Pokemon XY&Z

What I find interesting is that the first 2 battle episodes for the league don't even feature Ash as the main battle. Though I do like that the two side characters are getting some love. I do find it funny that the series started with Mega Evolution being a big deal and now a bunch of the main characters are capable of it. Odd Tierno isn't using Blastoise.

Also, really weird that Alain is in the league. I had hoped that would happen, but when did he go and get badges?

And yea, I don't think it happens often but the movie is going to happen in the middle of the league.

Yeah, the last time that happened was the Zoroark movie happening in the middle of the Sinnoh League. And I also find it odd that Tierno isn't using Blastoise, but I agree that it's nice that he and Trevor are getting love when the last time we saw them was when they were briefly seen watching Shauna during the Master Class.

If I had to guess, Alain will win the champion and after he gives his speech one of 2 scenarios will occur.

1. Malva will claim that Alain is working with a criminal organization called Team Flare and has Officer Jenny arrest him.

2. During the crowning ceremony, Lysandre will appear on the jumbotron and proclaim that Team Flare will conquer the world.

This what I see happening regarding the Kalos League;

- Lysandre having some system in place to gather the mega evolution energy from the trainers and at the end; uses it for his own means in the Flare arc. I also think they'll find out where Squishy is, sparking Ash and co's involvement with Team Flare.

Yeah, I am surprised that Shota and Trevor even got Mega Evolutions (can only wonder how the hell did they get Mega Stones in the first place). Especially given the fact that Trevor couldn't even Mega Evolve in the first place in the games (but games/anime don't correlate with each other). But yeah, I don't expect Trevor to win against Alain, especially since X has a technical type advantage (and likely is stronger due to training). Same with Tierno against Shota.

Going to assume the league takes quite a while after the Carbink episode (and likely Alain is collecting badges at that time). Might also explain how Jessie got BS'd into the Master Class too (presumably).

I was going to hope that Ash would eventually get a Mega Stone and evolve something (although that's going to have to be one of his old Pokes, and they aren't bringing those back anytime soon).

As for the above, sounds logical.

Could work, but doubting the production company would even remember that from GX (let alone reference another anime for the idea). The question would still remain, where are they getting the Mega Stones themselves (unless same process).

Although I suppose the lag between now and the League will give Ash time to find a sixth 'mon. While I'd like to assume Ash will take back Goodra for the league, I don't know about that.

I doubt he would. Maybe Ash will surprise us and ask for Heracross.

If he does indeed bring back Goodra, I will be SO happy.

Regardless, he's cutting it REALLY damn close, considering he'll undoubtedly need a full team to fight in the later rounds. Even Snorunt wasn't added to the team this close to a League, they've really dragged their feet filling Ash's team this series and I'm not really sure why.

Question now is who the hell is Ash fighting in round one? All his rival characters are spoken for matchup-wise, with AlainvTrev and ShotavTierno. Is he just gonna be fighting a nameless rando? I mean, I guess that's not really fair of me to say; I'm just so used to him having someone he knows as an opponent in the League at all times. The last time he battled someone he didn't actually know personally, or was given buildup like Tobias, in a League (on-screen, at any rate, as there was that one battle in the Sinnoh League we didn't see barring the end where Snorlax took the victory) was in Hoenn when he battled Katie. Almost all his matches then were with complete strangers, with the exception of his battles with Morrison and Tyson.

Maybe he is building the stadium or something? Unlikely, but not the craziest thing in the world.

I haven't gotten around to watching the new subs, but I know in the Alain rematch episode Ash did say something about the league. Wonder if that got him interested or if he had said something about also having badges. I'm honestly curious if the badges you get can keep being used year after year for the league entry.

I honestly had that very thought today. I can totally see it happening, but I do like when Ash brings back his old Pokemon and having the open 6th slot means he can rotate things.

If he does bring back Goodra his team would be really weird though

Electric

Water

Dragon

Dragon/Flying

Fire/Flying

Fighting/Flying

I honestly think that also gives support for Ash bring back Goodra. The 6th slot being open still is REALLY noticeable and Goodra returning 2 episodes before the league starts really screams set up for its return.

Likely random trainers. It is odd that they are using up two known characters right at the start since based on DP and BW the league should have 6 rounds and it looks like they both lose in round 1. Both those leagues skipped round 2 though so its likely they'll skip around here too. Maybe something like rando, skip, Astrid, Shota, Alain? I mean, all 3 of those trainers have beaten Ash before so they would make for interesting matches. As it stands I'm expecting Ash to lose to Alain and I'd be 100% ok with that so long as it happens in the semis. Alain is not only an established character he's one we've spent time following and I think having him win the league would make for an interesting dynamic come the Flare arc.

Regardless, they've really been firing on all cylinders for the past couple of months so I'm very hopeful for a really good league arc.

Maybe he'll battle Drasna. You know, have a sort of preliminary test. If he can beat her, he goes to the league, if not it would be all for nothing.

In regards to what Brit said, This goes back to my Bio-Band theory. However, this band will be issued only to trainers who can Mega-Evolve their pokemon. Which means Ash is out of this loop.

The previews give us no indication whatsoever of Drasna in the previews. Plus Ash will have eight badges, that's literally all he technically needs.

So Drasna's gonna be odd one out huh? Also, oh wait, you saw GX season 3 so you know what they do: Drain life energy to feed Yubel. Well same concept here except Team Flare will use it to drain Life Energy from the trainers who can Mega Evolve their pokemon. And what better way to do that then to have said trainers gather in one spot than the Kalos League. Picture it.

Malva: Welcome to the first day of the Kalos League. As a celebratory event, trainers who can Mega Evolve their pokemon will receive a Special wrist band. This wrist band will monitor your progress throughout the League. The tech in these bands contain computers which will help the league officials keep track. (Ignore this sentence since this is a repeat.) If at any point you take off this band, you will be disqualified from the league.

Meanwhile Team Flare monitors the Mega Evo trainers at the league, and activates the bands when the mega evolution synchonicity is at it's peak, sucking out the life energy, resulting in sudden collapse.

This is just a theory of what could happen in the league.

Now, I know it's early to speculate this and I have discussed this before, but Which English VA will voice Wulfric? I have a few candidates in mind:

Wulfric is an old man so it comes down to who can pull it off the best:

  1. Let me get this out of the way: Dan Green is my number 1 choice. He was Wattson, he was an old guy, so it would seem to fit and makes the most sense.
  2. Eric Stuart. He could apply the Flint voice from when Brock returned to Pewter City in Pokemon Chronicles.
  3. Mike Pollock. Eggman, enough said.
  4. Richard Epcar: Christina Vee was in one episode, Kira Buckland in another, so why not?

My opinion on that matter.

Anyway, the rematch between Ash and Wulfric will be spectacular, but how the heck do they get the water in the Iceberg Badge?

The whole "if you take off the band, you will be disqualified" thing is a bit silly if you ask me.

What I was talking about with the whole gathering mega evolution energy thing is the system to gather said energy is fitted into the battlefield itself, underneath the trainers' feet.

As for Drasna, I think I said this last year, can't remember but I reckon she'll appear in the world of pokemon segment for the upcoming movie.

Yah it was kinda like Prof. Thelonius Viper's "Remove the bio-band and you'll be expelled" deal only less harsh, And just something to be thrown in. The stadium being the energy absorber thing, makes more sense.

Yeah, we're gonna get Sun and Moon before Volcanion can be distributed to English players. And with November being the month of Genesect, they will have 6 games for codes unless Genesect codes are not valid with Sun and Moon. and neither will Meloetta. But that is game talk.

Drasna will remain one of games and anime's mystery characters that never open their eyes... ever.

Xellos from Slayers opened his eyes, Gin from Bleach did it too, even Brock did it, and it was creepy. So why not Drasna?

Anyway, nice theory, maybe I'll abandon mine for yours.

At least someone likes my theory. I wanted an idea that doesn't make it seem obvious that someone is exploiting the trainers, but also to leave them unaware that they're being used. Ofc when it comes to league talks, more people are talking about the possibility of Goodra being called upon for the league.

If anything it'll be post battle interactions since the cast list implies they have speaking roles.

Anywho, there'll be a new Ending theme; "KiraKira" by Clemont (Yuki Kaji) that'll be used in the June 16th episode (Note: it'll only be for that episode).

Also preview of upcoming episodes, some Kalos League scenes;

tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/pokemon_xyz/story/#pv

[spoiler=stuff]

It confirms Ash will be battling Shota at some point, and as I assumed, Shota now has an Aegislash

Alain certainly looks shifty in one of those scenes too.

I know they played Kirakira as a slight insert song for Citron/Clemont during some episodes, so won't be too surprising. I do expect that we'll get a new ending theme for Team Flare arc. Then again, still waiting for full versions of Serena's version of DreamDream Power and the Team Rocket song (even though I've been wanting them to leave at the end of Kalos).
