How about making the topic about TES in general? I don't see the harm in it either. As for Skyrim I haven't played it.

You be missing out bro.

Not much to say about Skyrim really, it's really good if you are into open-world kind of stuff. I'm disappointed in the lack of flashiness though, I wish there were gigantic bosses and whatnot like in some other games.

Though on the topic of TES, what do you guys think of the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online?

I'm probably part of the analytical minority that doesn't like Skyrim.  The game's execution was far-off from intended, combat feels really unbalanced (Seriously, why does Destruction Magic have to be so underpowered for a majority of the game while all of the melee-styles of combat are more standardly-powered?  Why is it that you get 1-hit killed by giant enemies if you don't have heavy armor?), I tend to find myself in spaces that render me immobile in one way or another for accidently coming upon a glitch (which causes me to restart from last save), and there are several Guide Dang-it moments for easy-to-get-into situations (Vampirism, anyone?  How was I supposed to know that I needed to cure Vampirism through a specific-quest than through just the standard cure-all pot?).  While I did enjoy the College of Winterhold quests and the Alchemy skill, I'm just not a fan of how Bethesda handled some/most of the decisions.

Assassin master race. Illusion too op.

Also, destruction is OP as hell in Skyrim. Like seriously. You can wreck everything with Destruction. I don't know what gave you the impression Destruction is under-powered.

The fact that it takes about 12-15 medium-level spells to kill medium-classed characters :/  Even with 70% Magicka Cost reduction and high amounts of Magicka, I find myself getting swarmed by enemies with decent damage output and running low on Magicka.  Like, seriously.

It's nigh unusable early game because it eats up so much of your magicka, which makes it incredibly hard to train and then it doesn't even do much. Magicka also regenerates ungodly slow.

The level of Giants don't scale, they are set at Level 30 or something, I think. My Level 40-something Light Armor user can just stand there long enough for it to go into rotating camera mode when they attack.

itt: Potions don't exist. They seriously throw them at you in the beginning of the game. Getting Destruction up and getting the Novice perk isn't hard. Also being a Mage in general isn't supposed to be easy (but Destruction is by far the easiest). You have to be careful of your distance with enemies, when to use Potions, how long to cast spells for, etc. It isn't meant to be "LOL FIRE YER DED LOLOLOL" its meant to be "DIE PLS. PLS. DIE. PLS." But once Destruction gets to, idk, I'd say 40, everything gets wrecked. And if raising Destruction and killing people with it early is hard, just go to Draugr infested places. They're weak to fire. Die quick as hell. Point is, Destruction isn't under-powered in any way, shape or form and simply just takes patience. They're not gonna start you off wrecking everything.

Is it sad that I still do everything you say and still end up thinking it is weak?  I space myself away from them and unload on them with many tactical forms of magic.  However, they just don't seem to want to die.  I can understand if it is a small group of enemies that are stronger than others, but having to go against 3 draut deathlords and 5 spirits, all with the damage output to kill you in 1-2 hits while they can take about 20-30 intermediate-level fire spells each (That's about 160-240 casts if you don't strategically maneuver around) while you're in a nigh inmaneuverable area just makes you want to kill them faster, especially if it comes out of nowhere.  Compare to a person who is more melee-focused, who can tank about 20x more damage and finish them in 20 swipes each.  As of now, it just feels like they made magic a self-imposed challenge until you make it far enough where it becomes broken.

To me that sounds more like a problem of enemies that are too strong, not a player that is too weak.

If your serious about magika you need a serious build.  Try a high elf with Morokei mask and the archmage robes and amulets and rings of your choosing.  Invest perks into Destruction.  I run this class and once you get the perk  that allows you to stagger opponents with dual-cast it becomes OP as hell.  Illusion is very OP but pretty boring to use as well (Other than mayhem).  Alteration is a deadly skill tree which allows you to soak up magika attacks.  Restoration is always useful.  In short if you cant run destruction magic just run alteration, conjuration or illusion.  Bethesda gives you plenty of options there.

Sad part is that I actually had all those risques set to me.  I was a High-Elf with the Morokei Mask and had the Archmage Robes and amulets and rings that reduced the amount of Destruction Magicka I use.  I invested my perks into Destruction Magic until I couldn't and even then I still have trouble with enemies.

I found it amazing, I for one loved the fact they had dragons, and so I loved Skyrim more than the other TES games. I played Daggerfall, and really didn't like it, the gameplay and stuff. Morrowind I used to love but was really young when I played it and so didn't follow any quests at all XD Oblivion I followed the quests better, and skyrim I just loved, probably because now I was old enough to actually follow the story and quests better XD

For peeps saying about combat systems, I did find my first character
Argonian

(vampire)

-----------

Heavy armour

2h Weapons

Archery

Sneak

^^^^^^^

Main skills I used (and my race), I was quite sneaky character, using ranged sneak attacks or sneak attacks with a dagger. I did use the vampire lord (dawnguard) perk and it is quite op when maxed out. I was dissapointed at how Dragonbone/scale armour/weapons were weaker than daedric (can't remember if it was teh weapons or armour) but I didn't really like the look of Dragonbone anyways :l
was the easiest to play as, compared to mage and light armour/1h. Mage is considerably underpowered at low levels but I'm trying to use it (have to resort to my dual-1h if things get tough) but I really want lightning storm (looks awesome XD).

Don't suppose any of you guys know of a glitch that makes mana regenerate constantly? As in I'll be holding in a spell and it will still regenerate, it will still use up the mana required, but it will regen still. This isn't too OP as the mana can still run out, but the fact it constantly regens makes for me able to hold healing/ward in one hand and a destructive in another. I'm no one for glitches/bugs, but this is pretty cool, considering magic is really UP early on.

I like skyrim. The only beef I have is that combat is too repetitive, and you don't level up through questing. As for the magic dbate, I used Conjuration to run a dual wield wrecking beast. The bound swords are amazing when you get Soul Release i think, where a Bound weapon turns undead and banishes summoned creature, very useful against Atronachs. Also, having 2 Atronachs is amazing. As for destruction, at early levels I combine it with a oe handed weapon, so I get constant fire damage, plus extra damage with my melee weapon because the target is on fire.

Yeah, combat gets/has taken a lot of people, and that questing is actually quite a nice point, it would be cool. And I knew you could summon up creatures and weapons and do necromancy and stuff with conjuration, but I never realised it was that good :O and with a certain restoration perk it could be even more useful against undead. Undead really have it bad when it comes to Skyrim, almost every other thing is more effective against them ahah. I also did that when I started, in fact I still do, I carry two two-handed weaps on me at all times, just for when my mana runs out.

Recently I've been thinking how I much preferred the Vampire Lord as opposed to Werewolf, it's just a lot more op I suppose. But Werewolves do have some pretty cool stuff going on for them, i.e. wolves/werewolves fighting for you / power attacks knocking enemies down etc. One of the attacks I love especially is to sprint at them and power attack, knocks them down and does a lot of damage compared to normal attacks.
