG I've ever played. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too.
goddamnit names are a pain
Anything by Amusement Vision. Go ahead, name one game they made. For Christ's sake, F-Zero GX, a AAA title from a 'high-profile Nintendo franchise' still doesn't get enough love. People only know that it exists because of Brawl. I knew about F-Zero before Smash Bros. Can't remember the game too well since Gamecube. I remember a bunch of aliens and such and it being a sweet racing game. But I kind of like that PSP franchise a little bit more. Wipeout? Patapon Series. Hands down, one of the best gems I've played. Yet so many people stopped playing it. Heck, it was rare to find more than 100 people online at a time.
TTR~
Heck, it was rare to find more than 100 people online at a time. Really? You can get a Patapon/LocoRoco bundle on amazon for like 10 bucks.
goddamnit names are a pain
Really? You can get a Patapon/LocoRoco bundle on amazon for like 10 bucks. I like Patapon 3 the most. Honestly, I didn't play 1. 3 Requires an online entitlement voucher to play, so that could be an issue. Its the only game that lets you play online though, and it was the best, in my opinion. StarKnightJacobs
Soul Nomad and the World Eaters, and it just so happens to be one of my favorite games of all time. Heck, any game with NIS on the front of it is worth investigating, especially if its from the PS2 era.
TTR~
Chulip is a bizarre adventure game where your goal is to kiss residents of your town to build up your heart, so you will be able to win over the girl of your dreams. This game is truly fantastic and beyond quirky. The soundtrack is very catchy with some nice doo-wop tracks. I can't really say anything else about it, it's such a genuine experience and I extremely recommend if you want to try something new.
