Flame Dragon
Caught up on the last two episodes. I liked the Shota episode. Ash made for a good mentor and the battle was good even if it was helplessly one sided. The bit with Team Rocket was great. Really liked the Noibat episode. It was so precious and I liked that they took advantage of Ash having 2 flying types to help it to fly. Also, I know I said it before but I really do love Hawlucha. I love it mannerisms, its just so much fun to watch. Also love its theme. Team Rocket also got some laughs too. Also liked the Flame Body reference and the trick to evolving Inkay reference. We're getting a 1 hour special today so odds are its going to be a little before the episodes are finished.

~British Soul~
Better quality post timeI quite enjoyed seeing Noibat continuing to flourish under Hawlucha and Fletchinder's supervision whilst teaching the former to fly. One thing I did like about the lesson in this episode was when the sudden gust of wind hit because it's a natural obstacle that a flying pokemon needs to overcome, and I figured that it would be important later in the episode during the race because it even though it was a setback, Noibat did well to claw it back but it wasn't enough as Starly pushed harder. Am I surprised Ash didn't win? Not really tbh, I mean he had stiff competition in the Starly-line guy who was the previous champion.I will say this though, seeing Noibat ride the wind reminded me of Ash's Gliscor learning to read the wind prior to its brief hiatus. Moving onto the Pikachu special, I liked that they had Pikachu Libre as the villain, very clever imo. One thing I found interesting was when they were doing the voice over parts in the sound booth, the woman character providing the voice of Super Pikachu (Ash's) beared a striking resemblance to Ikue Ohtani who we all know voices Pikachu. The fourth part of the special was amusing as it was pretty much the blooper reel, I liked that they included that at the end. Also it was nice seeing Hawlucha acting as a stunt double for Pikachu during one of the scenes of the movie. To add, this episode marked the first appearance of a Weezing in the anime since James released his back in AG006 which aired like 12 years ago. Regarding the preview of the next episode, when I saw Meowth trying to capture Pikachu in a pokeball I was like. "Man Meowth is retarded trying to capture Pikachu, it's not going to work. It's not like Dawn tried to do that in the Diamond/Pearl series and it failed because Pikachu had a owner."
Pchi
I find that old man Frank to be rather creepy with his total obsession with Pikachu XD Specially when he starts acting like a young girl drooling over a cute pet. His backstory is also disturbingly reminiscent of the behaviour of many elders in the real world who start adopting a lot of pets in order to fill the void left by the loss of a spouse. Not that I didn't enjoy the special, though...
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Next time, Meowth tries to capture Pikachu in a pokeball. Also, shame Ash lost the rally race. Winner by a nose trope. Considering that Noibat just hatched the last episode, getting runner-up status wasn't bad.If Noibat had a bit more time to perfect its flying (and overcome the backgust earlier), then perhaps it would've won. Indeed though, it was close, although it's against the previous champion so the loss shouldn't have come as a surprise. At least it learned to fly; that's the good thing. I shouldn't be surprised that Team Rocket resorted to cheating in this tournament, especially during the second part. --------------For the special, yeah, Frank is literally obsessed with Pikachu (some of us have a strong liking for other Pokes, but they're not to this extent); but they make good actors in the movie. Then again, he should've been careful about how he handled Ash's one at the start, since he did get shocked as a result. Libre Pikachu was a good antagonist in this one, that's for certain. To be honest, the other cosplay forms wouldn't really be suitable for the role.(PhD Pikachu would've probably been some diabolical evil genius planning to take over Pikachu Land [or whatever that area was called in the special], but I don't know.) Yeah, Hawlucha filling in for Pikachu during the swooping down scene was a nice touch (and likely to save time with filming, although they did have Pikachu on a drag line at the end during the sunset). Bloopers were fun to watch though.
~British Soul~
Two new episode titles:(Yes there is a 1-week break on the 16th because of the showing of the previous movie, that was to be expected) Episode 885: The Gourgeist Festival!! Farewell Pumpkaboo!? (July 23rd)Episode 886: Cross the Snow Mountains! Mamoswine and Abomasnow!! (July 30th) The one problem I have with the first of these episodes is that it's practically obvious that Jessie's Pumpkaboo will evolve (We knew that it was gonna happen from the current Ending and the PK27 poster), however this comes AFTER the movie/Pikachu short, meaning the first time we'll see said Gourgeist will be in the Pikachu short airing alongside the movie, so it makes more sense for the episode to have come before the 18th.Having said that, Ash's Fletchinder made a cameo in last year's movie, yet the episode when Fletchling evolved didn't air until AFTER the movie, so this isn't the first time this happened. Flash Flyer - Sakura
And yet another Team Flare opportunity will pass by.The Poke Ball Factory would've been a nice way to introduce Team Flare, but unfortunately we're getting Team Rocket again for that part. Eventually they'll appear; probably after Ash deals with Olympia/Gojika (although the anime tends to stray from games a lot in terms of other plot things). Then again, it's a long walk back to Geosenge, so likely Team Flare will have a base somewhere else in Kalos and/or begin their plans somewhere near Anistar/Hiyakkoku. I'm thinking about this too much in relation to games. There was a special episode for Hoopa yesterday; but I couldn't find it. (Likely because they were in the middle of cutting out the advertisements and stuff)
~British Soul~
@Astro Dude: *Slowclap.jpg* Which comes as a surprise to like no one. @Sakura: Well we've seen Lysandre Labs during the Mega Evo specials, but we have no idea where it's located. Flame Dragon
Its almost a given at this point that Team Flar will get an arc to itself after the league finishes. No generation has skipped the new villainous team and we know Lysandre is around and is likely plotting something. Just give it time.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Indeed, we eventually got Team Plasma in BW [albeit the B2W2 ones] after the league (although we would've seen the original ones, had the disaster in 2011 not occurred). So yeah, Flare will come around. (As much as I'd like to assume Lysandre Labs is still in Lumiose; that may not be the case.) It's just a matter of when the writers decide to put them in. ---------Hopefully Ash does better in the league than he did last generation; as for Serena, let's see how her Showcases go. ~British Soul~
Yeah I don't think Lysandre Labs will be in Lumiose tbh, given the other enemy team hideouts aren't in their in-game locations. (i.e Team Galactic's isn't in Veilstone) As for the league, I'd like to see Ash at least make top 4, but not end up in a one-sided match. I dunno about you guys, but I personally saw the Ash/Takuto fight as a bit of a cop-out imo, so that the writers can move on and ending the Sinnoh League as well as the series. At least they made Ash defeat Darkrai to prove that it isn't unbeatable, unlike a certain Champion's pokemon who was not defeated once on-screen. *cough*Cynthia's Garchomp*cough*

And I'd venture to say a lot of people view Takuto as a co-op on the writers part. The fact that Ash was able to beat not just Darkrai, but Latios as well when no one else could eve beat Darkrai leads me to say that Ash was the second best trainer at the conference. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Indeed, the runner-up in that tournament wasn't even able to defeat Darkrai (like many others), so truthfully Ash should've been second.Whoever fought Tobias in the finals was only lucky because they weren't pitted against him at that time. Ash beat Latios, although that resulted in a draw because Pikachu had to KO himself for that. Some people elsewhere are speculating that Tobias had more legendary Pokes on hand for his 3rd through 6th; that, and some things regarding Action Replays and stuff. It was technically unfair for Ash to have to fight legendaries, but they can be beaten; even if they are difficult to overcome at times. Although, he had to deal with Brandon's Regis during the Battle Frontier (and Articuno), so that shouldn't have come as a surprise for him. To be fair though, those were technically minor legendaries in lower tiers, as opposed to Darkrai / Latios who were Uber-ranked at the time of that fight.--------- As for Team Flare's base, their main HQ is in Geosenge game-wise; although Lysandre Labs is technically one of their areas as well. But yeah, it's unlikely they'll be in their game areas. Ash beat Latios, although that resulted in a draw because Pikachu was also declared unable to battle. Some people elsewhere are speculating that Tobias had more legendary Pokes on hand for his 3rd through 6th; that, and some things regarding Action Replays and stuff.Even if he had more legendaries, it's possible that they might not have been as strong as his Darkrai, This was hinted when he made a comment about Gible's Draco Meteor. Astro Dude
Ahem, his dub name was Tobias. Plus, it's weird that he had two pokemon, that died in their respective movies. Maybe the big reveal will happen in Anistar.
~British Soul~
Ahem, his dub name was Tobias. And? It's not like some of us prefer to use japanese names for characters or something... Flash Flyer - Sakura
In the case of Latios, there are likely more than just that one that died in movie 5.There was that backstory that the Japanese version had which we didn't for some reason (damn you 4Kids) which mentioned the idea of multiple Eons. So yeah, Takuto could've caught one of those or elsewhere. We really do not know where he obtained his legendaries from. (There was a side trainer who had a Heatran during the Lily of the Valley conference registration; that, and a Nurse Joy had a Latias in SS025. How they got them, we don't know.) Astro Dude
Agreed. We've seen Articuno on more than one occasion, Zapdos twice, Moltres twice, the Regis, the beasts, Darkrai, Zekrom, Reshiram, the list goes on.

Astro Dude
The part where Pikachu and Meowth had different poke-ball color schemes was hilarious. On a more serious note, it looks like Miette has taken part in these showcases. But after her last flop, will Serena win this?
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Yeah. And extending on the Ultra Ball thing; it also brought in Great Balls. I gotta say that Ash and friends are getting rather oblivious to Team Rocket's schemes. You'd think Ash would be smarter after being tricked by them so many times during his journeys, but nope. ----As for Serena, she should be fine.By now, I think she has the idea that her Pokemon needs to actually be able to move around. That being said, it appears she's going with a more Japanese feel with Braixen, so this should be fun. (Now I wish that XY077 + the special were subbed.)
