Genesis TCG

[Archelaus]

I always wanted to create my own TCG and this one is developed when I was still a kid.

There are four kinds of cards:

Heroes:
All Heroes have Life that are represented by Heart Symbols on the upper right of the card. They also have 3 Stats which determine the result of a contest: Strength, Wisdom and Speed. Also, all of them have Crest Counters that are usually the same kind as their Race, they are used for effect activations or costs. You can only activate and apply the effects of Active Heroes and not those of the Passive Heroes unless specifically written on the card. You can only have 1 Exalted Hero of a Race in one faction, and 2 Exalted Heroes in a faction at a time. They are divided into 5 Races:

*Nether Lands
Nether Spirits, Netherdrakes and Netherial Entities are vicious underworld beasts that drain Stats and deplete Life Force. Elements commonly attributed to them are Darkness, Poison and Fire. Most of their Abilities come from corrupting/weakening the rivals or by killing themselves off to Defeat their enemies. They are colored Black.

*Cyberworld
*Cybermasters, Cyberlords and Cybernetic Anomalies are manipulative and wise. They can control your moves and cancel out Spells. Elements commonly attributed to them are Water and Machinery. Their Abilities are made to counter your rival’s moves and diversify your options in a Battle. They are colored Blue.

*Forests
*Forest Sculptors, Forest Giants and Forestbound Keepers are kind of different. Sculptors have stealth and can revive fallen Heroes. Giants on the other hand are large and have high vitality, making them too hard to kill. Elements commonly attributed to them are Earth and Plants. Constant revival becomes a running trend with Forest Heroes and also, they have diverse effects that are varied renditions of other Races. They are colored Green.

*Sky City
*Sky Walkers, Skylords and Skyward Guardians are draconic beings of the sky who can change forms and stats. They also have great field presence. Elements commonly attributed to them are Wind and Weather. Crest Counter manipulation seem to favor them and so does Contests for they can easily manage stats. They are colored white.

*Other World
*Worldly Beings, Worldly Monsters and World-weary Forces are not really from our own dimension. Some of them were banished, while some are the guardians of the balance in and out of the Astral Planes. Currently, they possess damage manipulation, future sight and even instant victory. Elements attributed to them are Supernatural and dimensional. They are colored gray.

Spells
Most Spells have costs which are to be paid by Crest Counters. They can only be played during the Pre-Contest Stage. You can only activate a Spell with the Same Race as your Active Hero. (ex. Nether Lands Spells = Nether Spirits/Netherdrakes) After activation return them to the bottom of your Spell Deck. There is a max of 4 cards in your hand so you need to return cards to the bottom of your Deck until you have 4 left if you have 5 or more cards during the End Stage. You can only pay Crest Counters on Active Heroes, not Passive Ones. Discarded Spells don’t return to the bottom of your Spell Deck and remain in the Discard Pile.

Arena Spells are quite different as they serve as the battle arenas and remain face-up until they are removed by an effect or when a new Arena is activated. A Turn Player can only play 1 Arena Spell per turn. When a new Arena Spell is Activated, return the previous one to the bottom of the Spell Deck of its owner.

Equipment
They are equipped before the Spell Decks and Event Decks are shuffled. They usually have restrictions on whom to equip onto and they usually increase stats.

Equipment with Living Matter become Heroes when the Hero they're equipped to is Defeated. They then occupy the space left by the Hero; that means they count toward the 5-Hero space limit and because they are also Heroes, you can only have 1 copy of a Living Matter Equipment per Battle.

Events
Kind of like Traps except you activate them from your Event Pile when a specific Event Condition on the card happens. You can only activate an Event with the Same Race as your Active Hero. (ex. Nether Lands Events = Nether Spirits/Netherdrakes) One specific Event can only be used once per Duel so you can only have one copy of an Event in a Battle. You can activate them at any time during Duel but only if the Conditions are met.

Decks:
Faction - Your group of Heroes. Not really a Deck but both players should have exactly 1/3/5 Heroes to play. Only 1 copy of a specific Hero is allowed. You can only have 1 Exalted Hero of a Race in one faction
Spell Deck - Deck of Spells should have a minimum of 25 cards with only up to 2 copies of a card.
Event Pile - Exactly 10 cards in which you can always see them and are not drawn.

How to Start a Game

[Preparation Stage]

Both players choose 1 Hero from your Heroes to be your Active Hero by placing it face-up on the board while placing the other Heroes on the horizontal space behind it. The non-Active Heroes (the Passive Heroes) are placed side by side and form a horizontal line behind the Active Hero .

Place Spell Deck beside your Active Hero .

Place your Event Pile beside your Spell Deck.

[Equipment Phase]

Equip Equipment Cards to your Heroes. Only 1 piece of equipment per Hero. (Unless stated in the card)

[Game Begins]

Both players draw 4 cards from their Spell Decks. Determine who goes first.

[Draw Stage]

Draw 1 card from your Spell Deck.

[Pre-Contest Stage]

Both players activate Spells or Hero Abilities during this stage.

Breakdown of Pre-Contest Stage Priority:

1. Turn player is the first to activate a Spell/Hero Ability.
1a. Rival can Cancel that spell if he/she has a Hero/Spell/Event that can Cancel it.
1b. Turn Player can also Cancel that Hero/Spell/Event with his/her own cards.
*This goes on until a Hero/Spell/Event is Cancelled.

2. Rival activates his/her Spell/Hero Ability after the resolution of the first.
2a. Turn Player can Cancel that spell if he/she has a Hero/Spell/Event that can Cancel it.
2b. Rival can also Cancel that Hero/Spell/Event with his/her own cards.
*This goes on until a Hero/Spell/Event is Cancelled.

3 and 4 onwards are the same with 1 and 2. Just follow the same pattern.

A Player can also skip on playing a spell, if so, the other player can keep on activating Spells consecutively until the other player decides to play his/her own.


[Contest Stage]

Turn player selects 1 Stat (Strength, Wisdom or Speed). The Hero with the higher selected stat wins the contest. The loser takes Health Damage equal to the Difference of the winner's Stat to the stat of the loser.

[Post-Contest Stage]

Heroes with 0 Health are sent to the Discard Pile along with their Equipment.

If a player has no active Hero, he/she selects 1 Passive Hero and places it on the Active Hero Zone. If he/she cannot, he/she loses.

[End Stage]

Activate any effect that would activate in this stage. A player with 5 or more cards in their hand during this stage must return cards to the bottom of the Deck until they have 4 cards.

X Alliance: The Hero with X Alliance can cast X Spells and pay their own Crest Counters instead of the written Crest Counter cost if the cost is a Crest Counter cost. (Number of Crest Counters to be paid remain the same.)

Airborne – A card with Airborne can Target Heroes with Flight (X)

Cancel - The Target Spell/Effect is negated. The one who played the Spell/Effect still pays the cost. Send the Spell to the bottom of the Spell Deck.

Coexist [X] – Arena Spells with Coexist [X] can be cast even if Arena Spell X is on the field. X can be any specific land written in Coexist [“X”] format or Coexist [X] format for general lands. Likewise, the activation of Arena Spells with Coexist does not discard the current Arena Spell X or vice-versa. If your rival casts his/her own Arena Spell and your Arena Spell X is discarded, discard your Arena Spell with Coexist. If your Arena Spell without Coexist is discarded, discard your Arena Spell that is Coexisting with it. Also, for example, if there are already two Arena Spells on the field, and you cast another Arena Spell that Coexists with one of the active Arena Spells but not with the other one, discard the old Arena Spell with Coexist.

Convert X to X - Exchanges the values of your Stats.

Drain X - Drains the particular stat or Health from the opposing Active Hero. Your rival loses that amount of Stats/Health and your Active Hero gains the same amount. All Drain effects last until the Post-Contest Stage where the Stats drained go back to the original owner.

Detach - Place the Equipment Card to the Discard Pile.

Feedback - Each time the Hero with Feedback is Targeted by an effect of a card your rival owns, the same effect is applied to the opposing Active Hero.

Flight (X) - A Hero with Flight (X) cannot be Targeted by Abilities that do not have Airborne or Heroes that do not have Flight, and does not take damage from losing contests against Heroes without Flight. During the owner of the Hero with Flight (X)’s next Draw Phase [Before that player draws], that player has the choice to remove Sky Crest Counters from Heroes that players owns until he/she removes X number of Sky Crest Counters. If that player does not, that Hero loses Flight (X) and takes X Damage from falling. When a Hero loses Flight (X), that Hero can pay X Sky Crest Counters to gain it back.

GT Spells - GT Spells are treated as Neutral Spells except that they are affected by certain other cards.

Living Matter (Race/Crest Counters: X/X❤/Strength: X/Wisdom: X/Speed: X): An Equipment card with Living Matter becomes a Hero Card and takes the Defeated Hero's spot on the field when the Hero it's equipped to is Defeated. Its Stats are the ones listed after "Living Matter" and it can then use or apply its Living Matter Ability once it is a Hero Card.

Mind Control - You select the Stat Contest during your rival's turn.

Mind Block - Your rival cannot activate Spells, Hero Abilities, Event Cards and Equipment Abilities during your rival’s turn when this is activated/rival’s next turn.

Mixed Faction - a Faction containing 2 or more Races

Orbit X - Shuffle X cards from your hand to your Spell Deck and draw the same number of cards shuffled by this ability. If you, for example, Orbit 5 when you only have 4 cards in your hand, shuffle the four cards in your hand to your Deck and draw 4 cards. That Orbit 5 is treated as Orbit 4 instead.

Purge all Negative effects - Remove an attached effect like "-2 Speed", "is Defeated when a Spell is Activated", etc.

Purge all Negative/Positive Stat-Related effects - Self explanatory.

Purge all Positive effects - Removes an attached effect like "do not take Health damage from losing a contest", "+2 to all stats", etc.

Purge all Stat-Related effects - Removes only stat-related effects like "+1 Speed", "-2 Strength", Convert Effects etc.

Recycle - A card that has Recycle can be discarded instead of returned to the bottom of the Spell Deck to draw 1 card, after you pay the Recycle Cost.

Revive - Return 1 Defeated Hero to the field. Base Crest Counters are also returned.

Seeker Sight - Discard the top card of your Spell Deck, then you can activate that Spell's Ability, without paying the cost, at any time during the Pre-Contest Stage / Post-Contest Stage of the turn Seeker Sight is activated.

Shroud – Target Hero is treated as Shrouded and gains its Abilities with the condition: This Hero is Shrouded. A Hero can only be Shrouded once per turn. At the end of the turn, the Hero is not treated as Shrouded anymore and thus loses its abilities requiring Shroud.

Stealth X - Your rival cannot select the selected Stat Contest during his/her next turn.

Slaughter X - A Hero with Slaughter can pay the Cost to inflict X damage to opposing Active Hero when Defeated..[/spoiler]

The Story

[Base Set]
The world of Imperia is revealed where there were four distinct Civilizations: Nether Lands, Sky Cities, Forests and the Cyberworld. Each of them possessed an element from Fire, Air, Earth and Water respectively, and they lived bordered off from each other. The times then were relatively peaceful and there were no major wars.

[Reign of the Envoys]
The Envoys of Fire, Air, Earth and Water were awakened after the Exalted Ritual in the Altars. It is also revealed that there were beings that weren’t assigned to one of the four civilizations –the Neutral Heroes. It is also apparent that a band of thieves masqueraded themselves as the Envoys to extort money from Imperia’s foolish residents –the Fake Envoys. Together, Master Ape and the Sea King temporarily made a pact to defeat the Envoys and they did. However, Master Ape died in the bout but peace was recovered in Imperia. It is also known that the Sea King obtained something from the battle with the Envoys but no one really knows what the King is planning.

[Unveiling of a New Heart]
The story this chapter focuses on the Silent Knight and the arrival of the Sky Emperor. As the Silent Knight is loyal to the Emperor, he is ordered to purge the land of the Emperor’s enemies. This set tells of the Silent Knight’s actions and decisions regarding this. It also introduces different tribes within each Civilization –the Serpentines, Greenland, Living Wood, and the Huntresses.

[Fallback of Ancient Forces]
As the spies of each of the Civilization leaders discovered each Civilizations prized artifacts, an ancient magic was unleashed from their discovery. The seven ancient wonders (or their creators) from another dimension (Earth) were summoned to Imperia’s plane of existence and manifested there as sentient beings. In order to stop their invasion of Imperia, Matchless, the leader of the Fake Envoys, defeated them with his might in exchange for a handsome price. He was almost killed in the envounter but he managed to return the forces back to Earth by using the powers of the Fake Envoys that involved manipulating space and time. He lost most of his power in this encounter. After the presence of the ancient forces, equipment within the land were somehoe transforming into sentient beings.

[Breaking the Seal! Awaken, the Fifth Kind!]
The story here revolves on someone breaking the seal that protects our world from the fifth civilization—the Other World. Dimensional beings that are highly more advanced that those from Imperia. The opening of the seal also revealed the weakened villains. The breaking of the seal also woke Porsantos, the Gleeful Deathwish, from his slumber and was bent on destroying Imperia before devouring other dimensions. The Higher beings began stopping Porsantos as they were the guardians of the dimension where Imperia is located and they granted the Silent Knight, after he almost sacrificed himself to stop Porsantos, the power to defeat Porsantos. Continuing from before, the sentient equipment now attracted the attention of the weapon gods.

Current Archetypes:

Envoys - Exalted Heroes that gives each other their Abilities but require different colored Crest Counters to use them which they also provide.

Fake Envoys - Heroes that masquerade as Envoys but are actually a band of thieves lead by Matchless who gains all of their abilities and uses spells that deceive their rivals.

Serpentine - Heroes that are monstrously powerful during your turn if you still control a lot of them but are incredibly fragile during your rival's turn. Also, they are able to cast powerful kill spells.

Apes - Led by the Ape Lord, it focuses on destroying Crest Counters, Arena Spells, and buffing up each other's Strength. Ape Lord also gains the other Ape's Abilities.

Greenland - Forest Heroes that only gain their powerful abilities after they're Defeated and then revived. They're heavily supported, and they are able to do a lot of various abilities like Purging, Reviving, and etc that allows them to be played in different ways.

Spies - Heroes that divulge the Ability trends of the Hero Tribes they're infiltrating and also use cards that manipulate and destroy the rival.

Huntress - Sky Heroes that effectively snipes their rivals when they change the Active Heroes. They can also control the rival's Active Heroes making them succumb to their arrow spells and abilities.

Living Wood - Forest Heroes that relies on their unwavering Speed and their ultimate weapon, Arrayn, the Living Wood, to take care of its enemies.

Seven Ancient Wonders - Not really an Archetype but their a collective group of Heroes that represent the Seven Wonders of the Old World.

Armaments - Equipment based Heroes that utilize the Living Matter ability.

Silent Knights - A group of Heroes that focus on the Silent Knight that has a lot of forms. Experts in Purging and Converting.

Higher Beings - Other World Heroes that possesses the powers of the Desire Spells. They can utilize Other WOrld abilities to their full extent.

Greek Alphabet Lords - Non-exalted Cyberlords that are powerful in manipulating spells and causing disruption to their rivals.

Aramaic Adaptive Lords - Non-exalted Cyberlords that are so advanced in adapting that they can be in the perfect form when fighting an enemy.

Five Blades - The Five Blades in Genesis Mythology. They are all specifically made to destroy one of the civilizations each.

Weakened - The Five Deities that have been banished after they almost laid waste to the Five Archetypes in the Genesis Mythos. They manipulate Events to do their bidding.

Z-Freeze - They are frozen versions of Heroes that succumed to the coming of Elcici, the Frost God. Using Frost Counters, they can deal a lot of pain to their enemies like Purging, losing Abilities permanently, etc.

Darker – They are the loyal corrupted minions of The Dark Lord when he took over the mainland Imperia. They are highly dangerous in the dark and when they’re Shrouded, they can potentially increase their power, inflict damage or serve as intel for The Dark Lord.

Polluted Swampterrors – After The Dark Lord invaded mainland Imperia, the swamps in that region were corrupted to a point that its denizens were mutated. These mutations are highly destructive and their power comes from where they were mutated. Be it in already corrupted terrain, the waters or the trees.

Cult Brethren – After The Dark Lord’s invasion and most of Imperia’s corruption, citizens in the Sky Cities began losing their faith to their god, the Wind Sun, and turned to the dark arts of the cult. This cult embraced the upcoming apocalypse and celebrated in bloodbath wherein they were promised knowledge by The Dark Lord himself. Orbit is utilized by these Heroes.
