thanonyx
http://youtu.be/S0sUxwGRa8M http://youtu.be/8LsLBKlqL54 Omega Boost is a three dimensional shoot 'em up developed by Polyphony Digital for the Sony PlayStation. In the game, players take control of the Omega Boost, a giant robot. The player is charged with travelling back in time to stop an artificial intelligence called Alpha Core from altering ENIAC, the first computer, and thus making itself more powerful in the future. The gameplay takes place in waves, meaning that enemies will appear in the same groups and formations in the same order every playthrough. The player doesn't get to choose what order to engage an entire stage's enemies, just the ones in the current wave. This rail-shooter element does not hamper the player's freedom to fly where they choose in most stages. On some stages, the player has complete control of Omega Boost, specifically areas where they are in Planet ETA's atmosphere. Other stages limit the player in terms of speed (falling through the timeshaft). When I found out about this game recently the first thought that went through my mind was, "Why did I not have this game?" I love mecha games and anime and I'm surprised this one got by me. I watched some videos of it and I decided to get Omega Boost and try it for myself. When I did I was completely blown away. For a PS1 game the graphics are top notch and the way you can just fly around and blow everything in sight to kingdom come. The real fun part is the mech vs mech battles, those are the highlights of the game. I highly recommend Omega Boost to anyone who is a fan of mecha or the PS1 and I advise that you track down a copy. OR you can just download an ISO of it, I won't judge.
VictorSempra
I remember, long long ago, I had a few demo discs for the PS1, one of which had this. While it was only a demo, damn was that thing fun. I'm a HUGE sucker for nostalgia, so at osme point I might track this down and pick it up. It was extremely unique, as was the almost everything with the PS1. Things like this definitely deserve more attention, eve if it's old.

thanonyx
Ah yes, the PS1, so many hours did I invest in that machine during my youth. I still have all my PS1 games (that still work). It truly was a system of the golden age of gaming and had many great games and hidden gems such as Omega Boost. You know some people I showed it too actually thought it was an early PS2 game?
