thanonyx
http://youtu.be/A71i0a5x-qA I loved this show as a kid. It was unlike any other Batman cartoon at the time and still is today. It was dark, edgy, full of suspense, a star cast, and the kids of the 90's ate it up. If you grew up with his show, or didn't but like it anyway, please leave a comment describing why you like Batman the Animated series.
Just Crouton
Earlier this year, I watched it on the Hub for the first time in 20 years, and the show is even better than I remembered it. Every episode has a sophisticated atmosphere and if you listen closely, a soundtrack unique to the episode. So, every episode is in a way, a different experience, which is how a show heavy on problem-of-the-day stories should be (points to several Japanese shows that could take a nod from this show.) The sophistication was lost with the New Adventures, but that was made to be consistent with Superman, and was an excellent and visually beautiful show (better animation, too) regardless. TAS is one of those shows that, despite the lack of a main storyline (much like it's source material over it's 70+ year run), is highly addictive. Also, Mask of the Phantasm and Sub-Zero. Justice Master
This is my go to example of great western animation and what I used to use as the basis of my argument every time when the Pony menace took over the internet. (Unless they said, "but it's not a slice of life!" Then I just use seasons 2-7 of The Simpsons.) Anyway, back on topic, not much to say, but amazing. Like, seriously, anyone who hasn't watched it really should. Great voices, great characters, great plot, heck, it's spin-off is still really solid! EPTinYugi
Didn't get to see it when I was a kid. Couple of months ago I saw it on youtube and I am hooked. Now I understand all those people who say this show was one of their greatest or the greatest show that deeply affected their childhood. Wished I saw it when I was young; might have understood some references on the internet, but at least I saw it. Also, Bruce Timm has many good shows: This show, both Justice Leagues, and Batman Beyond; a little with Green Lantern The Animated Series, it was good, but not like the others. Astro Dude
I loved that show. Quotes time!: "I'm not so bad at laying traps myself." "Here's to our commisioner G. You lock up the weirdos, the crooks and the geeks. You're a hero to all of the boys in blue, but this time baby the jokes on you." "He didn't want us. That chemical is part of a binary compound and Mr. francis must have been exposed to the other part this morning when Joker threatened him." "Only you can put the king in check, vigilante. Move according to the rules or it's the end of the day."
thanonyx
I liked the episode where everyone thought Batman was dead. It mainly focuses on the Joker and how he's coping with Batman's supposed death. At first he revels in the fact that now there is no one who can stop him but then he has an epiphany. There is no one out there to match wits with him anymore, no one to give him a real challenge and make the game fun. His greatest joy in life, gone forever. He mourns the loss of his adversary and even holds a funeral for him and eventually tries to hunt down the man who did the bat in. Eventually both Joker and the wannabe gangster that supposedly killed Batman learn that he is, in fact, alive. Joker becomes overjoyed that his greatest adversary is still alive and well to play another round of his sick and twisted little games, I can't say the same for the guy who the criminal underworld thought killed him though. What about the eulogy? It's the best part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld0uIhst3TA
