Seeing them with Devil Driver in about a month.

Definitely one of the better "Metalcore" bands out now, although I've kind of come to hate that label.

More like among the shitties. There's 3 types of metalcore bands, the good ones (Norma Jean, The Chariot, Converge etc...), the generic ones (Miss May I, BMTH, We Came As Romans etc...) and the dull-decent mainstream ones (BFMV, Trivium, Killswitch Engage).

Ascendancy was decent though. If you ever saw Avenged Sevenfold live and think they're pretty good, chances are you're going to have a fun time seeing them live. Trivium is pretty much Avenged Sevenfold is they never left metalcore/switch to poppier metal-issh.

No offense, but you're pretty much just confusing your preference for more punk-structured Metalcore with some fictional rule governing quality.

I find chuggachuggacore bands to be dull and uninspired.   No proper song structure or direction.  Just noise.

But thanks for reminding me why I hate the metal community.

Also, strangely enough, I prefer A7X after they stopped doing metalcore.

That's a bit narrow to say, there is structure in it, it's just not easy to notice and all music is noise. Bands like the ones that Supernatural mentioned focus more on intensity, they use their chaotic song structures to convey emotions such as anger, despair, and hatred. You might not notice it all when you listen to it, but there is more to bands like that then you think. Funny since you pretty much have the same opinion on those kinds of bands that I had before.

Oh, I know, I'm just trying to get across that it's silly to make such firm tiers of quality, when others can have a completely different perspective.  Chaotic song structure doesn't make music automatically bad, but it also doesn't make music automatically good either.

I appreciate Trivium for their Thrash and Melodeath-ish sensibilities.

Same lol. Since this has been my kind of taste Metal-wise...

I only heard Ascendancy and I quite liked it. The intro was great, "Dying in Your Arms" has mainstream appeal but that doesn't push it out of the 'good' range for me and "Departure" was probably my favourite on the album.

Yeah, I like Dying in Your Arms but it's about as far as I can go in terms of melodrama.

Well, Converge was one of the pioneers of Metalcore. "Punk-structured metalcore" is actually how the genre sounded like until genericore rise record bands mix it in with poppier influence and tons of breakdown. So it evolve but it's still a broad genre unless you're looking it in a narrow point of view.

Again, chuggachuggacore, djent heavy, breakdown throwing usually are mostly the genericore bands. Listen to Miss May I (you're chuggachuggacore band), any song, every song is pretty similar and then listen to The Killing Tree or Converge. You'll notice a difference.

Plus, my favorite metal band is Deftones and mostly their slower, atmospheric songs are their best ones.

If there's any community that I'll be a part of, it'll probably be the Greendale's study group Community (tv reference).

If you ever catch them live during their City Of Evil or S/T era and have a great time that you'll probably will with Trivium. But Heafy and Beaulieu can be 50/50 during live shows.
