So, I did some meth math on Crawdaunt using Knock Off instead of Crunch as its Dark move, and it's pretty interesting. For those who don't know, Knock Off got a buff up to 65 base power from 20. In addition to this, it also gained an effect that when the opposing Pokemon has a held item when it's used, it deals 1.5x damage.

So, when used the first time, it will be a base 97.5 power move. Boosted by Crawdaunt's Adaptability STAB, it's a 195 power move. In comparison, Crunch with the 2x boost from Adaptability STAB is only 160 power.

Even after the 1.5x boost on Knock Off is removed because the target now no longer has an item, it still becomes 130 damage, meaning in two attacks it deals 325 damage total, while two Crunches deal 320. Knock Off also removes the opponent's item, while the only benefit to Crunch is 20% chance of lowering Defense.

If you end up having to do 3 Knock-Offs on the same opponent for some reason, it begins to dip down obviously. 3 attacks is 455 with KO, Crunch at 480. It also doesn't gain the bonus against Pokemon using a Mega Stone. Still, I think it's a superior choice for Crawdaunt who can hit hard.

Basic Arithmetic is awesome when it's used correctly, and for some reason makes something like pokemon seem so much more complex, yet satisfying when you can use it to your benefit. Makes me want to use more math in my pokemon, the most I've done is calculate Mega Gardevoir's use of Hyper beam to cause OHKO, but it's not exactly stable as of yet and I haven't factored too many other things like Weakness and resistance, however it does help against Ghosts.

What disappoints me actually is that Pokemon follows a linear formula of multiplication as opposed to something like in Dungeons and Dragons where you add numbers when there's another multiplication in place instead of multiplying the already multiplied number. In simply number terms, instead of two doubles making x4, it makes it x3. When you double the number, you're only adding another of itself to it. Then when you double again you're just adding another of itself to the original number.

2+2=4. You just doubled the number. Then when it tries to double again it looks to the original number and adds another of it. 2+2+2=6. As opposed to 2x2x2=8 like Pokemon does.

Don't know what this is called, though. Got C's in Math and Algebra.

That does go ahead and make the ranges within different attacks very different, which sadly encourages favoritism in attacks in comparison to variety, but that's how most games are, At least it's not as bad as in Yugioh in terms of calculations

Also....I can't get the pokemon to stand in a group, I'm guessing that's layering that I have not mastered yet.....or something as simple as Cutting off the white border...not sure.

I guess that does cause trouble when it comes to halving and depending on how they did math for vs def, but in terms of stuff like super effectiveness it woulld still read off of the new number, but 4x weakness wouldn't be as detrimental.

You just wouldn't get numbers like 50x1.5x1.5x1.3=146.25, it would be 50+25 (ie 50x,5)+25+15 (ie 50x,3)=115
