What is your opinion on the new comment section? Please include any arguments you have on the subject. Here is something to keep in mind. https://www.change.org/petitions/youtube-and-google-bring-back-the-old-comment-system-and-stop-forcing-google-on-those-that-don-t-want-it For those who want the old comment system back of course.

I personally hate the new comment system. If I wanted google+ I would have used it, I also want to be able to easily access the comment that people have replied to, not to mention posting requires you to now select where you want to post and some shit. I'm not saying that each new update is terrible, I've gotten used to the update prior, but this new one just brings it one step closer to crap.

I don't have any issues with the idea here, I do however have issues with how shoddily it was implemented. The top comment sorting is completely arbitrary, without any clear direction,  and without an interface to tell if they are top rated or not makes it a complete mess. The same goes for what the system considers "spam" which is completely ridiculous because they are found in a different interface. And there's crap you can do about it.

And the message on the old inbox interface suggests that you can no longer see if a comment you've made was responded to. I do not know if this is the case, but my comment response ratio is pretty much reduced, if this thing is to be believed. If this is the case, it removes a very useful feature that made communication on videos possible in favor of promoting an all too famous social network system. Thanks, Google, you've done the complete opposite for me.

Adapt or die.

I'm actually quite happy with it. It's much more organized, there's no text limit (which can get pretty annoying when you're explaining something to someone), and you can post links. The only issue with these is that people troll us by copying and pasting entire books or posting links to screamers saying it's cute kittens. Luckily I saw that coming from a mile away, but the responses are quite entertaining (btw, responses to trolls are piled onto one expandable folder, which means less clutter of idiocy in the entire comments.)

Right now, the only the Google+ implementation into YT is in the comments section, but that doesn't mean they're gonna stop there. Little by little, Google will perform a hostile takeover to YT. It's very possible that you might lose the right to subscribe if you don't have a Google+, you can't make videos if you don't have Google+, and whatnot. Then there's the whole "Comments not popping up in Inbox" tidbit. And the ASCII Penis. And the entire script of fucking Brokeback Mountain.

That said, this video here raises some very good points on the new comments system:

When the co-founder of YouTube finds fault with the system, there's clearly something wrong with it. While the system is marginally cleaner, the requirement of a Google+ account will no doubt alienate more than a few people. It's dangerous stuff, the relationship between Google and YouTube.

I'm actually more mad about the fact that you have to refresh videos to view them again after you are done watching it o_0

Probably a fault with your browser or cache or something, because that's certainly not happening with me.

Edit: Hmm, I've just started occasionally suffering the same issue, but I also think it's my browser.

TBH, I think the older system was just fine.

Granted, it is a bit more organized now but still somewhat of a pain to navigate. the idea of needing Google+ to use some of that stuff is plain BS. We already have Facebook/other social media to do that stuff for us.

Yeah, that will suck (though should be glad that they didn't keep the min. age at 18 to get Google+). Though most of us here should be old enough to get it, but as I mentioned above, why should we need to sign up for another Facebook-esque thing just to watch videos?

@.Rai: I have same problem with videos as you (replay button sometimes doesn't work like it should be; as a result, refreshing the page to watch video again).

Then, there's the issue of YT working on Chrome (sometimes videos won't play on it, but that might just be me)

It seems like too much of a coincidence for this to be just a browser thing.  My older brother did state that this probably could've been done to increase the amount of views done on YT courtesy of Google and their big business approach.
