Stan Alda
Considering Flute can summon any Dragon from your hand, I see potential Ruler and Dragunity shenanigans. Far from meta-worthy (two-card combos are evidently too slow for you aristocrats), but 2 free Dragons with a built-in low-level protection effect can't be all bad, right? Also, the thread title sounds like an excellent fantasy movie title.
Sora1499
Weeeell... Flute would have been ok as an OTK enabler for stuff like Hieratic and BEWD if it didn't have that last clause. The problem is that Lord of D. is underwhelming on its own: a 1200 vanilla that dies to damn near everything. It's only good when you're already winning. Furthermore, you can only run 3 Lords in your whole deck of 40+ cards, making Flute inconsistent.

It's not much compared to other protective effects, but it sure as heck isn't a vanilla.

What I mean is that it may as well be a vanilla unless you already have a big dragon on the field and therefore are most likely winning.
Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
This is the card you give her when she wants the D. In all seriousness, it's really not viable anymore. It used to be an okay strategy, but now it's just not worth the deck dedication at all.
Cute Rotten Yoshika
hell yea dis go hard as hell kaiba i will summon big dragons team d. all day and week month year and century i love big ATK F L U T E S Q U A D no but seriously, eating up the hand for an overall -1 that requires you to have a relatively useless monster on the field is bad and was always pretty bad. it was just kaiba cool so people tried it anyways. Therrion
Would need an actually useful Level 4 "Lord of D." remake whose name is only treated as such while on the field/in the Graveyard. 17-1900 ATK would do it fine, then this effect would just be icing on the beater. Sleepy
It'd need protection like Lady of D.'s Then Flute would need to be more generic, while keeping an advantage of having Lord of D. out. Something along the lines of: Activate 1 or both effects in any order: *Add 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your Graveyard to your hand. *You must control "Lord of D." to activate and resolve this effect; Special Summon 2 Dragon-Type monsters from your hand. Then again, it's swarming. It's brute force in it's purest. It can bring out REDMD. Why would you try to improve something that could be deadly if consistent enough? Miror B
>Summon Lord of D. >Summon Dragon Ruler, banishing 2 other Rulers >Both Rulers add copies of themselves >Use Flute, summon both newly added Dragons >Xyz Summon Lucky Straight

For me, the focus was less on Lord of D. and more on Flute. But if it weren't tied to Lord of D., Flute would be broken. You can see the dilemma.
