Pokemon XY&Z

Recommended Posts

Place I use still has 79 mislabeled as RAW, but episode 80 is in the right place with subs. Time to watch a successful contest run.

Episode was really cute. The bond between Serena and her pokemon really came through. Also, called it on why Serena was blushing back when all we had was that one picture to go on. Really curious where they end up going with her feelings for Ash.

Oh and Sakura, if you're reading this, any chance we can sort out the Amaura at some point.

Yeah, that sort of slipped my mind for a while, but I didn't forget about it.

It's still there, although just need to figure out what I'm looking for at the moment. (Then again, I know Yemachu was interested in one, but haven't heard back from him).

But yeah, raw text would be fine; at least it'll be something to compare against standard dialects (if the speech quirk is indeed prevalent in there also).

If Darkplant were still active + was willing to translate stuff, we could ask him.

As for 80 subs, I'll go and have a look if they are up (after the other anime I need to watch).

Hmmm... 3 days till the Valerie dub.

I wanna say Liza Jacqueline, you know, Bloom in Winx Club, Kelly in Pokemon, longshot. A very big longshot. I hate not knowing but let's review who we got so far:

Viola: Lori Gardner

Grant: Cory Willis

Korrina: Lisa Ortiz

Ramos: Anthony Salerno

Clemont: Michael Liscio Jr.

Okay, my predictions for the final 3:

Valerie: Kerry Williams

Olympia: Bella Hudson

Wulfric: Dan Green

^ Surprise surprise, another post mentioning Valerie. We get it, you're excited about Valerie's english appearance.

Moving on to something more relevant

So this week, they acknowledged Pumpkaboo's evolution through trade when Jessie traded hers for a Mawile when the other trainer's Pumpkaboo fell in love with Jessie's. However after it evolved, the Pumpkaboo was no longer interested, thus the trade was reversed, and Jessie got her Gourgeist back.

However, it's been 333 episodes since a Team Rocket pokemon evolved, the last time was Jessie's Yanma evolving into Yanmega.

Oh, one more thing, this episode confirmed that Jessie's Gourgeist is female and is a Super Size one too.

Even if Jessie had kept Mawile, she wouldn't have the necessary bond with it to Mega Evolve in future battles; also the fact of where would she even get a Mega Stone (aside from the OT).

But yeah, Pumpkaboo eventually evolving was to be expected at some point in the series.

On a sidenote, XY080 isn't subbed yet on the usual areas I watch it on.

I remembered Flame mentioned that the place he watches got it (unless that was actually 79).

Can't help it.

Also, if it was that long why couldn't her Woobat and Frillish evolve? Would have shortened the time between episodes.

Indeed especially since it was shown to be a Gourgeist in the current ending from like 3 months ago (XY068)

Can't help it.

Well there's a difference between being excited and being over-excited

That's down to the writers.

And it follows the uninterested love cliche. Allow me to put this in context: In Moon over Minerva, Minerva Mink has no interest in dating Wilford B. Wolf, however she went head over heels over his fabioesque alter-ego, which only appears during a full moon. This is what happened again. Think way back to Sparks Fly for Magnemite, The Heartbreak of Brock, and Once in a Mawile.

Also, how is it Jessie did not know that her Pumpkaboo was the Super-Sized version, or female?

Simple, there was never another Pumpkaboo around for size comparison, therefore, how could they have known that Pumpkaboo come in different sizes. Yesterday marked the first appearance of a Pumpkaboo other than one owned by Jessie.

EDIT: Also, we don't know when Mega Evolution Act 3 will air in the US... BUT I was randomly checking tv listings and apparently Mega Evolution Act 3 will air in the UK this coming Monday.

Okay, saw Valerie. Once again I was wrong. Also, they changed Scottie's name to Sawyer. Or was it always Sawyer in the dub. As for the Furisode girls:

Linnea (Redhead): Unknown

Kali (Black Hair): Unknown

Blossom (Tan): Unknown

Katherine (Blonde): Brittany Lauda

We'll have to wait until Bulbapedia has the answers.

Oh yeah, Valerie's English VA is also unknown.

She did the poke-talk, but not the accent.

That's my analysis.

I stopped caring about the dubbed anime, so it really doesn't bother me if we don't get it for a while.

As for this week's episode, nothing special outside of Pumpkaboo evolving.

While yes, we can ask "why didn't we know it was a female Super Size"; up until this point, no one else had one of their own. (British already said it though)

For all we knew, Jessie's one might as well have been the Small size.

It would seem that Team Rocket managed to convince Count Pump's butler that Ash and co. were bad and wanted to get Pikachu, but in the end, they got screwed again.

(I said this a lot, but at this point in time, TR isn't really providing anything useful to the plot nowadays; just being general nuisances with their usual antics.)

Especially since the "Pikachu" they captured was Chespin in a Pikachu outfit.

To be fair, they were at their strongest in terms of being useful in the early days of the Best Wishes series.

Agree that Team Rocket is more annoying than not, but I still don't think they are that bad. The episodes that focus on them have all be good imo. Like, the Pokeball Factory one had a decent number of good Rocket jokes.

A lot of us would like to see Team Flare already, that much is certain.

For one thing, TR had the Poke Factory episode + stole Poke Balls (which was indeed Team Flare's thing in the games).

That in mind, we can guess that Team Flare will make it their goal to revive Xerneas/Yveltal for whatever reason (when they make an appearance).

Granted, Team Plasma didn't appear until post-League, though we would've had them before the 3rd gym in their original outfits, had the tsunami not screwed things up.

Yeah, BW Team Rocket was actually threatening because they had missions.

Nowadays, they've returned to mostly attempting to steal Pikachu + other things.

-------

On another note, XY 80 is still not yet subbed at this time (the one with Rotom).

81 isn't, but it usually takes subbers a week to get it up anyway.

Based on Lysandre being a major player in the Mega Evo episodes I HIGHLY doubt they are just going to ignore that very low hanging fruit. It feels like he is up to something and having Alain learn that he is actually a bad guy is ripe with story potential.

Yea, the rate episodes get subbed is like down to 1 every 2 weeks. No idea why the subs are taking so long, but it really strange. Curious whats causing it.

Yeah, I'm curious as to why the subs take forever nowadays.

Up until episode 70-something, they've been up to date. I don't know; maybe the subbers are busy with real life lately (academics, work and stuff).

Though this isn't the first time an anime took forever to be subbed; I know ZEXAL wasn't done for the longest time.

70s was when the rate of release slowed. They were never super fast, but they would normally have the episode out before the next one aired.

Its weird for me since when I watched more fan subbed stuff they would normally have them out a few hours after it aired in Japan. I guess this is what happens when it is a less demanded series.

Probably.

Heck, ARC-V is half a year younger, but its sub releases are certainly faster (next day, they already got them up).

I don't know; if it keeps up, might have to resort to seeing the dubs (although I voted against watching them due to what they did in certain cases).

-----

Definitely some people are getting impatient on waiting for the subs, but I can't blame them.

It's been about two weeks, and still nothing.

This is pretty much one of the reasons I should learn Japanese; in the case stuff like this happens, I can watch the show without having to wait for subs + probably do it myself.

I probably wouldn't mind it if they subbed it in Spanish either, since at least I have an understanding of the language + can watch it without too many issues.

I'm not surprised people are getting impatient when it comes to wait for the subs tbh.

On another note, I was chatting to my friend Monday evening, and I said to him "The person who wrote the description of Mega evo Act 3 for this week's episode of Pokemon over here (on the website I saw it on) should sit in a corner and think about the people they disappointed." and he agreed with me, though neither of us were surprised when it was the next main series episode chronologically anyway.

Yeah, but, and I said it before, they're taking over Team Flare's plots. I'm sure Xerosic is getting fed up with them.

I doubt Xerosic is getting fed up with them. Probs don't even know that they're operating.

Then again, I reckon the writers thought that the Power Plant and Pokeball Factory were irrelevant to what they plan to do with Team Flare in the anime.

A lot of us would like to see Team Flare already, that much is certain.

I'm sure the Giant Key Stone that Lysandre obtained in the Mega Evo specials will tie into the eventual Team Flare arc later on in the series.

Yeah, BW Team Rocket was actually threatening because they had missions.

Nowadays, they've returned to mostly attempting to steal Pikachu + other things.

Having said that, even when Team Rocket went back to stealing Pikachu in BW, they still maintained their seriousness when they had missions with Dr Zager. (Shame he never appeared after "Operation Tempest")
