Watched 12. Thoughts

- I like that Serena went with Citron. She did it because she was putting Eevee first. She clearly would have gathered Ash, but she knew Eevee would rather partner with Bunnelby. What was the music that was playing when Serena learns is boyXgirl pairs?

- Serena's facial expressions through out the episode were great. Pokemon never really feels all that "anime" to me, but every time she made a face it certainly felt very anime.

- I enjoy watching Miette screw with Serena. Mostly because it gets some of the best facial reactions from her.

- James was also a joy to watch. His expression when he had to dance with Serena was great. Same with the battle and Jessie

- Them bringing back the fact that Ash can't dance was also cute. I did enjoy how Aria was able to get him to calm down since the end he seemed to have gotten the hand of things. Pikachu was also fun to watch.

- Also, its really cute how Sylveon basically holds hands with Serena when it evolves and during the ending.

Honestly, I think the various character expressions throughout is really what made the episode shine. Its a fun, SUPER shipping heavy episode that has a lot of little nice things to make it really enjoyable. Since I'm assuming this is where Eevee/Sylveon's shyness leaves, over all it was a good arc for it. It they spent several episodes dealing with it so it took several episodes to more or less solve it and thats satisfying. And, again, they REALLY better pay off all this ship teasing because this episode has been the most pushed in that regard by FAR.

Looks like they are back to 10 or so days between airing and subs coming out so hopefully 13 will be out in a week.

Saw the info on Serebii myself, and with the reveal, the title of the movie is now;

Volcanion and the Exquisite Magicial Magiana

Needless to say, it continues the trend of movies to contain something from the following Gen. (It has to be next gen)

Magiana is said to be made by humans 500 years ago and inside its body it contains some sort of "trick" and Volcanion is said to know Magiana's greatest secret.

As for its type, I'm sure it'll probs be steel, and if not, it'll probs be a rock type.

New poster for the movie;

Movie summary from CoroCoro;

As Ash and his friends continue their journey, Volcanion drops down from the sky in front of them. Volcanion's objective is to recover Magiana, who has been abducted by the "Azoth Kingdom", a city of super-machinery. However, Volcanion and Ash have become linked together by a strange chain. Will the two of them manage to work together and save Magiana?

On another note, remember this woman? (Giovanni's Secretary Matori)

I'd understand if you didn't because the last time she appeared was in XY003, and that was like 2 years ago.

Heck she even speaks for the first time in like 5 years.

Speaking of Team Rocket, Team Rocket's Team Song is used as the ending theme for this episode (instead of teh current ending theme).

On an unrelated note, I wouldn't be surprised if the ticket pre-order event for the movie is a shiny Gardevoir (w/ mega stone), doubtful but it could happen.

On another unrelated note, it looks like the UK isn't getting the Mega Evo 4 episode next week (after cheking tv guide, but I've seen it subbed anyway), however it was announced via the channel's twitter before the Pokémon episode (XY092) finished that CITV will be airing the 1st movie to celebrate Pokémon's 20th anniversary.

EDIT: New movie summary

As Ash and his friends journeyed onward, a huge Pokémon suddenly fell from the sky in front of them! Appearing from the cloud of dust whirled up from the impact of the fall was the mythical Pokémon Volcanion! It turns out that Volcanion, who lives in the secluded "Navel Plateau" together with Pokémon that have been injured by humans actually has an intense hate for all humans.
Volcanion completely ignores Ash and his friends, and attempts to hurry away, but for some reason Ash ends up getting pulled along with it. Volcanion makes a run for it, and Ash gets pulled along. Incredibly, without either of them noticing, the two ended up linked together by a strange chain! Even though they want to get loose from this chain, it proves impossible. With no other choice, Volcanion started running off towards "Azoth Kingdom" while pulling Ash along with it, constantly fighting with him on the way.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Jarvis from Azoth Kingdom, a city of super-machinery where gigantic cogwheels are constantly rotating, has obtained the ultimate invention he has been searching for for so many years. It was the artificial Pokémon Magearna, which was born in the kingdom 500 years ago but since went missing, as well as the unknown power called the "Soul Heart" said to reside inside Magearna.
As Jarvis plots to use this power to rule the kingdom, Volcanion was attempting to retrieve Magearna, who got abducted from the Navel Plateau! "Ain't no way I'll ever forgive the humans!!
Will Volcanion and Ash manage to work together and save Magearna while linked together? And what is the true power the "Soul Heart" hides? It's time for the hottest battle in Pokémon history to begin!

We have our move antagonist; Jarvis

EDIT #2: (21st Feb) we have a new episode title
Episode 915: The Master Class Begins! A Maidens' Fight where Sparks Fly!! (March 17th)

So this pretty much confirms Serena will win next week, and in 2 weeks (When Noibat evolves), XY will have officially surpassed AG in the longest period of time that Ash has not had a full party of 6 in a given region.

2 weeks. Still now subs. I'm so sad.

We do have a new episode though.

Episode 915: The Master Class Begins! A Maidens' Fight Where Sparks Fly!!

Wow, they are FLYING through plot episodes. We have 19 episodes for XYZ so far, and while your mileage may vary, I'd argue we have 13 with important stuff happening. Seriously, the anime has been one fire as of late.

I'm going to wager you hit the "End" key on your keyboard when you went into this thread and posted.

As for the subs, it is unfortunate that they're going slow again, heck even Arc-V has been getting slower with the subs, but not as slow as pokemon though.

While it's true that the anime has been on fire as of late, I also believe it's going a bit too quickly imo. I didn't think the Master Class would be coming this soon. It simply makes Jessie's win completely irrelevant now.

And that new pokemon, it's called Magearna.

Old news as I'm sure most of us saw it in the ORAS thread a few days ago. Then again, this thread doesn't have the english name though.

Yeah, but the showcase involves Rhyhorn. Doesn't Serena hate being a Rhyhorn racer?

"hate" is too strong a word in this context. She doesn't dislike Rhyhorn racing per se, it's that she's more serious about becoming a Performer.

Although the Rhyhorn here don't look as friendly as the ones from the gif of them licking Serena.

[spoiler=episode thoughts]

  • Guess they're trying to find water in this episode (and eventually they do). Wouldn't make much sense to try growing plants in a wasteland.
  • Legitimately surprised that the robot was actually sentient enough to take the hit for Chesnaught and move on its own accord. Needless to say the latter was pissed when Team Rocket destroyed it.
  • Would appear that the little kid (who we know as Hiro) was apprehensive to Citron touching Robon (even though Citron works with robotics and should know what the hell he's doing). At least he warmed up afterwards, especially since Citron fixed it after it got destroyed and repaired its charging outlet.
    • Going to assume that the grandfather had an implied heart attack / chest pain, hence why he only appeared on the video and in said flashback.

As for the next episode, Serena has to deal with Rhyhorn but wonder what that'll be. As British mentioned, they don't seem particularly friendly like the kind Serena was originally trained to race on.

Ash still hasn't gotten a 6th Pokemon, but at least Noibat evolves so I guess that makes up for it.

Not too bothered with the slow subs, since we've been dealing with this for quite a while now.

Time to rant;

So this is something that's been on my mind since Thursday and stems from events that happened in December. Basically I feel that the Master Class has come a bit too soon, and the reason why I'm bringing up events from December is simple; the Couriway showcase, the showcase that Jessie won. I reckon the writers funked up here because with the Master Class coming next month, Jessie's win at Couriway is more-or-less irrelevant because let's face it, I think we all know she won't to be entering the Master Class as she only has one Princess Key in addition to being involved with the plot (and following the twerps), and I don't think the writers are going to be like "Oh yeah, a lot of time happened between the next few episodes and Jessie won 2 showcases off-screen." if they wanted Jessie to enter the Master Class (to justify her Couriway win) because that'd be somewhat bad writing.

I also want to bring up Jessie's involvement in Pokémon Contests as well. In Hoenn and Kanto she won zero ribbons and we were fine with this (because she had no wins that were wasted). In Sinnoh she won the five ribbons she needed to enter the Grand Festival, which shows they weren't short-changing her when she won at Solaceon; they went full out in having her enter the Grand Festival. However in Kalos, I feel like the writers are short changing her with winning one key and the chances of her entering the Master Class being slim considering how soon it's coming (meaning her win would be irrelevant and as a result would be wasted come March).

With that in mind, I feel that the writers might've had the wrong person win the Couriway showcase. The showcase had three previously shown performers (Serena, Jessie and Nene), two of which has two Princess Keys (Serena, Nene), the other having zero (Jessie) yet the writers opted for the person with zero keys winning.

Two of Jessie's Sinnoh ribbons were technically given to her by other people; she didn't actually win them herself (I know that Salvia gave hers to Jessie while acting as Dawn, since she already had the full ribbons needed to compete).

But yeah, Jessie probably shouldn't have won the Showcase if she would end up not competing in the Master Class; again, this is probably why I would've liked to see the scores of all of the performers at that stage (or even the performances that weren't shown in full). Maybe one of them might've deserved the key more than Jessie did (although I don't really like filler characters winning; Nene would've been fine, assuming she too would be competing later on).

Yeah, off-screen wins are annoying since we don't know if they deserved to win or got lucky because one of their opponents screwed up somewhere (like Serena did in Couriway). If Eevee didn't have that accident, Serena might have won but can't say.

(Though Nene didn't show up to the dance party, so don't know if she is aware of the next Showcase's location; probably does or they have unannounced ones somewhere)

Then again, I'm waiting to see how Ash's final gym battle goes, whenever that happens.

I think the thing that bothers me most about the slow subs isn't so much the speed but the inconstancy. Like, if we had some kind of schedule it would be one thing, but the times they come out is so scattered.

Pretty sure Nene will have won her 3rd Princess Key in an unannounced location (same with Shauna who also wasn't at the dance party).

On another note, one other thing that has plagued my mind is the Binacle episode. I was chatting with a friend on Thursday and wondered if Ash will capture the Binacle in that episode. (not impossible to think that), though that'd leave him with a severe disadvantage to electric-types. Personally I would like him to get something else like Bergmite or Phantump (who also haven't debuted physically in the main series yet).

Its safe to bet all the major rivals will be in the Master Class with the other wins coming off screen.

Yea, I was thinking that Binacle might be caught too. Agree that it wouldn't be very good on the team given how electric weak it is.

It was something I was thinking about, but I wasn't completely sold based on that reasoning alone, that and apparently after checking Bulbapedia, the Binacle apparently has an owner (which is why I edit'd the paragraph out) and whilst I'm on that subject, the character appearances for that episode and the preceeding episode doesn't mention TR.

We are almost at 3 weeks without subs. That REALLY is too long to wait. I THINK this might be the longest gap. Would need to check past ravings on the subject to see.

Anyway, been watching random DP episodes and I think the lack of a central rival IS a weakness of XY. Even in the dub, Paul is an amazing character and his character and rivalry with Ash is truly a joy to watch. We have Sawyer and Tierno, but neither feel like a character that could beat Ash when it comes time for the league. They are good characters and I certainly think they could end up giving Ash a run, but the dynamic with Paul is really missed imo. If I were to compare them to a character, I'd say they feel more like Barry. I think the only character that could come close to filling this niche is Alain, but he hasn't given any indication that he'll enter the league. I guess we'll (I'll) need to settle for the interaction between Alain and Ash in the next episode (see, I bought it back to this ungodly long wait time) and at least the one after suggests Alain is going to be showing up more so hopefully we'll get to see Ash face off with someone that edges him out.

Alain has his own problems to deal with, I doubt he has time to worry about the Kalos League.

Speaking of, you get the feeling that when the Flare arc is said and done, Malva will throw a hissy fit about it until Drasna appears and says "You don't want to make me mad...", opens her eys, gives off a feasome demonic aura and then says "...do you?" Then Malva becomes a scared chibi and says "No ma'am." and then Drasna closes her eyes and says "As long as you understand, that's fine."

That would be scarier than May getting mad about not having any food or when Ash and Max fantasize about what would happen if they swapped the freshly evolved Combusken with May's Torchic.
