Suppp (Rap)

Well, I know not many people on here like Rap.

I bet you probably think it's stupid, have no meaning, and only talk about sex and drugs, but not all of them.

I wanted to see if anyone would possibly have any artists/songs in common with me.

Artists:

  • Drake
  • Kendrick Lamar
  • Brother Ali
  • T.I.
  • Eminem
  • A$AP Rocky
  • Lil Wayne (least favorite out of rappers, but I like the spice he put in when he is featured with other artist)
  • Akon (I only like his old songs)

Some songs I like (WARNING Most of the songs are explicit):

I like a lot of DOOM's albums a lot because he tends to have a eye for good beats as well as a very consistent flow, honestly he's the only rapper I'd straight out say I was a fan of.

I like some of Lupe Fiasco, Project 80ish Kendrick Lamar and Talib Kweli's stuff too.

K.Dot

V$VP is pretty straight, some stuff is shitty but most of the time he goes hard (i.e. Suddenly, Bass, Wassup, Goldie, etc.)

Wax

Jay-Z is a legend and will remain a legend forever.  Magna Carta had some slip-ups but some SICK hits like Crown and Fuckwithmeyouknowigotit.

Kanye West is one of the best producer/rappers in the game.  Sure he dicks around a lot but holy shit, he makes albums of such an epic and grand scale that his dicking around honestly doesn't even hurt him.  He is an obnoxious asshole tho.

Bun B

Busta Rhymes

Bone Thugs & Harmony

Immortal Technique

I personally like Wiz Khalifa a good amount.  He doesn't have a huge skill and wordplay game, but he's confident and that serves him well.  Rolling Papers was balls, but even he admits that.  Taylor Allderdice was good, O.N.I.F.C. was pretty decent.  His old school stuff was bomb.  I mean he's got talent.

Mac Miller is personally my favorite party rapper.  I get high, go to a party, driving with friends, I put on Mac.  He's funny, got some wit and decent jokes, plus he's fun to watch on YouTube.  His casualness works well.

Obviously Eminem, Pac, Biggie, NWA, Wu-Tang, all the classic shit gets a thumbs up.  Eminem's new shit tho is fucking kick-ass at best, half decent to downright shitty at worst.  He's lost a little bit of edge trying to appeal to a bigger crowd.  He's gotten more mature and less violent and drug-riddled.

Now Drake, he was getting built up in his skill when you first released Thank Me Later, but Take Care and really any of his endeavors Post-Thank Me Later were pretty much shit.

Lil Wayne was the same, accept it was after Tha Carter III and even then Tha Carter IV had a couple songs that worked.  After all that he just hit rock bottom, and he hit it hard.

I could go on all day about rap and all the knowledge I have on this goddamn subject but I've said it all before lolol

I count ODB, RZA, Masta Killa, Raekwon, ETC. I counted as Wu-Tang.  Didn't feel the need to list them all individually.  Jay-Z's wordplay outclasses so many, mainstream and underground...AND NIGGA YOU USED TO BE INTO DRAKE WTF YOU SAYING ABOUT MAINSTREAM SHIT.  ;D  You know I love you doe.

I'm starting to get into Hopsin.  I watched that video in Eros' sig and he went in.  I've listened to him before but honestly some of that Ill Mind of Hopsin shit is wack.

:C Irish and British rap is flying under the radar as usual. Ken mentioned Lowkey though. Maverick Sabre's pretty awesome; really different because, while most American rap is hip-hop, UK rap is a lot of R&B and grime. Maverick's on that R&B side, with a lot of folk and soul influences too. Plan B's also awesome.

Jay-Z, Kanye, Hopsin. That's pretty much my sphere for American rap. I'd get into finding more underground stuff just to see what's out there, but I'm lazy.

Captain Murphy needs to release more stuff. Anyone here like Ab Soul? As for Cory Gunz, he really is hard to listen to when trying to make trap music and stuff. I only really like his freestyles, he's pretty good with assonance at times. I'm going to be honest, I didn't like Tyler's Wolf album as much as I had wanted to. Rusty was my favorite song and I liked him a lot more when he was into that dark subject matter but he said he might never go back to that stuff. Tron Cat is my favorite song altogether.

I don't think I need to go too far here.  Obviously I'm a huge fan of Funk Volume.  And I haven't seen Tech N9ne listed here once, what the fuck?

I've listened to him before but honestly some of that Ill Mind of Hopsin shit is wack.

As far as this goes, I only really like 4 & 5.  Cuz the only nigga I can say who dared to speak out against the world besides Hop was Tupac, Biggie, and Dre (so to speak, back when he was good).  I'm also big on a lot of the old "gangsta" rap.  The old Eazy, Snoop, and the classics (not all lyrical but I could rock to that).

But my favorite artist(s) in top three are:

1.) SwizZz  (lyrically, I feel like he's the strongest in all of Funk Volume.  I can touch on this, but I don't see anyone asking for a validated opinion on someone this skilled).
2.) Immortal Technique (Don't ever wanna see this questioned.  Who does that shit tho?)
3.) Diabolic (that nigga scares me.  Real shit.)

Idk bruh, Tech has a great flow but I can't get into him for some reason.  It kinda depends on the season, I won't lie.  I'll bump a ton of his shit in winter, all the way up through January, but in summer and spring I don't.  Everready The Religion and All 6's and 7's are two of my fav albums from him, tho.

Pretty sure I've listened to "Riot Maker" so much that my neighbors and my mother know the lyrics.  Pretty sure.

Wow I honestly didn't expect this many replies. I thought no one else besides Proto would comment so I forgot about this.

It's crazy how many people like rap and I love all you opinions.

I have a lot of common interests with a lot of you, but my all time FAVORITE rappers is Wu Tang.

That mix is actually very good. I rarely listen to him, though. I'll be sure to listen more:)
