Pokemon X & Y (Post Launch)

Yeah, 1.64 mil to make a Pokemon level 100 really sucks (even more work than training a legendary at 1.25 mil, but they're worth training that much)

Luckily only 14 Pokes are in this category [only ones worth using are Breloom/Hariyama]. Illumise sucks except for its only usage to attract Hordes. The rest of them are iffy.

Sometimes I leave Pokes in daycare, but only for breeding purposes and even then, they only gain about 5 levels at the most (except if I'm trying to level up something like Magikarp that doesn't have any attack moves). I personally rather have them EV trained and just rechallenge Cafe Le Wow several times [High Roller isn't worth the money].

I'm surprised they didn't invent a post-E4 item that if held quickens the speed of Exp gain in daycares.

Currently putting together another team, with Baton Pass Mega Absol, Talonflame, and Aegislash. Any suggestions for the rest?

Why Baton Pass on Mega Absol? Scolipede is a better baton pass imo.

Hippowdon is a great wall right now, imo. It puts in work vs the top 4 megas right now. It has stealth rocks to help against Pinsir, Char Y and X, while sand stream keeps Char Y directly in line(switching into Y), as it cuts off Drought, and prevents solar beam from being a 1-turn move. not to mention that Special Def increase on hippo. Sand Stream cuts Venusaurs synthesis in half, and provides chip damage to wear it down.  It can also phaze if you need it to be. Its just really solid right now imo.

Thundurus is pretty legit too, it supports a team in many ways. It can t-wave and taunt with priority which throws wrenchs into things. It can run boltbeam as coverage(T-bolt and HP Ice),has access to knock off if you dont want to run Taunt. Idk, its one of the best mons in OU for a reason.

Whats your Aegislash and Absols sets?

Also, for Bisharp, Id run this set w/o Knock off:

-Swords Dance

-Sucker Punch

-Iron Head

-Low Kick/Pursuit.

Low Kick helps against opposing Bisharps/dark types. Pursuit can trap the Latis and other Pursuit weak mons.

Running Absol as a passer mainly because I've loved the lil guy since RSE but could never really run him competitively. Passing is just one of its many options. Being able to sweep or reflect shit with Magic Bounce makes it really versatile too, imo.

I have 2 versions of Mega Absol, the straight sweeper one with Fire Blast, and the passer w/ Fire Blast replaced with baton pass. Other 3 Attacks are Swords Dance, Sucker Punch, and Play Rough. I'm also planning on getting trained an absol with Protect, Sucker Punch, Fire Blast, & Play Rough, to stave off the one turn where it won't have its Mega Speed. It's already got the EVs and IVs, I just need to get its level up.

The Aegislash I have that's battle-ready doesn't make use of Swords Dance. Just went with King's Shield, Iron Head, Shadow Sneak, & Sacred Sword. Full HP & Atk EVs.

But that's what make shim horrific. Defend all you want in Aegis Mode until you're maxed with Atk, then sweep with priority Shadow Sneak.

Have any of you guys tried the Global Link much? I just decided to link on and am grabbing a whole bunch of items. I learned I had about 34000 Pokemiles lodged due to my Wonder Trading long time ago. The recent Balloon Popping game on the PGL offers a bunch of evolutionary items like stones, plus hold items like Metal Coats and Razor Claws/Fangs.

That's what the goal of Mega Absol is for. Swords Dance, Swords Dance, attack all I want. If something that can do damage switch in on me, Baton Pass into Aegislash and it's good to go.

I would go with low kick, but it has the same issue which causes me not to use Knock Off: transfer-only move.

ALSO. Does anyone have a male hitmonchan, hitmontop, croagunk or toxicroak with pursuit they could trade me?

That's not what makes him horrific at all. The swords dance set is incredibly mediocre, assuming you're running max HP max attack the shield is not anywhere near as bulky as it would have to be because you really  need to get to +6 before you have any chance of sweeping, due to Shadow Sneak being such a piss-weak move.

for reference,

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 230-272 (70.9 - 83.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 272-324 (83.9 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Landorus Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 320-377 (98.7 - 116.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 307-367 (94.7 - 113.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 187-222 (57.7 - 68.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

in return,

+4 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 262-309 (81.1 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+4 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 250-295 (69.8 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And some other horrendously weak stuff like a 6HKO on Mandibuzz.

All players at the high level of competitive play are using Shadow Ball because it gives Aegislash a far better role than a mediocre Shadow Sneak sweeper, letting it act as a specially defensive pivot - you bring Aegi in on something that can't do much to it (Lati@s are primary candidates for this), look at your opponent's team for something that can take Shadow Ball (Mandibuzz usually), if you find one double switch into something that beats Mandibuzz/whatever, if not leave it in and whetever comes in (stuff like Garchomp, Excadrill) will take at least half damage from a Shadow Ball. Also, if you run something that really doesn't appreciate Lati@s (Charizard-Y, for example), you can use Pursuit to  Pursuit trap them and eliminate them from the game.

The thing that boths me with Absol as a passer is its meager 65/60/60 defenses(65 hp, 60 def & sp def). Its not going to be able to set up as often as you think. Its better for Absol to be the pass recipient, as it has a great STAB Priority, as well as coverage w/ Fire blast/play rough. Id rather have as a passer. Scolipede has better defenses (60/89/69), and has speed boost, which helps Absol punch holes in teams. It gets swords dance and iron defense, which makes it a more verstiale passer. It also has base 90 attack ,and can put a dent in Deoxys D/S if it gets taunted via STAB Mega horn.  Idk how viable Scolipede is in your team/in general, but i wanna try out something with him.

I have 125,344 miles, get on my level. You get half off when using poke miles on the global link.

I can get you a non-legit(but legal) Bisharp if you want with those moves.

I do have a Hitmonchan w/ pursuit though.

Not to mention w/ Spooky Plate it becomes a decent wall breaker w/ the combo of Shadow Bal + Shadow Sneak. Sacred Sword rounds out its coverage and Kings Shield/Pursuit in the fourth slot.

Im digging the Sub/Toxic set right now, I wanna put one on my team.

I'd only want that Bisharp if it could somehow lead me to get a legit IV bred Bisharp with those moves.

I prefer to have the end result be legit, the components that got it there... meh, whatever works.

Would you trade the Hitmonchan for something? (i gots a Brave or Adamant Honedge with perfect HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD IVs.)

This is true, also becomes a really good spinblocker with Balloon.

Subtoxic is becoming massive atm thanks to this thing - http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/masterclass-masterpiece.3503670/, I've tried it a couple of times and it's pretty decent but I always miss having Sneak/Pursuit.

I have a random question. Is Toxic a good move to put on Aeigislash? I usually see mostly offensive ones, so I've been wondering how it would work out.

Something like Toxic, King's Shield/Protect, Shadow Sneak and... something else not sure. Maybe SD to stay in Shield form longer.

If you run Toxic, run Toxic/KS/Sub/Shadow Ball. As Masterclass said in the link I posted just above, it's only really worth using if your team can't exploit the holes left in the opponents team by Pursuit Aegislash/offensive Shadow Ball Aegislash.

Oh. I um. Did not noticed that.....

Okay thanks. :) But why not Shadow Sneak or Pursuit? I'd think catching them on a switch, or priority would be better. Especially for getting the last bit of damage needed after Toxic has whittled them down.

Keep in mind I am the noobiest of noobs. Just really like Pokemon battles.

I am in the safari hunting Lucky Eggs with a fainted pokemon with Compoundeyes in first place, and a Frisk pokemon with Thief in second place.

I will be wonder trading a bunch of Buneary with Lucky Egg this easter. I'll post here before doing so, in case someone wants to try and get one.

So since the whole YCM Pokémon tournament is over, I thought I'd just post my team and get some feedback:

Skarmory

Nature: Impish

Ability: Sturdy

Item: Leftovers

EV: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SpD (or something along those lines)

Stealth Rock

Roost

Whirlwind

Brave Bird (<<may replace with Taunt)

Gliscor

Nature: Impish

Ability: Poison Heal

Item: Toxic Orb

EV: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Speed

Protect

Substitute

Toxic

Earthquake

Greninja

Nature: Timid

Ability: Protean

Item: Life Orb

EV: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Speed

Ice Beam

Hydro Pump

Dark Pulse

U-Turn

Mega Charizard Y

Nature: Timid

Ability: Blaze / Drought

Item: Charizardite Y

EV: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Speed

Solar Beam

Earthquake

Focus Blast

Fire Blast

Excadrill

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Mold Breaker

Item: Assault Vest

EV: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Speed

Rapid Spin

Earthquake

Rock Slide

Shadow Claw

Trevenant

Nature: Careful

Ability: Harvest

Item: Lum Berry

EV: 252 HP / 80 SpD / 176 Speed

Wood Hammer

Shadow Claw

Will-O-Wisp

Rest

So far everything's been fairly useful. Skarmory hasn't done anything besides lay down Stealth Rocks, so I may consider switching it up to something that can pull it off better without adding more weaknesses to Fire & Electric types (maybe Hippowdon?) Or just switch out Brave Bird, which did next to nothing, for something like Taunt.

Gliscor has consistently been the most enjoyable mon to use, simply because it annoys the opponent to no end that they can't kill it. Protect + Sub + Toxic is just the most enjoyable combination. Plus Earthquake is no joke if they try to switch in a Steel or Poison type to counter it. Greninja is pretty frail, but it has a real knack to end with enough HP to survive 2 or 3 more attacks with Life Orb, which usually means it gets a kill or two or it does enough damage to make setting up a sweep a whole lot easier.

Mega Charizard Y is just solid all around. There's a reason it's one of the best mons in the game. Excadrill has been solid. Being purely made for attacking, really, it's surprised me in how well it can OHKO and outrun everything else. Plus the coverage it has is nice. Rapid Spin rounds out its attacks and gives a solid move to make if the opponent's on their heels. Oh, also, Assault Vest saved me multiple times. The added defenses should not be underestimated.

Trevenant has done its job really well when it comes in. Usually to take a hit and try to do some damage. I've never actually had to use Rest in battle, so I may switch it out. It was mainly used in the tournament to deal with Water-types. (mainly Azumarill) So I might decide to use something like Thunderus instead (though the two Thunderus I've got have AWFUL IVs, so I might avoid it)

Thoughts?

I just completed the National Dex today, for the first time in my life.

Only took like 248 hours and then some, but I did it.

Thought there was supposed to be a certificate or something for doing it, but Sycamore just gave me the Shiny Charm. Which still is an awesome awesome prize, so it's all good.

I couldn't find Mew, Keldeo or Genesect, though. Does anyone have any they'd be willing to trade me and then trade right back? I'm just looking for the data.
