I know it is called different names in other regions, but its called "Letter Box" in Australia

I assume that everyone who has got a 3DS and has connected online today has received the spot pass message, and I find it a shame to see it go due to over abuse.

I dont have a news article at the moment but ill find one soon, but the reason why it was shut down was that minors were sharing their friend codes online and were abusing other people on the internet using disturbing imagery.

All I can say is that I hope Nikki doesn't go away for too long :( she was awesome

I read about this too. The special message thing has been dropped entirely. I don't get people. While they can use Swapnote (USA name) to share images, why abuse it? I know people have better ways of doing that than on a 3DS. Not that it should be done at all, though.

Leave it too adults to abuse kids' technology.

It was probably not adults abusing children's tech. The thing was shut down due to parents complaining that their children were receiving inappropriate content through the SpotPass feature. This probably means that younger, immature folks were finding inappropriate things to send out. Back when i was in a grade around 5th, I would always receive inappropriate things via text from folks at school because they were immature. That's probably the kind of thing that was happening.
