Premier Alexander Romanov
You mean without any info gathered from this event to help? If so, the only thing I can honestly say I'd come up with is having just one continual PM per member for guesses. OK. What about with the info? Legend Zero
That is what this thread is for. Did you read the OP? It does say "Things I learned".
Sleepy
I was laughing IRL the first night, when I posted something "giving away" info about me at the News thread, and the Ringmaster called out to me on that. Then a couple people thought I was British. Some also thought I was BulletMonkey, who it looks like it had left the site half a month earlier without announcing it to the event. Too bad I did not succeed at diverting away the thought that Jack of the Lantern was Sleepy. Half the event I was actually worried that I might be the most guessed correctly. Not because I may think I'm that well known, but for other issues that happened at first. I have to say, I'll actually miss Ghost Sheet Stanley running around. ~British Soul~
@LZ And also, how many people correctly guessed my identity? Then a couple people thought I was British. I think it was Arin who told my actual account: go away Jack of the Lantern.
Sleepy
@LZ I think it was Arin who told my actual account: go away Jack of the Lantern. Nonono xD I meant that people thought I was a British person, not the user British. Haha. Though, it could also have been.... who knows. =D
Legend Zero
I've deleted the info. But it was around 10 member guessed you, British. iirc

Oooh... I didn't think I was that easy to figure out. I'm not sure what gave me away. Maybe it was the fact that alot of the time whenever my monster account was online, I was not. Nonono xD I meant that people thought I was a British person, not the user British. Haha. Though, it could also have been.... who knows. =D If I recall on Monday, people thought that Jack of the Lantern was either myself or Tormey. It made me think, of course. This is Sleepy Hollow. So it turns out I was right for the wrong reason. And scared the hell out of you as a bonus.10 people correctly guessed my identity? Oooh... I didn't think I was that easy to figure out. I'm not sure what gave me away. Your incredibly blunt way of saying things. It was just something about the way you type that makes you extremely easy to recognize. kingdom Neos-level if you ask me.
Premier Alexander Romanov
So how could we make the event more interesting to appeal to more people? Some people said that they barely followed it, or simply didn't care.

In that case, I was a s*** monster, but mentioning that name to me is a no-no.
Catterjune
Stop! Hatcher time!I didn't really like and/or participate in the Halloween Monster Hunt because I'm a terrible person and also because I had a few other pressing issues to attend to. However if I understand correctly, a bunch of YCM-ers made "monster" accounts, posted about, and then it was up to any random YCM-er to guess which monster was which user. And in there lies the key problem...I don't know any of you bastards. But that's just because I'm a weirdo crazy person. For new users or anyone else who doesn't pay attention to the "YCM-elite" it's gonna be even more difficult. The one big problem is the game can only really be played by the people selected as monsters and the people who are their friends on YCM. If you're not a monster or not any of their friends there's no point in playing.Random, unorganized thoughts:- I know the next big idea is a turkey hunt or something which looks to be a repeat of this. My idea for "fixing" it would be to get one or two or a dozen or so "turkey" accounts and just post around. Players would then "report" each Turkey account, with the assumption being a report would be like shooting at a turkey. The one who reported the most posts, or reported the most turkey accounts, or reported the most posts in a section, or some other weird combination would get points and the through the magic of math a "winner" would be declared, or perhaps three winners (most turkeys shot, most shots fired, most diverse turkey shooter), or perhaps one winner if he won all three crowns. It'd get people into the habit of reporting posts and exploring other sections...- Some people mentioned it in the Whatever Council Club topic but I do quite like the idea of a roleplay-style subforum where the event would take place. If we do something similar to a monster hunt next year with RP-ing elements, could we do a Masquerade Ball instead? People make a "Mask" account and we Role Play like we're going to a fancy ball and the game is to figure out who is who. Or something similar... idk.- Earlier LZ said:Overall I was very happy with the entire event. With hindsight being 20/20 there are obviously some things I would do differently, but live and learn.Like... what? I mean, just so this topic doesn't devolve into: "The Top Ten Things LZ already knew." And if you got something in mind, maybe it'll get others thinking too. A I X won because he could tell, more or less, who was who, and even then, he only got 5 right. However, from what I have gathered, other than actual feedback regarding how many you got right, there was no real way of making it any easier without many it too easy.I know the next big idea is a turkey hunt or something which looks to be a repeat of this. Like you stated, it gets people to actually explore the site instead of sitting around for the latest status update from a monster, and learn the importance of reporting posts. Some people mentioned it in the Whatever Council Club topic but I do quite like the idea of a roleplay-style subforum where the event would take place. And New Year's might be a good time to do such a Masquerade thing.Hmm...what if these "Mask" accounts were parodies of YCM members, and had similar usernames, to add some real fun to the entire event? Catterjune
That's the main problem I had. A I X won because he could tell, more or less, who was who, and even then, he only got 5 right.Well thats how the game is played though. It's like complaining that Usain Bolt won the marathon because he ran the fastest. >_>My problem with the game wasn't that it was too hard. My problem is that it was impossible for anyone but a select few individuals, those being people who actually befriended any of the people who were monsters. New users, and users who don't take YCM that seriously are pretty much barred from playing along.I mean... that might have been the point of this particular game so the argument is that it was a crappy point. The Halloween Monster Hunt wasn't that inclusive, and when started it became even less so.
