The Other Side of Vytal

 

Legends: stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past. Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful. But he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness: creatures of destruction, the creatures of Grimm, set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man’s brief existence to the void. However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change. And in time, man’s passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named Dust. Nature’s wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadows’ absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life. But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone, darkness will return. So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so called “free world,” but take heed, there will be no victory in strength. But perhaps, victory is in the simpler things that you’ve long forgotten, things that require a smaller, more honest soul.

Now, if this hasn’t already become obvious, this is a RWBY RP (initialism overload). However, so as to avoid awkward issues regarding canon, this RP will NOT take place on the continent of Vale, rather taking place on a separate continent in the world of Vytal known as Grove. Grove, similar to Vale, is largely unpopulated aside a large coastal city of the same name. In Grove, the lower level training school (the equivalent of Vale’s Signal academy) is known as Orchid academy, whereas the upper level school (the equivalent of Beacon) is known as Camellia Academy. The graduation age between the two is 17, just as it is in Vale. To start off, this story will not have too many major twists, though I plan for an attack by the White Fang organization after things get rolling. The way things start off ought to be similar to the second through 4rth episodes of RWBY. If anybody has any further storyline ideas, I am completely up to suggestions. I want this RP to be as much a group project as it is mine.

Name: (first and last)

Color: (similar to the show, I want each character to have their own color. It is completely OK for a character to have the same color as somebody from canon, or the same color as another PC

Gender:

Age: (there ain’t gonna be no Ruby Roses around here. If you are entering into Camellia Academy, you MUST be 17)

Species: Human or Faunus (if faunus, please specify the animal they share features of)

Affiliation: Student, staff, White Fang, or other.

Personality: four lines minimum.

History: two paragraphs minimum

Appearance: pictures are allowed, if not using a picture, replace with minimum 5 lines of text.

Weapon (if any): Please either give a picture of the weapon your character will use, and/or supplement with text description. Explain any functions that this weapon can perform.

Other Equipment: dust canisters, grappling hooks, whathaveyou.

Innate Abilities: This can include the night vision granted to Faunus, as well as the Semblances of characters such as Pyrrha, Ruby, and Weiss.

1.) Do not godmod/powerplay or "force" actions upon other characters that you did not create

2.) Creating impromptu, relatively unimportant NPCs so as to facilitate storyline is PERFECTLY OK

4.) The preferred length of posts would be a bare minimum of two paragraphs if little is going on in the storyline, but if it is important you should aim for greater than three.

5.) Each person is allowed to have up to 4 playable characters, though, as said before, they can make as many NPC’s as necessary.

6.) Advanced Clause:

a. All IC posts require at least 4 lines of text, or roughly 100 words at standard formatting.
b. Posting in script format is forbidden.

c. Copy-pasting or “expying” characters without tailoring them to the new roleplay is forbidden.

I agree. I mean, I really like the concept and would like to make my own RWBY character, but this just seems a little disorganized.

All the other RPs I'm in seem dying though, so I might.
