Pokemon X & Y (Post Launch)

The best thing to do would be to practice on Pokemon Showdown honestly.

It might take some time to fine tune your team into something you like, and is actually good, but it's worth it. In the short time I've played on there, I've become far better at prediction and actual teambuilding than I ever was before.

I'm in the same boat as Caeda, here.

I only knew a little I'd read on smogon an bits an pieces of other stuff, but over time and practice, I feel like I'm actually getting the hang of it. I'm fairly confident in my team as-is, though I'm constantly trying to fine tune it, if even a little bit.

It's all just learning through doing, really. Smogon can help, but with X/Y being largely theory for a good number of Pokemon, or at least was, you kids have to feel your way through it.

About to get my copy for Christmas, so I'll be posting my code soon.

Also, I have a question. Do both people have to add each other's code to get their safari or can I just add a bunch of codes without them adding me?

Both players have to add each other's code, but the 3rd pokemon won't appear until after you beat the eilte 4.

I'm new to competitive Pokemon as well. I have no time for breeding, so Pokemon Showdown for now is what I'm going with until I get more time. So, anyone who would like to have a noob match, hit me up.

A warning: I work a lot, and when I'm not working I have a lot of stuff to do, so it's rare I'll actually be able to reply right away. Just giving the option.

Oh, and I work at 7 A.M. tomorrow so I won't be able to tonight at all.

Bank is now live in Japan. I've included it here, because it's not really a proper separate game. Also included any of changes Serebii has found to Pokemon. This is on top of what they've already found.

From Serebii

You get shown details of the 30 day trial pass when you log in, and it prompts you to extend it by subscribing
Poké Transporter is 218 blocks / 27.25MB
Poké Transporter only gives you the option to transfer Box 1. You get 100 PokéMiles or 10 Battle Points for transferring a box
You can transfer partial boxes
Hiker gives you all four drives, not splitting across the versions. According to the hiker, Genesect is "rumoured" to have been found in Glittering Cave. The five meteors are irrelevant to the specific form of Deoxys. They aren't red herrings or anything. Each meteor will cycle through: Normal > Attack > Defense > Speed and loop round
Feebas has a second ability: Oblivious
Shiny Charm is the reward for completing the National Pokédex

If you transfer a Pokémon from Generation III or IV into the game, and it isn't nicknamed, Pokémon Bank will correct its name so it's not all in caps

Entei does learn Sacred Fire through the move relearner

You need to move Pokémon into Box 1 in the Gen V game to be traded. There's no changing it as far as I can tell. It just booted me out because Box 1 was empty

Magma Storm's power is reduced.

Just done a quick loop around Kalos looking for Lati@site. No joy, must be event only.

Serebii freebie in a Luxury Ball

Hold Back - 40 Power, 100 Acc. (Same essentially as False Swipe).

Serebii has found download hampered by the numbers of people downloading/buying at the same time. So Friday is a day I'd advise not to get the game.

Bank being live means we will slowly be getting the old pokemon. I've already gotten a Feebas via wonder trade so I'm very happy. Side from that I think I just really want starters.

So yea, after some 60 wonder trades I got

3 IV, Timid Gastly (also female)

2 IV, Jolly Dragonair with Marvel Scale (also female)

3 IV, Calm Feebas

5 IV, Careful Larvitar with Dragon Dance and Stealth Rock (also female)

2 IV, Jolly Aipom (also female)

1 IV, Modester Fennekin with Magician (also female)

4 IV, Timid Noibat (also female)

3 IV, Timid Froakie with Protean (I got a LOT of Frokies in wonder trade)

Very good group if I do say so myself.

On a crusade to get all of the other Starters. (traded my Naughty-Natured Mewtwo in order to get Cyndaquil.  A decision I have yet to regret)

So far, all I need are Chikorita, Treecko, Mudkip, Turtwig, Snivy and Tepig.  In the meantime, I'm breeding an assload of Adamant Oshawott (why Adamant? 'cuz IDGAF) and just (Wonder) Trading those off.

I might decide to actually transfer Pokemon from Diamond....well all the ones not in XY (teams from previous games excluded). Might take sometime to get ready for Bank. Still need to figure which 3Ds to install on, might go for the one with X on given it has the most Pokemon in boxes.

Easiest way to get the rest would be to use the GTS and trade away babies of the ones you do have for other starters. I was able to to get a Mudkip simply by trading a Buneary. Got it in a few hours too so it shouldn't take that long.

This is from Serebii;

Bad news guys:

Nintendo have announced that they have temporarily removed Pokémon Bank from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. This is following the massive influx of users on both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U coming on Christmas, plus the addition of Pokémon Bank causing the Nintendo Network to drive to a halt. This means users cannot download it anymore and currently cannot access the features of the game.. It is currently unclear when Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will return, or if the western release is delayed. They have made it clear that the 30 day trial for previously registered users will restart when it returns.
Pokémon Bank is now listed with a release of TBD (To Be Decided) on the North American and European eShops. We'll bring details on this as soon as we can

Came from work and spent half an hour in GTS. Got all basic starters from gen 2 to 4. Didn't search for Gen 5 because I expected to transfer mine from White 2, but I may lack the patience.

Gave away mostly stuff people didn't want to take the time to evolve/breed, like Bonsly, Wynaut, Exploud.

Only notable loss was one spare Moltres. But it was adamant anyways.

So THAT'S why it disappeared from the shop.

Well, this gives us more time to fetch some gen 2-5 starters and use them as bars of gold on the GTS

I could dig up my GBA Gameshark, turn on Sapphire, and just Master Ball a bunch of Totodiles.
And, you know, clog the GTS with them because I'll want a Yveltal for each and every one of them.

I've already gotten a Yveltal and Zygarde with some Mudkips so... I guess I can't complain...

I've been WTing Porygons and Cofagrigus today. Breeding a buncha Mudkips now because apparently they're the best starter.
