Watched the two filler episodes before the league. The Goodra episode was pretty meh. Nothing really note worthy about it. The ingenuity episode was adorable though. It was super fillery (even more so than the Goodra one) but I really enjoyed it.

I'll watch the first league episode later.

League one was fine; aside from the convos between Ash and that filler character, everything else was as I suspected.

  • We know Trevor got creamed 3-0 and wasn't happy about his time being cut short.
  • Alain told Charizard to aim at a precise angle; yeah, you have to be really good to be THAT accurate.
  • Ash almost loses because his "other" battle took forever. (Uh yeah Ash, couldn't you have waited until AFTER your league battle because that almost got you a forfeiture)
  • Ash-Greninja wiping out Altaria in one shot was cool; going to assume he won the same way against Tomo's other two.

But yeah, aside from Trevor, everyone else who's important to the plot wins

Probably something to introduce Manon/Mairin into the main series or other non-battle related stuff. Suppose we'll have Alain introducing Ash and co. to her (and vice versa).

Just a guess given the previews but yeah, wait a few hours for the episode to air. (It's still 11 am in Japan now)

-----

As for the movie, nice to know that it'll be dubbed soon; now to see if Volcanion will be here before Sun/Moon launches (Japan already has it for obvious reasons).

Probably will be Nintendo Network like the other two, but what do I know?

As for Kukui, don't think he'll appear in this series, but definitely someone from Alola will come and introduce Ash (and us to Gen 7 stuff, including Z-move stuff, but thinking it'll be more on newer 'mons). When that'll occur, I don't know, but probably in late September / early October. That also means they need to get the Team Flare thing going fast.

Volcanion will be distributed in October. (via serial code)

For NA (and by extension, Germany and Italy), it'll be at Gamestop. (No other distributions have been confirmed at this time)

Can't be via Nintendo Network, otherwise it would have to be distributed in November.

Then I was right.

Anyway, new episode is on. We'll have to wait for subs to fully understand what is going on.

Then I was right.

Not that it was any surprise. I (and many other people) also assumed it'd be a serial code thing.

[spoiler=Thoughts on XY129]

- I was right in thinking that we wouldn't see any more of Alain's pokemon this episode, not that it was a surprise tbph.

- I'm probs more surprised than I should be that Meyer (aka Blaziken Mask) and Clembot appeared, then again we're still in Lumiose

EDIT: The subs for XYZ-33 are out.

EDIT 2: Thanks to the preview of the next episode, we now know the entirety of Alain's team:

[spoiler=Alain's team]

Charizard

Metagross

Tyranitar

Weavile

Unfezant (male)

Bisharp

All six in one episode?

Ash vs. Drake, my fave battle in the Orange Islands arc, had three different one on ones for the first part.

I guess it's all up to Ash for his strategy. I'm rooting for Ash, hope he wins it. If he does, it'll be his first actuall league champion win.

Looks like a lot of things are being set up for the Flare arc with this episode. Watching this also made me realize that it is going to take place with a TON of supporting characters also floating around. Curious how they will play into things when it starts.

Anyway, Alain has a solid team minus 1 member. Wish it was a Gen 6 Pokemon since that would mean he'd have a rep from all the current Gens.

Also dat ending. What

Next couple episodes are going to be fun, and yeah, Unfezant isn't something that we'd expect Alain to have. Other than that, rest is pretty solid and probably something that can win on Showdown or something.

(Mega Charizard-X, Tyranitar, Weavile, Metagross, Bisharp, Unfezant; well, two of them do have nasty 4x weaknesses to Fighting)

But yeah, rest of the episode was nice for the most part and did get Mairin/Manon introduced into the main series. Gotta wait for subs, but probably Lysandre telling Ash about his Greninja's potential to do something amazing. That, and apparently Shota's watching replays of actual fights.

----

Least we got new ending though, but literally about Pikachu loving ketchup (at least they went back that far enough to remember everything).

If they didn't disqualify Ash for going Ash-Greninja at least twice (the one against Astria or whatever that Mega Absol trainer's name is didn't have that instance), then they aren't going to do it now in the finals. British already said everything else.

Hopefully Ash wins (one of the episode titles seems to imply that), but being runner-up is good enough though. As for Alain's Pokes, I would've thought he'd get something more menacing than Unfezant; not saying it's a bad choice but yeah, doesn't seem to be something he'd feasibly use. Not sure what else he'd use; could've been a Gen 6 'mon (but aside from maybe Aegislash or something in a higher tier, what else works for him?)

Or, what if Ash wins, but is disqualified since Ash-Greninja is not an official Mega-Evolution.

No

The one major Gen 6 Pokemon we haven't seen used by another major character that also fits on his team is Dragalge.
