Pokemon X & Y (Post Launch)

Well, this gen made it easier and more accessible since it took all the mechanics from previous generations and then added some simplifiers, like the Destiny Knot passing down 5 IVs instead of 3, and Hidden Abilities/egg moves passing more easily.

And then the O-Powers making hatching faster.

Its for this reason that I've gotten 28 perfects already. Once you get the hang of it, its VERY easy. Also, as you get perfects it gets even easier since you can use them to pass down IVs.

Exactly. I adore the new mechanics in Gen VI. After all, it only took me like...a long time, still, to make my perfect Eeveelutions, several being different natures. But compared to previous Gens where you could spend a month on a single Pokemon with no progress, it's much easier, more reliable, and it encourages you to use as many different Pokemon as you want. After my Eeveelutions, I started doing the same for dragon Pokemon.

And Friend Safari having 2+ perfect IVs is a huge bonus.

The Eevees are a pain since only 1/8 are female. One of the things that makes breeding so easy is being able to keep upgrading the parents with better IVs. You can't do that if your not getting females. Thats also why my getting a perfect Infernape in 1 go is so lucky, because not only was it a 1% chance it let me by pass the pain of breeding a 1/8 egg group pokemon.

IMO the reason this is so easy is largely due to the Friend Safari. If it wasn't for that getting the perfects to start things off would be very annoying.

Well considering all you need is 1 Eevee with decent IVs and you're pretty much good to go, it's not that bad.

When your going from zero you need like 3 perfects to start the chain going. Once you the perfect Eevee you can breed with other pokemon in the field group and go from there, but actually starting off is the hardest part and the Friend Safari lets you do that.

I'll tell you what the pain is: Lucario.

You have to get a female in the first place (Riolu), evolve it via Happiness, then breed for a better IV Female, evolve it, and then breed even more. This takes even longer for egg moves/nature. Truely time consuming.

You get the same problem with Togepi. But at least the babies, when caught, give you 3 perfects always. That does help a fair bit.

I have some friends just starting the games, and when I give them something to help them, as they have nothing I can care for yet, I ask them for caught baby pokemon. That way I have variety of perfect IVs. Still got nothing of them better than the x/31/31/31/31/x Togepi and 31/x/x/31/31/31 Smoochum I caught myself.

I have also been leveling Friendship O-Power, to go with this.

Using a fainted Skitty and a Trace Gardevoir, I easily found a female Rain Dish Wartortle. Will breed it with the modest Squirtle with Pulse egg moves I got from an YCMer to get some babies that will be mostly for wonder trade, but that I will keep at least one, like I did with timid Simple Woobat with Calm Mind and Stored Power.

CoroCoro have mentioned the next film short is to feature Manaphy, Darkrai, Victini and Jirachi. The magazine is running a poll of these 4 Pokemon with the winner announced in the April issue (to be released 15th March). This Pokemon will then be distributed. Personally I would want Manaphy and Darkrai (until I known mine is legit)

Am still annoyed that the US and Japan have both gotten distribution events and Europe still only has Torchic.

Final few days for Torchic with Blazikenite , so don't forget to get it.

I would choose Victini, just because I don't have it. And I would like to have the chance to nickname mine. The name would be Nike.

I'm slowly getting every non legendary in GTS I need for the national dex, even if I could transfer everything from White2 when Pokébank is finally available. I still need Bouffalant, Rattata family, and don't remember what else. I don't know if counting Phione as non legendary.

Recently someone in a facebook group asked for a Cleffa and Happiny in regular pokeballs, and offered Iron Fist jolly Chimchar with Fire Punch and Thunder Punch, and 4 perfect IV Darumaka. I got both.

Well I managed to get all Sinnoh Starters, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Snivy. Unfortunately they don't have their HAs, but I am willing to trade away them once I breed them. I am looking for Prankster Cottonee and/or Water Absorb Frillish. Also while browsing the KYM gallery for Pokemon, I found this. Getting tired of your shenanigans Pokemon. -.-

I checked the calendar for this year; Feb 29, 2014 doesn't exist (either it's a typo on the date or Pokebank won't be available for the USA and everywhere else that doesn't have it now). Assuming it's the latter though.

Hopefully it gets released soon. Playing White 2 lately, and there's a couple Pokes that I'd like to transfer over to XY. (I suppose I can go finish EV/level training those Pokes until it's ready; even if training is a pain. Just hope that the 30-day free trial will still hold for the affected areas (since we can't do it now b/c of this). Might as well go finish the separate Kalos dexes as much as I can, now that my main team is trained up and I beat the Elite Four a few times already.

Putting the rant about Pokebank aside, still need to get the Johto starters, Treecko, Sinnoh ones (minus Piplup) and Unova (minus Snivy). All of them have their standard abilities, but that's alright with me. (Might as well keep looking through GTS or hope I get lucky at Wonder Trading). Trying to breed Gibles so that they learn Outrage as a starting move [I have a Druddigon from Victory Road that I need to level up to 63 (right now, it's 60); otherwise I have to either raise other compatible Dragon pokes to the level they learn it (at the moment, only got first stages of said Pokes and at levels below 20)].

Also playing through the Battle Institute in Lumiose (anyone else here done it yet?), ranges from moderately easy to pain in the neck. Sometimes I get the feeling the AI is using competitive movesets or Choice items (since I did some calculations into speed and damage; given the stats of my Pokes, I should've been able to outrun and strike the opponent first on a normal basis, among other things). I'll give an example of what I mean (the Pokes I'm using for this are fully EV trained and have respectable speed and other stats).

Earlier, I was fighting a Manectric (base spd 105) with Lucario in Mega Evolved form (base spd 112; 252 EVs and a + Spd nature). Assuming that the opponent's Poke has no EVs (don't think they have any), I should've been to outrun it. But said Manectric outsped and killed Lucario with Overheat (though it kept using it repeatedly throughout the time it was in battle, so suspecting it had either Specs or Scarf). I'll assume that it's the latter, since factoring in speed (even if it were using a + nature and full EVs); Mane shouldn't have been able to outrun me, unless the stats on Bulbapedia are wrong. And Veteran class AIs always use a full team of legendaries from the stuff that is allowed.

Think I said too much in this part, so I'll end it here.

---

For the event if it ever occurs, wouldn't really mind (since I don't have any of them, given I didn't get a DS until last month so missed out on the events). But everything but Manaphy would be acceptable for me (Manaphy is alright, though the others take priority on my list)

I saw that on FB yesterday, I laughed though.

On the other hand, I still need to get to MAX style, otherwise I can't get the final O-Power.

Took me a while to get that lol. I can never remember what year is a leap year.

I'm still working on getting Jirachi from Channel and cloning it, if is tradable to XD I might have a solution. (Since I accidentally cloned in XD before)

In other words, Pokebank is on an indefinite hiatus.

While it might offer some time to get everything I want in W2 before bringing it over (got most of the stuff I want, just have to finish training them and find all the moves I want them to have), I might wonder why I even bought White 2 to transfer stuff if I knew that Pokebank wouldn't be ready for a while (if it ever gets fixed). I have some stuff on XD that I'd like to bring over, but since I don't have RSE/GBA link cable [since they're over a decade old now] or a Gen 4 game to transfer onto even if I did, can't bring them over. (Though, not too bothered about it)

@Yin: I'm looking at the page on Bulbapedia; think you have to go through RS first (doesn't mention if you need to beat Elite 4, probably do), then trade it to XD.
