Accelerator

The number 1 Strongest Esper in Academy City, far stronger than any other of his fellow Level 5 Espers, he is an antagonist turned protagonist from the Toaru series. He has the incredibly powerful ability called Vector Shift, which allows him to adjust the vectors of anything (e.g. anything with force and a direction such as momentum, gravity, light), in addition to this, he is able to auto-pilot the ability to reverse any vectors, thus making anything that touches him immediately start going in the opposite direction with the same force, even things that he is unaware of, such as shots from hidden snipers. Lastly, he has the ability to Awaken, where he loses all consciousness and gains tremendous power as well as angelic wings and a halo.

Goku

I'm sure I don't have to explain Goku to anyone.

[hr]I voted Accelerator. Let me explain, Accelerator's redirection ability simply renders all of Goku's attacks null. In addition to this, Espers get stronger by fighting a strong opponent. There was originally a project where they would make Accelerator fight a lot and try to make him Level up to Level 6, which would mean he would effectively become a literal god. Fighting someone as strong as Goku would make him become stronger incredibly fast.

Unless Goku pulled back on his punch so the force would be redirected back towards Accelerator. That IS a thing, you know. His auto reversal wouldn't really help in that case and I doubt he'd really be able to keep up with Goku's speed while still being able to figure out what would be a hit pulled back and what would be an actual hit but really the first blow Goku dishes out would more than likely be enough to take him out. Although this implies that Goku would actually be able to figure that out and my knowledge of Accelerator is limited only to the two seasons of To Aru Majutsu No Index.

I was agreeing with your last statement.

You realize you pointed out something that didn't work anyway, right?

You realize that I do know Accelerator's weaknesses considering that I did point out something that happened at the end of that particular arc, right?

You really needed to word that better. Like, "I agree there, buddy" would have been fine.

You realize you pointed out something that didn't work anyway, right?

How so? The incredible unlikelihood that Goku would ever possibly think that pulling his punches back might work against the vector reversal? He's dumb but it's not impossible. You could just say that Accelerator wouldn't tell him his power and that would be fine and certainly possible. Wait, you said didn't. Did that one guy pulling his punch not actually work? Because I don't recall Accelerator letting himself be punched just because he felt like it. Unless that WAS something fixed in Railgun or another work and the weakness doesn't actually exist anymore.

You realize that I do know Accelerator's weaknesses considering that I did point out something that happened at the end of that particular arc, right?

Of course. I was just disappointed by the lack of mention of it. Really, the only points you made were something that does have a weakness, because Goku is strong that'll suddenly make Accelerator a bajillion times stronger, and maybe that Awaken was a good mention but whether or not that allows him to be on par with Goku's power wasn't really mentioned at all. You were clearly more interested in introducing Accelerator yet didn't delve into anything important in your argument that people who don't know as much about Accelerator should clearly know. Also, why didn't you just mention Accelerator can reverse the flow of Goku's blood? I really can't think of anything against that.

Accelerator would split him like a fish. The only means of inflicting physical harm available to Goku are via energy transfer, and none of that works on accelerator due to kinetic energy being a vector. The only question is how much energy/mass can Accelerator manipulate. If there is a threshold, I'm sure Goku would be able to cross it.

Goku wins.

Accelerator has no feats of redirecting star destroying attacks, and BoG has him able to keep up with characters that should be faster than light.

It simply automatically reverses the vector's direction characteristic, it doesn't block it or anything. Accelerator's Redirection has the capacity to redirect light. No limit is ever mentioned about his ability and it is always implied that you cannot get through it through brute force.

Touma's Imagine Breaker cannot instantly negate very powerful attacks.

It stands to reason that Accelerator cannot instantly redirect very powerful attacks.

I think Accelerator would crush him, unless Goku were to somehow find out how to combat Accelerator, which Desperado mentioned.

I'm fairly certain that Accelerator has never reflected anything on such a scale. Wouldn't the "calculations" he has to do be immense, and moreover, if he was worried about a dust explosion depriving him of oxygen, how exactly is he going to find any after that goes blazing through the atmosphere?

Except Goku can't breath without air either.

Not an issue, as I believe SSG Goku doesn't need to breathe, and even if he does, he can teleport somewhere else with air using Instant Transmission.

So I ask again, do you honestly believe Accelerator would be able to stop a solar system from evaporating around him?

I suppose this comes down to a "conditions of the fight" thing then. Goku also wouldn't evaporate the solar system because he's not going to kill billions of people to defeat a single person.

If you decide on the "abstract arena" then it very well may be a massive empty room filled with air.

And Goku's power level is also as inconsistent as hell.

I'd say it's consistently fairly higher over any destructive power seen in TAMnI.

The real fact of the matter is that Goku is going to punch at Accelerator, which isn't going to knockout either combatant (although it would if Accelerator was not reflecting it), and then he will know to be cautious when attacking; perhaps a basic ki blast his way. When that doesn't work either, well...

It's going to be a stalemate if Goku doesn't put out more energy than Accelerator could logically reflect, because Accelerator is far too slow to ever lay a hand on Goku, and he's not going to kill himself by attacking Accelerator recklessly.

Which came to my statement with the fact that Accelerator is constantly reaching towards becoming a Level 6 which is supposed to grant him God-like powers.

Has he ever done so in his series' canon?

And you're going to have to elaborate on the "God-like" part, because Goku is stronger than quite a few gods.

Level 6 Accelerator is all conjecture, we can't say anything about how strong he is other than that he is stronger.

Theoretically, if Goku continues to train as a "god", he could reach Saint Seiya levels - whistfully blowing away galaxies.

If you're looking for Accelerator to screw someone up, try Naruto, he can probably solo the Naruto-verse.

No matter what way you slice it though, he's just totally out of his scale in DBZ

Very well, I'll ignore the Level 6 part.

I went and read Accelerator's Outskirts Battledome and it says he can flay someone by touching them. If this is the case, he should be able to rip Goku's skin off despite Goku's durability as it simply is creating a vector value for Goku's skin.

Also, if Goku punches him, wouldn't Goku's arm be broken? That is often the effect of trying to hit Accelerator as your own force is used against you.

I doubt Goku would put all of his power into the first blow, and that he would be unable to take it if it were directed back at him.

Goku has a lot more durability than the average guy who attacks Accelerator.

And as I said, Accelerator shouldn't be able to lay his hands on Goku. He can have his punch reflected, feel it, and back out of his range before Accelerator moves.

I don't know what exactly you want to get out of this match.

Could Accelerator kill Goku? Sure he could he has the means to beat him -  if he walked into Goku on the street. -  but the difference in physical capabilities means he won't ever get the chance if Goku is fighting him

Meanwhile, if Goku wants to kill Accelerator, there's really no way you can argue that he can't. A vast majority of characters would fold to Goku if he really put all of himself into an attack.

Except that no attack affects Accelerator unless it is non-vector based.

Farhermore everyone over saw that goku won. Look at the poll.

Odd that two random inactive YCMers decided to vote.
