To be fair, the only reason why Clemont gets embarrassed because Bonnie never listens to him when he says he's not ready to get married, and surely he's too young to as well, however we don't even know how old Clemont is.

Clemont looks to be about 11 or 12. He is old enough to be a trainer. Just not old enough to get married yet.

 

I actually found the description for that episodes

"Ash and his friends encounter a young woman who has the rabbit Pokemon “Buneary” as her partner. She’s the heir to a famous robotics company and appears to be on the look for a prospective partner."

This makes more sense, but will she want him just for his brain?

I say he looks 12/13 myself tbh, but all we can do is speculate. However I will quote the great Morikawa (as it applies in this instance);

Morikawa: "Pssh, I'm pretty sure there are laws against this kind of thing."

 

And now, I can't help but compare Bonnie to Nagisa.

- Noibat has now been replaced by Noivern in the opening, no surprise here.

- So Knuckle worked as a locksmith with Edo, but used that knowledge to commit crimes. When Team Rocket, tried to get Knuckle to do what they want, he managed to use the opportunity to get away instead, and after TR was srnt flying, a fire happened ad Knuckle decided to save the pokeballs inside... until part of the roof fell on the lock and locked him inside, meaning both Knuckle and Edo and their Binacle halves had to work together to open the lock. Whilst all of this happened, Z-1 seemed awfully concerned as they fought the fire, not that it is a surprise.

 

 

 

EDIT (Saturday 12th): meanwhile, the subs for XYZ-14 are finally out.

I was going to mention the fact that XY&Z 14 subs were added last night, but you already found out. 

 

[spoiler=110 thoughts]

  • So much for Ash getting another Pokemon, but this is pretty much a master/disciple thing, even if the disciple turned bad + used his lock knowledge to commit crimes. 
  • I almost thought Knuckle looked like someone I knew from another anime, but that's likely due to the spiky hair. 
  • Two parts of Binacle meet up again, but otherwise they're just used for picking locks. 
  • I shouldn't be surprised that Squishy was concerned about the fire that Team Rocket inadvertently started after they attacked Knuckle.

Thank god. It took a month for 14 so I was worried we were going to be stuck on a month behind. Will have a bit of catching up to do when I get home.

I didn't think the subs for 15 would be up this soon after 14, and what it does mean is that the subs are one episode away from that one episode I said I will re-watch.

I'll have to watch 15 when I get home from my weekend stuff (that and my usual weekly anime); this one is the Ribon thing if I remember correctly. And yeah, episode after that is the one that, for whatever reason, got the opening and the meat of the episode cut out in lieu of a bunch of advertisements and other irrelevant crap.

 

Guess they're finally catching up on the subs, which is nice.

The article didn't even say anything about Sun/Moon being on hold as a result of this though. (Besides if Sun/Moon were put on hold, there'd have been an official statement and it would've been on Serebii and other sites, so yeah)

 

Got around to watching the episode

[spoiler=Thoughts on XYZ-19]

- They funking did it, the writers BS'd Jessie into the Master Class, that's my only complaint about the episode tbph because there must've been some sort of timeskip at some point in the last 10 episodes.

- Not surprised Shauna and Serena advanced, and it'll be between those two definitely, sod Jessie she has NO chance.

- I liked the concept of people voting at home (like Trevor, Tierno, Korrina, Gurkinn, Sycamore did), and it was nice to see Goodra, Alexa, Viola make cameos as well.

- Grace definitely wins the "irresponsibility award" this week though. She's at Glorio City in the audience, but she left a laptop in the garden with Fletching/Rhyhorn watching. For all we know, that could be in plain sight and what if some douchebag were to steal it, there's no way Grace would know.

- Shauna's Flabebe pulled a disappearing act at the end though. It was with Shauna when the semi finalists were revealed, but disappeared in the "to be continued" end slate.

 

Preview: So Aria now has a Vivillon and will be using it against Serena, interesting.

  • So yeah, someone explain how the hell Jessie managed to get two Keys before this tournament started (considering she only had one key in the tournament that Eevee screwed up in & the fact that there wasn't much time to get her keys within the span). I know one of us made a remark about it being bad writing if Jessie did somehow pull 3 keys out of nowhere (and she has)
    • Though I would suppose that a sufficient amount of time took place between 110 and 111, and was enough to get said keys. But yeah, they actually did it. 
  • Miette and Nene got wiped out first round (though Miette had to go against Serena anyway, and Nene lost to Jessie)
  • Yay for cameos by Korrina and a lot of other people / Pokemon (even Goodra showed up), but yeah Grace left Rhyhorn at home with a laptop (and no one watching them).
    • Voting from home thing is cool though. 
  • Serena and Shauna deserve to be in the finals, since they actually earned their keys (and weren't BSing over it, though we never saw Shauna get her 2nd/3rd keys on-screen though). But we know Serena will win in the end otherwise.

I wouldn't be surprised if Serena loses to Aria; after all, there is a reason why Aria/Elle is Kalos Queen (for however long she's had the title) and that's likely due to her larger experience in this field. 

 

Though, there were instances that the current female lead has beaten more experienced trainers in competitions (Serena vs Aria is a regular battle, so she might have a chance, but kind of iffy on it).

Finally! I've been wating for the subs for that particular episode (which I just finished watching), and I'm glad to say the issues the episode had when it was uploaded RAW (awkward scene jumps, ads, etc) were rendered non-existent.

 

[spoiler=Additional sub thoughts]

Mainly to do with Palermo dialogue

- To Amelia: She believes that performing isn't something Amelia should be doing right now (this is more-or-less to do with her status in the city), and that it's up to herself to achieve something greater.

- To Serena: She tells Serena that sh is lacking something crucial that is needed to become queen and that she can' beat Elle as long as she doesn't realise what it is, hmm.

Ep 14: Really cool having a purely team rocket focused episode. I'm enjoying their conflict with Flare and its nice to know that Flare is competent enough to beat them. Alain working with them was also spoiled but cool imaging the fall out that can come from it. Also enjoy Bonnie singing the ending song and squishy body language. While it CAN talk we get whats going on just from how it moves.

 

Ep 15: Not going to lie, I had feelings when the robot was destroyed. Episode was super cute.

 

Will watch 16 tomorrow. Only have a little bit of wake time left and want to take care of some other stuff before going to sleep.

I'm happy that the XY108 sub actually had the parts we want to watch, and less of the advertisement crap (and the unrelated start of Shippuden). Got to watching it after my usual weekly stuff. 

 

So yeah, thoughts.

  • At least Serena won, though Amelia (the rich, local favorite) didn't think she deserved it. To be fair, I wasn't impressed with the performance (and no, me liking Espeon is not getting you brownie points for my vote either, if I were actually voting in this thing). 
  • See the guy trying to bribe Yashio to watch Amelia? Yeah, just because she's a celebrity in the city doesn't mean that she is getting preferential treatment. 
  • Wonder what Palermo/Yashio meant by "you're lacking something". My guess would be the desire to always desire perfection (or at least be better than last time); Serena said she had fun with it, but is that all she wants to do?
    • I would think that Serena DOES have this drive to exceed her limits, but perhaps not to the same extent that Yashio was looking for here. (She was impressed for a while until the ending, then stuff happened)
    • Because I watched XY111 (Master Class), my judgment on this is likely altered, but Serena is showing improvement.

- Yeah, not surprised Aria beat Serena and keep the title of Kalos Queen. It would've been nice to see Serena win, alas it wasn't to be.

 

 

 

Also new titles:

Episode 918: Serena becomes Ash! The Ultimate Pikachu Showdown!! (April 14th)

Episode 919: Ash and Alan! Greninja vs Mega Charizard Once Again!! (April 21st)

Episode 920: The Forest's Curse and the White Phantump!! (April 28th)

 

So April 28th will see the appearance of the 4th shiny pokemon in the XY series.

Ofc a part of me wants Ash to capture the Phantump, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen.

Slice of Life anime from the 60s... what are you on about? I legit have no idea. Way before my time.

Sorry, late 60's. It's an anime called Sazae-San. Had to look it up. An anime that started from October 5, 1969 and is still cranking out new episodes today, and Sazae-San has over 7,000 episodes under it's belt, while Pokemon is nearing a measly 1,000.

Most barely get to 50. Pokémon coming up on 1000 is a MASSIVE accomplishment.

Indeed.

 

Nice to see we're finally nearing Wulfric's appearance. I'm expecting that at some point in May or even June depending on plot.

The only other thing that's noteworthy is the Ash-Greninja/Gardevoir fight.
