Can I be second in command for the Nexians?

 

Sure, although there isn't really an appointed second in command for them. There will of course be a senior member that is looked up to by the others, but they will not necessarily have any more claim to second in command than the other senior members. Am I making any sense? :D

It could be a situation in which they may not necessarily be appointed as a "second in command" although other members just take up their advice and often do tasks for said member. So in theory you would still be a "second in command" but officially in the ranking system of said Faction you would not be classed as the "second in command."

Exactly. So functionally you would be a second in command, but you just don't necessarily have the title. If you ever watched the X-Men, in some episodes Wolverine is kinda seen as second in command to Xavier, but he is occasionally questioned by other senior members, like Cyclopes or Jean. And occasionally they take the lead on some missions. That would be the position you would be in.

Samuel is an empty man who can remain focused on a task at hand, he has an indifference to life and reality mainly concerning himself with what needs to be done, but can be persuaded to change his goals if need be. He is a man who is quite easily capable of psychologically torturing a man with no regrets. He will obediently follow orders to the letter, despite his own personal opinions, he longs for a sense of purpose and just wanders through life each day trying to find a reason not to end his own life. He likes to cover his appearance as not to draw attention to himself. The only thing Samuel does enjoy is the torture of others, with it being one of the only things he has left.

Samuel is a tall man at 6ft 4inches; he has short dark brown hair and vacant blue eyes, a short pointy nose and a small mouth, he has a large burn scare on the left half of his face, he has no facial hair and only a right eye-brow. he wears a dark blue pin stripe suit with a matching fedora, underneath he has a plain white shirt with black trouser braces and a gun holster. He wears a brown and white stripe tie and a pair of black shoes, he also occasionally wears a long brown trench coat to blend into the back ground. He also wears a blank white mask that only has a set of eye wholes which he uses to hide his burn mark and his facial expression.

 

While in mutant form his clothing turns becomes part of his skin and turn white, he will grow taller to 7ft 8inches and his finger turn to claws, he grows a pair of sharp white bats wings that can't be used for flying. His mask will meld onto his skin and his eyes will turn completely green

When Samuel was young his mother died in an accident which left him to be raised by his father a preacher at the local orphanage, his father would always preach to the people that we should ignore the differences between one another and should all live in peace. Despite his father's message of love and tolerance Samuel was always short-tempered and aggressive which often got him into fights with street thugs, he eventually fell in with a group of criminals who just wanted to cause trouble, eventually it came to light that they were an anti-mutant group who wanted to exterminate all mutants.

 

After a while, Samuel worked his way up becoming a skill assassin, who specialised in the interrogation and torture of mutants, until one day his father was murdered by the group as it was revealed that Samuel's father was actually a mutant who wanted equality for all, soon after Samuel learnt of his own dormant mutation which he used to kill all the members of the group he once was a part. Afterwards, he gained a hatred of normal's a feeling of emptiness that he decided to fill with completing what his father had started and gain equality for all.

 

By the age of 27 he was the new preacher at the orphanage which now housed only mutant orphans, but due to his dark history he would often accept shady jobs from a group of radical mutants who wanted the end of the previous race. After several years being the head of the orphanage Samuel's empty heart began to fill with peace and happiness, for the first time in his life Samuel knew joy and his hatred for normal's dulled, eventually the orphanage began taking in normal children who were crippled and had nowhere else to go.

 

This gave Samuel a sense of fulfilment and soon after he decided to stop taking jobs from the radical mutants, until when he turned 30 he was again approached by the mutants wanting him to do a very dangerous job, not fearing for his own life, but what would happen to the children if he was gone he turned it down enraging the mutants, the mutants soon learned that there was mutant children and normal children co-existing in the orphanage, sickened by this that night they burnt down the orphanage and all the children, Samuel barely escaped, but no without severe burns on his face.

 

With everything he cared about gone Samuel's heart turned into a desolate wasteland that could not recover, he returned to taking assassination and jobs, but was indiscriminate about the target or client. After a couple more years, he had made a deadly name for himself after killing 28 humans and 13 mutants in one-night, eventually he got his hands dirty with both the vanguards and foundations who now both wanted his head. Samuel managed to fake his death and in order to escape detection joined the Nexians a week ago, keeping his past to himself, this time determined to keep a low profile. Due to ideals of the nexian's he is determined not to kill anybody anymore so as not draw attention

The ability to infect others with viruses that are based on his emotions, depending on the emotion the symptoms varies and infected.

Emote Virus rules:

 

You can only be infected with one virus at a time

if infected with a new virus the old one disappears

the infected person intensively feels the emotion of virus

if infected with a virus you are cured of any previous ailments

if a person has been infected with all five viruses within 168hrs, they will die

While someone is infected with a virus, Samuel then loses the ability to feel said emotion in ratio the number of people infected to the maximum of people infected (for example, four people are infected with anger, Samuel can only feel half of his own anger)

 

- Anger: confusion/cannot think straight, pain in joints and deafness. Lasts 1 hour, maximum 8 people

- despair: blindness, dulled movement and large rash. Lasts 15 hours, maximum 5 people infected

- happiness: itchy skin, nausea and numbness in limbs. Lasts 20hrs, maximum 3 people infected

- shyness: loss of voice, dehydration and dizziness. Lasts 2hrs, maximum 15 people infect

- malice: paralyse, intense pain and hallucinations. Lasts 48hrs, maximum 1 person

 

The Worker (human form):

Is able to read a person's emotions by touching them.

Is able to turn any inanimate object into a 'infector' while touching it, if a person touches an infector they become infected with an Emote virus, an object remains as infector for 5 seconds after coming in to contact with it.

It is slightly better, but there are some things that need to be addressed. Your character seems to be a bit everywhere. He is cold and calculating AND a trained assassin, yet he has aligned himself with the least radical group. This was what first put me off about your character, but you do a reasonably well job explaining why he is so scattered in the bio, even if it is somewhat drastic. Your app contains a lot of grammatical/spelling mistakes, which I look critically upon. It is noted in the rules that excessive spelling/grammar mistakes will be addressed, so please fix that. 

 

The last thing I want to talk to you about is your mutant class and powers. In truth, everyone needs to hear what I am going to say about Mutant Class, so please gather around. I understand the desire to possess a powerful character, but we have experienced a flood of characters that are asking to be Alpha/Omega class mutants. Guys, there is nothing wrong with being a Beta or Gamma class mutant! There will be time to for your character to develop more powerful attributes and gain better control of their powers. Also note that there really isn't a distinction between Alpha and Beta mutants, save the physical mutations. I, as well as the other co-hosts, are looking for characters that have a potential to develop and provide interesting stories, not just power houses. And for the most part, you guys have done well with this, but it is looking like everyone is wanting to be part of the muscle-heads when there is plenty of room down here in the adolescent area of mutations. 

 

Back to your app, Nitro, I want to stress that I find your character incredibly unique and interesting, but there are just somethings that need looking into. With the need to completely transform, I would say that your mutant is most likely a Beta Class. I also want to point out that you have created a character that will most likely be one of the hardest to control in this RP, due to his power depending on his emotions. The allure to always be angry or malicious, etc will often overcome your RPer instinct, so please pay extra attention to this or consider adjusting your application. There is something that I don't understand too, why would an infector become intangible? That doesn't make sense to me. I would say leave that out of your app all together. 

 

Like I said, your character is incredibly original, but there are parts that need work.

Hey I have a question relating to the banned powers.

Is it alright if I have like toggle-able (on-off) attack negation and intangibility? My character cannot attack at all, whether he is using his powers or not. He does not have any offensive powers or weapons, nor does he have any thoughts to attack, and this mindset will not change (ever). He also cannot use his abilities to do something that would result in attacking/destruction/death/etc. Attack negation and intangibility are his only powers. When he toggles the negation on, then a field spreads out from his center, up to a mile in diameter. If any weapons enter the zone, they are intangible and cannot harm anyone while inside the zone. If someone tries to attack from outside the zone and fire in or similarly, the projectile/beam/whatever will follow suit and become intangible/dissipate/etc. This effectively negates all attacks besides unarmed. Also, while inside the zone, all beings inside have a base strength of an average human, and if anyone tries to hit or punch or similar, then the movement will stop in midair before it can reach whomever it was targeted at. In addition, this cancels out all supernatural powers, and if any supernatural buffers or the similar exist, they will be negated while inside the zone. So effectively, no one can die from attacks while inside the zone. Time still passes and all as normal, and if an earthquake or some other natural disaster happens, then they can die. I was thinking of this power because he is on the Nexians, and wishes for co-existence between "powered humans" (his word for Mutants, as he does not like the derogatory word for beings like him) and humans. This is mainly for the purpose of trying to stop battles or wars otherwise and try to convince the other two factions to stop fighting while inside the zone. His intangibility is just so he doesn't get killed or similar when doing various tasks or trying to do other things in which his field would be unnecessary, and so he cannot be kidnapped or the like. His intangibility is not toggle-able. He is a sort of apparition of sorts. He looks perfectly like a normal human being, no flickering or translucence, as being Omega class (trying to avoid conflict just being a "powered human" in appearance). However, if one tries to capture him, it will fail. Basically, all he can do is just try to help the two races co-exist, and he does not have any ways to harm others, nor can he use his abilities in a way that would result in any kind of harm, and he tries to protect all sides.

Whilst I have nothing wrong with it, I feel on some occasions it might clash with certain aspect of the story. By that I mean I don't want him appearing out of nowhere to stop fighting. I feel it's needs a better description on if it has an impact on him, if it takes time to prepare, if conditions need to be met for him to actually use it. I particularly don't like the fact that he can't be captured, it just seems that it's an easy way of getting out of tight situations. Interesting ability though.

Marina is blunt and to the point, preferring to get to the heart of the matter when she speaks. Though it is not like she is completely tactless; she knows when to keep her mouth shut. Even to those she runs experiments on, she is always upfront with what she is doing. In her mind, it's the right of every sentient being.

Marina can get rather passionate about her work and hobbies if one lets her. Particularly when it comes to the 'X gene', of course. Ever since her mutant power revealed, Marina's appearance did not change that much, save for her hair. Her once blonde hair is now an almost transparent shade of blue, and while she keeps it in a similar hairstyle, there are no hairstrands, and the style is held together by virtue of it being a 'solid liquid'. Standing at about 5'5" tall, Marina can often be found wearing suits and the like, more fitting for a businesswoman than a scientist. She rarely makes a frivolous motion and generally appears to be all-business, no-nonsense kind of woman, even with her obviously fake hair.

Once she slips into a labcoat, she becomes more frantic, as if she was in some sort of race. Her voice is still composed, though those who work with her know when she's freaking out, as her hair begins to lose its shape. Recently, Marina had taken to working in the lab bald, as to not get her hair liquid mixed in the samples there. Still, it's quite a shock for one used to Marina's public appearance to see her in the lab.

After getting her graduate degree, Marina dove headlong into genetic research, and counted herself among those who first discovered that the X-Gene was causing mutations, granting her some fame within the scientific community. Just a year after, she found herself in the public eye once again, as she discovered that she was a mutant. During a presentation to university school students, her hair dissolved into a goopy mess. Now classified as a mutant, the general public cast a distrustful eye upon everything she did and had done, culminating with her leaving the lab as to not get her fellow researchers and friends caught up in her infamy.

Soon after, mutant relations soured to the point where rumors of genocide was going around, and Marina found herself contacted by a member of The Genesis Foundation, wanting to use her mind since the humans saw no worth in it. As she was still very much into science, she accepted their offer, and soon began to view her mutant curse as a blessing. A blessing that all of humanity ought to share. Her viewpoint doesn't make her popular among those who view humans as scum, but they tolerate her due to her insight and knowledge.

Under normal circumstances, it holds together well enough for it to not cause any trouble for her, besides looking completely unnatural. Otherwise, Marina finds herself often turning in into either slick ice-like form, or a sticky glue-like form. If left on its own not connected to her as 'hair', the material eventually changes itself to water - losing all connections to Marina's mutant abilities in the process unless properly contained. It usually takes more than a few hours for this to happen. To Marina's relief, the material is non-toxic to humans and mutants. The material itself grows as fast as hair would, but drinking large amounts of liquid can accelerate the growth process.

When traveling in dangerous places, Marina often carries a few vials of hair-liquid to use in emergencies. She keeps a large amount of hair liquid in her lab below freezing temperature store it without it becoming useless to her. If need be, she has a large, modified water gun toy complete with a backpack for storing the liquid. It was modified to allow her hair to seal the tank on the back, allowing her to control the qualities of the liquid she fires.

Fighting? If caught in a situation where one was trying to fight her, Marina's first instinct would be to run far away. Thanks to her power, it becomes easy to escape. If she actually needs to fight, she prefers to fight with others and support with her liquid hair abilities and her water gun. If it does become one-on-one, she tends to flee as expected, but if cornered, she has been known to fend off attackers by using her hair to create weapons for her use.

Status: Stalled. Currently only able to fool certain outdated methods of mutant testing with minor side effects. There are some ideas about using a different method to hide the X-Gene from detectors, but theoretically, the side effects are huge.

Kinda wanted to make a character who had some fame surrounding her, and doesn't exactly 'fight' in the normal sense of the word. I just hope that Marina can get in with only a few modifications, haha.

It takes a minute or two to prepare. It does affect him, but that doesn't matter as he couldn't attack anyway even without the negation. He doesn't even think about attacking, and physically cannot, as he is intangible. Conditions? Eh, IDK. The fact he can't be captured was moreso as he is neutral and shouldn't be used for leverage.

Interesting. Definitely a different take on a character. That would be too people in a row that express interest in a character that doesn't fight. You guys turning into pacifists on me? From what I see, it looks fine. The Discoveries are fine, interesting really. Your mutation is extremely...strange. I really don't understand how this could possibly ever be used as an offensive mutation, but I guess that is the point. Once you get the appearance up, I think you will be accepted.

EDIT: @Seraph: Xel and I have reached an agreement on your character idea. For the most part, the idea is fine, with a few stipulations. 1)When he activates his field, he becomes tangible, making it so that he can be physically assaulted(by hand) 2)He is still affected by Containment Collars and the like.

Alright, I'm fine with the two stipulations, but can I have it so while the field is active, beings can't be killed by hand either inside the zone?

 

What so brawling may still occur however lives are sustained whilst inside the field? I don't see that being a particular issue.

It is slightly better, but there are some things that need to be addressed. Your character seems to be a bit everywhere. He is cold and calculating AND a trained assassin, yet he has aligned himself with the least radical group. This was what first put me off about your character, but you do a reasonably well job explaining why he is so scattered in the bio, even if it is somewhat drastic. Your app contains a lot of grammatical/spelling mistakes, which I look critically upon. It is noted in the rules that excessive spelling/grammar mistakes will be addressed, so please fix that. 

 

Back to your app, Nitro, I want to stress that I find your character incredibly unique and interesting, but there are just somethings that need looking into. With the need to completely transform, I would say that your mutant is most likely a Beta Class. I also want to point out that you have created a character that will most likely be one of the hardest to control in this RP, due to his power depending on his emotions. The allure to always be angry or malicious, etc will often overcome your RPer instinct, so please pay extra attention to this or consider adjusting your application. There is something that I don't understand too, why would an infector become intangible? That doesn't make sense to me. I would say leave that out of your app all together. 

 

okay I have made some adjustments to the app, I tried to make the character seem more placid and controllable also i have adjusted his ability, the reason I made the infector's intangible was because I thought the character was a bit too powerful so I tried to limit him.

 

my sincere apologise over the grammar and spelling, I try my best but my worst skill is grammar and the app may be a bit rushed, I will review it and edit it.
