Has anybody noticed Jirachi-EX is really weak?

They must really hate Jirachi. :(

For People who don't know:

 

 

Have you, like, not read it's ability? It's NOT meant for attacking. Or being in the active spot at all.

In fact, I'd argue that it's a really good tech for Blastoise decks, or anything that runs Stage 2 Pokemon. Being able to turn Level or Ultra Ball into a Skyla to fetch Rare candy is AMAZING. Plus, since those decks tend to run a lot more Regular Pokemon, The fact that it's an EX rarely comes into play.

 

 

Also, If you want a Weak EX pokemon, look at poor Kyogre. And even he's not bad compared to most of the Legendary Birds. Then there's the Creation Trio, which all lose out for similar reasons (Awkward Energy Costs, High Energy Costs, and Lackluster damage for those costs. At least they're bulky and kind of DCE-Compatible.) Latios loses out in similar respects as well, having another strange energy cost, and the damages it deals really bite it in the ass (40 is too low and has a useless side effect, 150 is too high and has a really bad side effect)

...And then there's Meloetta. What a hot mess of an EX. 20 for 2 Colorless with Sleep or Confusion is...bad. Really bad. And then there's round...which, itself, is interesting on Seismetoad (Which is being reprinted in the next set) and such. However, doing the magic 30 for 3 Psychic is...bad. Like, Really bad when you consider seismetoad has that, but for 2 Colorless. Heck, we even have exploud now, which does 50 for 4. At the very least, it's a basic you can drop at any time to ramp up your round damage. And even then...

 

I know I got a bit ranty, but my point is, Jirachi is FAR from the worst EX. Another thing to note, is that NONE of the Pokemon I listed as bad had abilities. I spared Latias because of its protective qualities, for example. Jirachi has an ability, and it's really good. That's what there is to it. (Also a lot of the Pokemon listed either had stupid energy costs or bad damage or bad effects or any in combonation which when you dont have an ability is the only thing keeping you alive [See: thundrus EX who is really good because he has a good attack for 1 energy])

I was just defending this card. But seriously, you don't judge cards just by their stats when in the active. For example, things like Eelektross and Blastoise aren't great (or are even horrible) in the active spot, but they are extremely good when on the bench, due to their superb abilities. This is like that, but a one-time use thing when played. Heck, you could abuse it with Scoop Up-like cards to get a constant supply of supporters.

[Zeppeli Gyro Supreme]

Using Level Ball or Ultra Ball for a supporter is pretty strong. Jwittz lost in his match recently when he couldn't search for this early on to get him the supporter he needed to make his hand not crappy. Jwittz also used this card I believe partially because of the Ace Spec he used which is Scoop Up Cyclone to bring this back into his hand to re-use its effect. In a Blastoise deck that needs setup or those energy cards, it can be strong.

 

It's not the world's most horrible card, with an ability that puts many to shame, but if you're planning on attacking with it... good luck.
