Jake the Sage
So that's three Pokemon with move-sets I can use . . . interesting.
Agro
You could also go Dragon Dance Haxorus. Thing has ridiculous base Attack and a Dragon Dance or two will outrun everything. Then you realize it has access to Outrage, Earthquake, and Shadow Claw and you can just go to town on his entire team.
Elijah~
It all depends on your strategy Jake. What's your main strategy? Offensive? Stall? Baton Pass?
vla1ne
T-Bolt is way better than Thunder. You lose way to much acc for not a ton of extra power.yeah, I meant t-bolt. That drop in power (with already low accuracy) really killed all hope of thunder being useful outside of rain sweep teams.

Elijah~
Tell him he's a whore. That's offensive. Really? OT: If you're running an offensive set, go with the Pokemon that vla1ne and Agro suggested since they have great Attack and Special Attack. My personal recommendation is to bring at least one Physical Wall/ Special Wall so you won't get completely nuked. Good examples of Pokemon who can fulfill these roles are Blissey and Steelix. Agro
Good examples of Pokemon who can fulfill these roles are Blissey and Steelix. Don't do those. There are better options. Skarmory can handle defenses well, while also throwing out Spikes, or if you don't mind sending a move tutored one over from BW2, Stealth Rocks, then Whirlwind the opponent over and over to build up damage.. Also Taunt or Brave Bird are cool. And it only has 2 weaknesses. Sturdy is a good ability too so that it doesn't get OHKO'd. Steelix can wall, sure, but it doesn't have much else. Its SpD and Speed are both awful. Blissey's just generally outclassed by Chansey+eviolite. There's also Ferrothorn. Weak to Fire, but it's got high Def and Sp Def. And of course, Aegislash, which is just dominant.

vla1ne
Also, thanks to the recently held pokemon tournament, I remembered the need to have something on your team that can use priority moves. needless to say that will not be a problem in the future. BehindTheMask
The thing with sable eye is that its usefulness is dependent on your opponent, He can really be dead weight in certain matchups

Agro
But errebody loves Dewott. Less be honest, it's a badass. Actually, my least favorite gen V starter is Snivy. Only because I can call Tepig "Bacon."
Flash Flyer - Sakura
TBH, none of the Unova starters are particularly impressive. Mine is Samurott, since it has relatively balanced stats and can play mix if I have to; hence why I chose it for first two runs in White 2, followed by Emboar (even though Fire/Fighting got boring after a while). Snivy has speed, but offenses are severely lacking [even with the help of its HA, Contrary]
Elijah~
Mine is Snivy since I can make people rage quit with it. My favorite set is Leech Seed/Glare/Taunt/Safeguard with 252 Speed/ 252 Def( Brave Bird and Flare Blitz)/ 4 SpDef EVS.
Agro
Lessbe clear. No one cares about Snivy until Serperior gets Contrary.
Flame Dragon
Lets be honest, the worse starters are the Johto starters. None of the pokemon are that good or look that cool. And, since I'm on the subject 1) 4th Gen 2) 3rd Gen 3) 6th Gen 4) 1st Gen 5) 5th Gen 6) 2nd Gen
