Flame Dragon
Didn't realize this week was also without an episode. Curious what caused it since while its not uncommon for the anime to take breaks they normally aren't this close. Also a break at the start of September. So strange. I guess they are opting to go slowly than put out mountains of filler. Honestly, I'm cool with that. Nice to know episode 80 is finally out. Not in too much of a rush to watch since the subs are moving at the speed of molasses
Flash Flyer - Sakura
I wouldn't have known 80 was subbed either if I didn't randomly check earlier on in the week. But yeah, no signs of 81 or 82 being done at this time. As for the breaks, not sure why (doesn't appear to be linked to any national holidays/celebrations; probably taking it easy so they don't fill on subplots + things).Filler is okay to a point, but we'd probably like it if the plot stayed pretty much consistent. Pchi
The reason there was a break this week was because, apparently, they aired an 1-hour Naruto special.
~British Soul~
That's fair enough, I assume there's another anime special in early September as well (if it isn't a special occasion).
Flame Dragon
The reason there was a break this week was because, apparently, they aired an 1-hour Naruto special. I figured it would have been something like that. I know with Super Sentai/Kamen Rider its not uncommon for a slight delay because something takes their time slot. Astro Dude
Speaking of... http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-08-06/kamen-rider-555-actor-masayuki-izumi-passes-away/.91302 But on topic, I think I know who voices Valerie in the dub: Haven Paschall herself. How do I know: Process of Elimination. As Sherlock Holmes would say "If you eliminate the impossble, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Kate Bristol provides the voice of Linnea, the blue wearing Furisode girl, Nikki Colange, an African-American, provides the voice of Blossom, and Dina Haniwa is Kali. I cracked the code. Plus, the dub will find out who voices Sawyer tomorrow.
~British Soul~
In more "relevant" news, we have info on Mega Evolution Act IV courtesy of CoroCoro: Yup, Zygarde will be making its anime debut, along with multiples of the green blob pokemon in Mega Evolution Act IV. Plus we'll find out more about the silhouetted pokemon in next year's movie and the green blob pokemon in next month's issue. Still no news on the airdate of the special this autumn. Pchi
Damn it, why do we have to wait so long to get new info on the upcoming movie/MES/game? T_TNow, mind if I go slightly off-topic? I was watching the first scene of very first episode of the anime, when this idea popped in my mind:We all know it's heavily implied Nidorino's trainer in that scene is no other than Bruno from Kanto's Elite Four because not only does that character's design match him perfectly, but after Nidorino is defeated, he immediately sends out Onix, one of Bruno's trademark Pokémon. But what if that scene was actually depicting a battle between him and his fellow Elite Four Agatha, Kanto's greatest specialist in Ghost-type Pokémon? It'd make perfect sense to be her since Bruno's opponent is using a Gengar and appears to have the upper hand on their battle, which, given Bruno's status as one of the most powerful trainers in the region, would be more plausible if they were a first-rate Pokémon Master like him; not to mention Agatha is canonically stronger than him (in the games, at least)...I wonder if he challenge for the place of second strongest member of E4, not unlike the Sinnoh 4 constantly tried to usurp Cynthia's throne during the DP Saga, or if it was just an exhibition match like the one the latter had with Caitlin in the Unova arc. Maybe that scene is what inspired the writers to include that plot point later in the series in the first place?Sorry if I wasted too much of your time, I just thought it was a nice piece of trivia to share with you guys. Astro Dude
We welcome it. Come to think of it, I would like to see Drasna in the anime. I bet she has a stare that gives people nightmares.
~British Soul~
Trailer for Mega Evolution Act IV which shows Megas making their debut, Malva and the green blob pokemon. Also this will be the final act of the Mega Evolution specials.
Flame Dragon
I'm pretty sure we've known this too be the last of the Mega Evo acts. Depending on how it ends it can easily set itself up to have the characters come into the main series. Side from that, Malva making her debut is cool and the blob showing up here is super unexpected. ~British Soul~
I'm sure it'll end in a way so that the characters (like Alain and Lysandre for example) can come into the main series. Although I'd have thought the trailer would give us some sort of indication to the airdate of the special though. In other news, XY082 is subbed. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Technically, it's 81 because sub sites screwed up the order + didn't put the Pikachu movie special as a separate category and instead made it a regular episode. But yeah, hopefully the Mega Evolution special ends in a way so Alain can be properly introduced into the main series. (I haven't watched it at the time of posting though)
Astro Dude
Man, why does Alain have to be a jerk to Marin? Also, the Gourgeist episode will air in America September 19th. If anything... A marathon of all episodes of Pokemon that feature Ghost Pokemon for Halloween. GENIUS!
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Wasn't he technically one in the first three; or at least, not as friendly as he should be? [spoiler=Anyway, episode stuff]Heavy rain screws up power at Pokemon Center; Chespin has to get something to fix it.It happens, and things go well (except Chespin getting a stomachache from overeating; why are we not surprised). Also, more unnecessary Team Rocket appearances; at least Ash didn't have to give commands; Chespin/Bunnelby dealt with them on their own.
Astro Dude
Wow. So, Malva. That makes 2 E4 members. If you count Wikstrom's cameo that makes 3.
Flame Dragon
I wouldn't say the E4 members showing up is anything special. A lot of them have shown up in the anime. In fact I think all of the 4th gen E4 members did.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
If memory serves me, yeah they all did. I know Bertha and Flint did; iffy on the other two (I think I watched their episodes if they appeared, but chances are that I probably didn't). Gen 3 only had Drake; though Steven showed up (and later Wallace). Gen 5 only had Caitlin in that exhibition fight against Cynthia.Marshal, Grimsley and Shauntal didn't appear in the anime. ~British Soul~
Gen 1 had all of theirs show upGen 2 only had two (Koga and Bruno)Gen 3 only had Drake and the championsGen 4 had all of theirs show up and the champ CynthiaGen 5 only had Caitlin and the champ AlderGen 6 has had 3 so far (Drasna has yet to appear) in addition to the champ Diantha But yeah, I agree with Flame, E4 members appearing isn't anything too special. Pchi
Why doesn't the anime staff take advantage of the inevitable filler episodes to introduce more game characters instead of creating new ones needlessly? Even a single, CotD-esque appearance would be better than never showing up at all :/
Astro Dude
Well, I think they should have more E4 episodes. I mean, wouldn't it be neat to have Pikachu shock Shauntal or Ash enduring Marshal's training regimend or Grimsley asking Iris to be his girlfriend? ~British Soul~
Shame none of those ideas will ever happen (for obvious reasons I can't be asked to list), but yeah there should be more episodes focusing on more relevant characters from the games. Flame Dragon
I think thats one of the things the manga does SO well. It uses the major characters SUPER well.
~British Soul~
I agree, that's one of the reasons I prefer the manga to the anime. Not only does the manga have an interesting plot, but when one arc is finished, they move on with different protagonists as well as giving important characters the spotlight they deserve, oh and the action is decent too. IMO even by manga standard (i.e. vs. other manga) Adventure is a top tier series. It just does everything SO well. I do take issue though when people try to compare the manga vs. the anime since it REALLY isn't a fair comparison for multiple reasons.
